Betrayal (Bella Terra Deception/Scarlet Desception #3)
Noah Di Luca and Penelope Alonso shared one passionate summer together. And then, when the secrets of his past threatened, Noah walked away from her without a word. Don't get me wrong - I love and adore Christina Dodd, and I hate to admit this, but it's been quite a long time since she wrote anything I got really excited about, and that makes me sad. Unlike the other two books in this series, I can't really put my finger on why I didn't fall in love with this one - maybe I didn't think Noah did enough groveling after dumping Penelope when she was 18 before suddenly they were falling into bed with each other (don't get me wrong, I know how these books go, bu...more
Christina Dodd pulls out all the stops in this third and final book of her Bella Terra Trilogy. A Trilogy about three brothers, raised partially by their grandparents when their feckless but charming father manages to marry and divorce or abandon the women in his life. A loveable, useless rogue that shows us the damage neglect can cause.
I will say this from the start. I LOVED THIS SERIES!! Now I have enjoyed Christina Dodd for a long time. Amazingly longer than even I realized, back to a series...more

I enjoy Christina Dodd's work overall and am generally quick to pick up one of her books, but I didn't go for this series. And as for this final book...
It was predictable. I'm not saying that lightly, because I'm not usually that upset by predictability. It isn't my pet peeve at all. I'm more of an, "as long as I enjoy the journey..." sort of person. But there's predictable and then there's PREDICTABLE.
If I've already solved the mystery by page 37, I at least want a bit of emotional upheaval. Th...more

Really, 2.5 stars. Rounded up to 3 because of the frequent safe sex.
Penelope Alonso is back in Bella Terra, the site of her greatest heartbreak. When she was eighteen, she fell in love with Noah Di Luca but then he unceremoniously dumped her. She has to come back to face a different part of her past, but she's hoping to avoid Noah. That doesn't work.

Christina Dodd wraps up her Bella Terra series with a winner. This book tells the story of Noah, the last brother still unmarried. His past lover, Penelope, has returned to the area after the death of her mother to confirm her mother’s deathbed confession. She plans to stay away from Noah but ends up befriending his sister in law, Brooke and working as the decorator on Brooke and Rafe’s house. Needless to say, she meets up with Noah pretty quickly and the sizzle is still there.

A family of international thieves are looking for a rare bottle of wine, supposedly containing pink diamonds. The bottle of wine belongs to the Di Lucas and the leader of the gang is none other than Noah Di Lucas' mother. Noah was raised by his paternal grandmother. He did not even get a glimpse of his mother until he was nineteen. At that time, he also met his ex-lover Penelope, who is also the only girl he has ever loved. Now nine years later, Penelope has come to Noah's hometown of Bella Terr...more
“Betrayal: A Bella Terra Deception Novel” is a wonderful conclusion to the Di Luca boys series. The book is filled with suspense, romance and action. For 9 years Noah Di Luca had known his life was in danger and was afraid to love and be truly happy. He did not meet his mother until his 19th summer and when he met her he discovered she was the leader of a band of international thieves. She had plans for him to take her place as the leader of the family of thieves. The girl he loved was back in B...more
I lucked out and was able to get my hands on an ARC of this book. I have really enjoyed this series and I was disheartened that the first two were released back to back but there was a seven month delay before the final book in the series was released. I know that Christina Dodd has no choice in release dates, it’s all up to the publisher, but as a reader I hate that. Since I was able to get this early I devoured it and enjoyed it every step of the way. If you haven’t read the earlier books in t...more

This is the 3rd story in the Bella Terra series. It is Noah's story. We discover that Noah met his Mother when he was 16 and never shared that information with anyone. He met Penelope, an intern working for the decorator updating the Bella Terra resort when she was just in college. They had a summer affair and then he dumped her for no apparent reason. The hunt is still on for the missing wine bottle that was supposed to have been hidden by Noah's grandfather while he was suffering from Alzheime...more
This is the third book in the Bella Terra Deception series. For me, Betrayal fell short after reading the first two books. I do not quite know why I did not enjoy Betrayal as much but I just did not. It was missing something. There was also a lot of story line crammed in and with this type of book that usually means it loses focus or does not spend enough time developing characters, emotions, and/or storylines. I do not need the nitty gritty with this type of book, I know it is not going to be t...more
Perhaps I should have started with books 1 and 2 of this series, but I just happened upon this book by chance. So far this story is a disappointment. Noah is tedious in his behaviour as far as his "secret" goes. Penelope is tiresome with her secrets. Which means that as a possible couple they are tiresome and tedious. I have been struggling along hoping it will improve but don't have high hopes at all. I have read several of Christina Dodd's books in the past and always enjoyed them. The only pl...more
Book 3 in the Bella Terra Deception series was as good as the first two. A little less time spent on romance since a mystery needed solving but it was still there. Especially loved that all the characters we've met and grown to love in the first two books played prominent roles here. There were a few happily ever afters - several unexpected ones - and nice closure. Would love a followup story though - maybe a Christmas novella or part of an anthology - hint, hint - just to continue to be a part...more

The final book of the trilogy is about the youngest Di Luca brother, Noah. He has been the quiet one that we don't know much about. Especially about his mother. His situation was never explained much but this book threw in a crazy twist about his past. We finally find out who his mother was, and this has been his dirty little secret. She came to him when he was a teenager and he's never told anyone he knew who she was. Now she wants his help to get that...more

You have no idea how bummed I am that I didn't like this book. Christina Dodd is one of my go-to authors because her stories are interesting, the characters are solid and the endings are always satisfying.
In this third and final installment of Bella Terra the youngest brother, Noah, reunites with a past love, Penelope, while trying to solve the family mystery of the missing bottle of wine.
I tried to be vague, but I did hide any spoiler-y type comments just to be safe.

Christina Dodd wraps up her Bella Terra series with a winner!
How can anyone not fall in love with this family from the very first book? It takes place in Bella Terra with Sarah Di Luca and her three grandsons Rafe (Brooke), Eli (Chloe), and Noah (Penelope). This book tells the story of Noah, with him being the youngest grandson and brother and the only grandson that is still unmarried. Penelope, Noah’s past love that he pushed away when the mess started with his mother, has returned to Bella Te...more

Betrayal is the final book in the Bella Terra trilogy by Christina Dodd and it is Noah’s book. After watching two complicated men, Rafe and Eli, find some happiness it is time to close out the story on the Di Luca family, their winery and the town of Bella Terra, by reading about Noah.
Noah is the youngest of the Di Luca brother’s and the one that was always carefree. Carefree, that is, until he came back from a year out in the world. He s...more

I had been a little iffy on the whole Bella Terra series. The disposition of the diamonds kept me in it. I have to say Dodd did a great job.
Looking back, each book built on the mystery and gave very little away. In Betrayal, she did the same thing. I like that Dodd left it for you to understand the Propov gang was responsible for all the mayhem. The story kept me enthralled from around the second chapter. Then the reveal of where the diamonds were had me laughing.

I think the theme of this work is the value of family. We are shown many types of families among the characters, but nothing in the book gets preachy about these values.
This is a good suspense mystery romance in which the fella is the hapless victim. In spite of his victim status, our hero is an intelligent macho stud who just ends up suffering as much as he does because...wait for it...being a guy he won't ask for help. Duh. This is what gives such a realistic turn to this work of fiction. The...more

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this trilogy of the three DiLuca brothers, the women who love them, and the long-running family feud(s). With the mystery still technically unsolved - solution out of sight?, the author has left herself room to revisit these characters again if she so desires. Having done this as a triology rather than one larger book, she has also allowed herself to develop her characters to such a depth, even most of her peripheral ones, that the pickings are ripe - like grape...more
Fun end to the series. I liked how every book you thought you knew what the mystery was all about and it took off for left field every time. In this book the plot was pretty unbelievable but I just went with it. The love story was there but not really center stage. There was a large potential for angst that didn't really hit it for me. One the whole though I enjoy this author and enjoyed this series.
I love Christina Dodd and have to admit I read this before reading the first two in the series. I'd give it a 3 1/2 stars only because I didn't fully understand the context having started the last book in the series. I enjoyed the mystery along with the characters Noah and Penelope resolving a lost lost love. I particularly loved the surprise ending to the mystery of the pink diamonds. Take that old fart!
Christina Dodd brings her Bella Terra trilogy to a triumphant close with the story of Noah DiLuca who hides a terrible secret in his past.
If you like strong yet flawed men and the strong women who love them,if you believe in the power of love and family, then you'll enjoy this book and this series.

What a fantastic ending to an amazing trilogy! This series was the first I have read by Christina Dodd and will certainly not be the last. This story wraps up the mystery that arcs throughout the books...where is the missing, highly sought-after bottle of wine and where are the priceless pink diamonds. We also finally get Noah's story and his romantic entanglement with Penelope. Though Eli and Chloe (book 2) was my favorite romantic story...this book was by far the most exciting in relation to t...more

Readers become writers, and Christina Dodd has always been a reader. As she was growing up, she read everything, but discovered, because she likes humor, that she liked romance best. In romance, the relationship between one man and one woman holds center stage, and that’s always good for a laugh.
