This is the first book that I have read of Megan hart's. I would probably have given it a 4 1/2 but since there are no halves I bumped it up to five.
This book had me from the very beginning when Sunny is awoken by her mother who sends her and her three children away before they "drink the rainbow" which sends them away to everlasting peace through the gates but as we know it, a mass suicide at a time decided by the leader.
Sunny is given the address of a father she never knew existed and he als More...

My emotions were all over the place with this story. I think because I know it happens all the time, or at least most of the story.
Sunny is a teenage mother of three in a cult that she has been raised in. Her mother wakes her and her children and tells hers she has to take the kids now . Her mom has packed two backpacks, gave her some money and tells her her real dad just lives a little away. To take around the More...

Liesel is a happily married woman. She and Christopher have a good relationship and a good life, but Liesel is beginning to want more. She wants children. Sunny has only known the compound. She isn't happy, but she isn't exactly unhappy. The last thing she expects is to leave the only family she's ever known and start anew. Liesel and Sunny both struggle with new obstacles and strive to remain steadfast in All Fall Down by Megan Hart.

Liesel knows that her husband Christopher doesn't More...

Thought provoking book on cults and those who leave to join them as well as those who leave and try to adjust outside. Sunny and her three children are sent away by her mother and told to go to her real father, who she never knew existed. Not understanding, but used to obeying she does just that. The next day she finds out that everyone else from the cult have committed suicide, or rather left their earthly vessels. Trying to explain, what to me is unexplainable, Hart does a very good job showin More...

I was very torn about how many stars to give this one. Four seems too little but it doesn't quite reach five for me. All Fall Down is a stunning story about cults, religion, family and choice. I was drawn into this lovely book from the first page and could hardly force myself to look away.

This book follows the lives of Sunshine (and her children, Happy, Peace and Bliss), Christopher and Liesel. Sunshine and her kids have just escaped from a cult, moments before the rest of the member More...

This was a hard book to read as it brought up so many issues that are uncomfortable and yet I couldn't put the book down. For me, things were made worse by the fact that I could see the things that upset all the people involved.

The story is about Sunny, who is raised in one of those crazy religious cults that twist things. When we meet Sunny she is 19 years old and has 3 children under the age of 4. Let that sink in for a minute or so and you realize just what has been happening. More...

A 19 year old girl (Sunny) with 3 children who grew up in a cult is awakened in the night by her mother and told to leave and find her father whom she has never met. Hours later, her mother and all the cult members are dead of apparent mass suicide. Her father, never knowing he had a daughter, struggles to accept her and the children into his home. His wife, eager to "mother" young children, encourages them to stay and then struggles with the reality of mothering. Sunny, meanwhile, More...

Most of you know how much I love Megan Hart's stories. Most of the titles of Hart's that I previously chose, were in the romance genre. But imagine my surprise when I saw this adult fiction title. Excitement didn't even begin to describe how I felt.

Megan Hart's All Fall Down is an emotionally powerful tale of family, faith, and self-love. I warn you now, this book talks about some heavy subjects. I think I lost a lot of tears reading this book. Hart More...

I was very intrigued by the subject of this book, because there are a lot of emotional things going on at once. You have Liesel's quest to have a baby, the appearance of a child form her husband's first marriage, becoming grandparents, and recovering from years of mental and physical abuse. That sounds like it would make for a very depressing novel, but All Fall Down isn't that at all. Liesel is forced to confront her feelings about her possible infertility while trying to engage her husband More...

Thought provoking life story. All Fall Down is not your typical Megan Hart book. At least not so much what I'm used to reading from her, although I know she started out writing this type of fiction. However, it's one of those books that you want to stop reading but you can't put it down.

Extremely well written, it tells us the story of Sunshine. She's 19 years old and has three kids, Happy, Bliss and Peace. Sunny was raised in what More...

Exploring the issues of identity, family and faith, All Fall Down is a thought provoking and intriguing novel.

Nineteen year old Sunshine has grown up in The Family of Superior Bliss, whose teachings of environmental sustainability and physical well being have been twisted by the charismatic cult leader to include harsh punishments, sexual abuse and psychological torture. When her mother commands Sunny to leave the compound in the middle of the night to seek shelter with the biologica More...

Megan Hart has become one of my favorite authors because she can really tell a story and this book is no exception. The only thing is that I wished that the ending had been flushed out a bit as I didn't want to stop reading about Sunshine and find out if she really did figure out her new life. I especially liked the Dr. Who reference in the middle of the book, but you needed to know what weeping angels are in order to get the reference.

Liesel yearns for a baby . . . and when her husband's daughter Sunny arrives with 3 young children, she has them. Sunny was sent by her mother to her father (who did not know he had a daughter) from the Sanctuary, a cult where she was born and lived until the age of 20. How does one adjust to life "outside" and how do a married couple adjust to life with a daughter and grandchildren they never knew existed?

Though the story is an interesting concept, I wasn't crazy about the way it was written. Perhaps I prefer first-person narrative? Not sure. I couldn't relate to the characters... again not sure why. The author just didn't have me convinced that she knew what she was writing about. I just couldn't get immersed into this, the writing just didn't have me convinced. Oh well.

This was my first book by Megan Hart and i really enjoyed it. The subject line was really well written in my opinion. I am glad of the way the book ended too, when i was getting close to the end i was so afraid it was going in a different direction so i am glad that she did not have it end that way. I look forward to reading more books by her.

this IS A BOOK THAT IS NOT EASY TO READ. NOT BECAUSE OF BIG WORDS BUT BECAUSE OF HARD TOUGH SUBJECTS. Sometimes I wanted to quit reading. I needed to finish. The author does not pull any punches and she does not gloss over the sadness or heartbreak. This book grows from a nightmare into hope. Read this book.

First time reading her and enjoyed her writing. Good characters and I enjoyed the reading about the main characters background in the cult. Very interesting to combine this with her new family. The end could of been tied up a little better and a little more detail bit I did like the end. Will read her again.

I knew where this book was going about halfway through, but I still loved it anyway. I found myself getting frustrated with Sunny and the kids at certain times as well as Liesel, despite that I couldn't stop reading. This book was wonderful!

The most poignant and powerful read in 2011!

True to her trait, Ms. Hart leads the reader on an adventure in emotions. No sooner than one hits, that the rug of another is ripped from beneath you.

A can't put down MUST read!

A very strange book about a girl and her three children who leave a compound the night before everyone "drinks the rainbow to go through the gates". She has nothing but some hastily packed rags a few dollars, and a slip of paper with the address of a father whom she's never met. She and her children live with him and his wife and the story of these two worlds colliding unfolds. An interesting take on what it would be like to be the only survivor of a mass suicide.

Really 3.5. This was the first book I read after "A Thousand Lives" which was about Jonestown. The selection was not intentional - it was just what I picked up next from the library. This book started out well, but sort of drifted from there. I liked the characters and admired most of them, but thought there would be more to the One True Son and his relationship with Sunshine. I would have liked it to go more in-depth, but overall it was a good read.
