I have always liked a good mystery/thriller type novel so I eagerly looked forward to reading this book. I was not disappointed at all. From the beginning of this book, I was interested. The storyline begins with a murder which remains unsolved for many years. When a politicians aide goes missing in the same town, war correspondent Mia James arrives to get the facts surrounding the missing girl. The only suspect in her disappearance is the son of the town's mayor, who happens not only to be the...more

Jaded by Kenyon Carlton 2011 Parker Publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Former model turned hard core journalist, Mia is investigating the disapperance of a young political aide. The seaside town's most prominent citizen's son is the last person to see the girl alive, amid rumors they had had a romantic relationship.
Gabe Montgomery was once a resident here, but it's been many years since he has visited due to a restraining order against him regarding...more

The 1948 prologue of the novel sets the stage for a very intense modern day ghost story. When Mia comes to a small town called Vine, she has her sights set on covering a political scandal involving the Mayor and his shrewd son. Her temporary residence is set up in Holloway Manor--a period home that has stood empty for as long as the town can remember and a history that they pretend to have forgotten.

As Mia settles into the home she begins having weird dreams about times past and when she sees t...more

Don't let the cover on this book fool you! This story is jam packed with mystery, romance and a hint of paranormal. Mia is a world renowned journalist that is sent to the small town of Vine to do a story a local politician, his family and their missing intern. With her cousin Tracy in tow they rent a beautiful old home that is supposed to be haunted.

When she first arrives in town, she had no idea that Gabe Montgomery, a photographer from her past; lives just on the outskirts of town. These two h...more

Book Review:

Jaded is a cross between a romance, mystery, and horror story, but it is definitely an adult only book. The basic story could be read by any age, but the book goes into detail in several areas that make it unsuitable for the young.

I enjoyed reading Jaded. While I was totally wrong on the who-done-it, it was a total twist for me that connected the second story line; I enjoyed the main characters Mia and Gabe. Their relationship was not story-book perfect and contained the right amoun...more

Jaded is another nice addition to Kenya Carlton's resume with its perfect mix of romance and suspense. From the first page to the last the reader is drawn into the present world and the past that the author beautifully weaves together. You'll be on the edge of your seat waiting for justice to be served and for the sexual tension between Mia and Gabe to be fulfilled.

The present day heroine of Mia may look like a pushover with her supermodel looks but she can kick butt with the best of them. She'...more

Suspense-filled, JADED is an exciting, edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense novel that is impossible to put down until you reach the very last sentence. Mia had her hands full enough getting the story on the small town mayor, but she also has the deaths of his aide Melissa Baker and the actress Jade Parker to solve, not to mention another body that has suddenly shown up. In fact, the ghost of Jade Demarro is insistent on getting her retribution, no matter who gets hurt in the process. Delightfull...more

I highly enjoyed this book. It is a short book only about 160 pages but it moves and flows very well. Kenya Carlton does an awesome job flowing between past and present. She also does a good job incorporating the paranormal into the story. The characters of Mia and Gabe are awesome. I enjoyed their chemistry and the building love/lust between them. I had one wish for this book and I wish it would have had more in-depth about the feud between Gabe and Jonathan Worthington. Some is reveled but I s...more

Loved the story plot....,excellent. There were some slow spots in the book, but that didn't take away from the excitement and mystery created by the author.
