I don't want to start off on a sour spot with this novel, but it is a 'blurb novel'. This is the only reason it got bumped down to 4 stars instead of the 5 it deserved. I don't want to start off on a sour spot with this novel, but it is a 'blurb novel'. This is the only reason it got bumped down to 4 stars instead of the 5 it deserved. It was just the blurb that got to me. It gave away too much information. I read the blurb after I finished the novel and it just gave away too much of the story-line. When I joined the blog tour at the beginning, I completely forgot what it said just before I started reading the novel, so I went into the book with a clear head. If the blurb wasn't that revealing, we would be in for twists and turns and many surprises (below I've stated some of the parts where this book has surprised me without reading the blurb first.) Ok, I shall stop rambling and get onto the rest of the review…

When we start the nove it is already intriguing and pulling us in from the first few chapters. We start to uncover parts of Marcie's life with her as if starting afresh. It makes it easier to develop that character-reader relationship that's so important in novels ebcause we start to learn along with Marcie as we uncover what her life was like and the previous choices she has made.

I expected something different than what we were given. I so totally expected a mystery novel and I got very surprised when I see other elements in this novel as well. I was going into the novel expecting something different than what I usually read, but I'm not sure if this is classified as my "usual." I ended up really liking it, yet if a book like this one was not done right, it would be tragic. This is the kind of type of novel that needs to be done right, and that's exactly what this novel does.

It is Oh So Sexy and intriguing. It pulls you right in, I can't stop reading, and when I'm not reading, I start to think about the novel. It does not fail to surprise me, in the way that I thought the book was going to be one kindof novel, when it turns out being a whole different kind of novel, and you don't even expect it!

Ahh Sam, you smexy thing, you are such a tightly wound one, he needs to get loose and come to understand and have an open mind to Marcie's beliefs etc. I so want to shoot Dan, and Lance, yet we wonder what happens afterwards with Dan from Lance, and if Lance will pull through with his agreement. He doesn't say that he agrees, so we are left in the dark as the novel finishes to come up with our own. The way the novel finishes, is on a note that can either be turned into a second novel or be left as a stand-alone. We do think about what might happen next, yet it's not a cliffhanger, leaving room for an open decision on a continuation

the story is well-written and the characters are depicted for the ease of the readers..though there are really some grammars which are wrong ..it's understandable cause this just a pre-copy of the book and still it's readable..

the plot was really complex but it adds life to the book..as well as the the intriguing characters..the ending is somewhat hints the sequel of the second book..so yah..the ending isn't perfect!

Marcie Hollis is a Wiccan, who’s always played by the rules. That’s until she meets Dan McKenzie, a man who she believes to be the knight in shining armor she’s been searching for all her life.

However, Dan’s not who he appears to be. He lures Marcie into his world of lies, greed and high-grade marijuana. But fate intervenes on Marcie's illicit trip for Dan to New Orleans, when she's robbed in a crowded airport. The thug not only makes off with her suspicious backpack, he knocks her down, her head slams on the concrete floor, and she loses her memory right in the path of DEA agent, Sam Carre.

After a six-month investigation into the activities of a big time drug dealer crumbles, the same day damming evidence is found stuffed in Sam’s locker – evidence suggesting he’s the notorious leak on the team, Sam jumps on the first plane home. Arriving in a crowded airport in New Orleans - his reputation and loyalty are in question. But even though Sam’s tired, disillusioned and haunted by a past that gives him no peace, he stops to help an attractive stranger when she falls in front of him.

Then in an act of chivalry, he takes her to his home until the police can identify her. When questions arise about Marcie, and what she’s involved in, the answers lead them to the exact felons Sam investigated in the Pacific Northwest. This book is a good mixture of thriller, action, mystery, romance, and a bit of supernatural thrown in for good measure. The main character becomes a drug mule of sorts but things happens that put her into the path of the other main character who will become her love interest. If only she had listened to them earlier, she wouldn’t have ended up in the mess she did. Now she’s given a second chance to change the path her life is on, and she has some difficult choices to make.
The Choice is a book filled with suspense and characters that draw the reader in. The mystery and intrigue keep you turning the pages. Though it is a little cookie cutter suspense at times, the paranormal twist adds to the uniqueness of the book, letting the reader overlook that.
As I read the book, I grew fond of most of the characters, but I admit, I never really clicked with Marcie, unfortunately. She is well portrayed by Lorhainne Eckhart in the beginning as a victim of childhood abuse who puts all her self-worth in the hands of others, one man in particular. A simple thing such as not opening a door for her can send her into a downward spiral of self-doubt and abandonment. As the plot progressed, I hoped her character would grow out of some of this as she developed a sense of self-worth that came from inside of her, as she made better choices. What I got was a woman who simply switched which man’s hands carried her self-esteem. Despite this quirk in her personality, I was still going to give the book a solid four stars. But then the ending of the book was not what I expected. There was too much left hanging. In a good suspense novel, most loose ends are tied up, and if the author is looking to write a sequel, a mystery or two is left to entice the reader to buy the next book. This ending simply confirmed things the characters already knew instead of bringing to light new knowledge. Too much went unsolved. I needed more resolution. I believe that Lorhainne Eckhart is a wonderful author – her technique as a writer is excellent and her plots are engaging and entertaining. In this particular book, though, I felt that some of the subplots could have been left out to leave more room for growth and resolution. I give the book three and a half stars.

From the beginning, I was enthralled with the way the author wove the details of this story together. The incident where Marcie met Sam in New Orleans started a whole chain of events that kept the plot moving. Between witchcraft, police business, marijuana grow-ops and life on a small island, there was a lot going on all the time. The secondary characters were interesting and they added to the overall mystery and to the romance blooming between our hero and heroine.

It just so happens that DEA Agent Sam Carre is standing right behind her when this happens.

Sam needed to come home to regroup after a failed drug bust. Now he's a witness to a crime. The problem is, he's trying to help the lady who fell victim to the crime and she doesn't remember her name. Sam decides to care for her until she can regain her memories. Her situation with the mugging leaves him with many questions that make him feel that she may be linked to his failed investigation.

Marcie and Sam develop a romantic relationship while they try to solve the puzzle. Once Marcie has her memory back, she goes to Sam to come clean. Will he be able to go against his beliefs and keep her secret or will he turn her in?

My Take:
One of my favorite things to do is problem solving. I don't mean that in a therapy session sense. I mean, let's figure out who done it. I was looking forward to this book because it combines both romance and suspense/mystery. I appreciated the moral of the story. You have different paths in this life to choose from, it's up to you to make the right choice. Marcie was certainly headed down a destructive path, but fortunately was able to use her abilities to help her make that right choice. The choice was love in this case.

The story was a bit slow to start for me, but began to pick up around 35% into the book. There were some additional lags through out the story, but I felt that the plot was easy to follow along with. I liked both Sam and Marcie. I actually would have liked to have seen more romance between them. Another character I really liked was Jesse. I liked his no holds barred attitude and his ease with Marcie.

I was a bit disappointed with the ending, but since it's part of a series, I assume that the journey with Dan and Lance is far from over. Overall, I would say that if you are looking for a book that is focused on mystery and suspense with just a touch of romance to add into the mix, this is a great read for you. 3.5 out of 5 stars

When I fist started reading The Choice I thought I wouldn't like it very much, mainly because it's starts off a tad slow for my tastes. After I was about 20 pages in I started to change my mind. Why did I change my mind? Here's why:

This was a good book!
The characters were likeable-well, except Dan, he was a great bad dude. You just knew he was rotten from the get go.

The Choice was not quite what I expected but it was a great read. I was drawn right into the story and lives of the characters to the point I stayed up late just to finish it. I do that a lot with the MM romance reads but not with with many others so, for me, that said a lot about how engrossing and powerful the story was.

The first quality the reader will notice about this novel is the amount of events occurring and meshing together all at once. This is the worst end of the year book. It was predictable, full of cliches and half of the time I don't know what's happening. There are no explanation for things happening. The witch and magic thing seems to be a one big deus ex machina. The lead characters, who are all stupid, are given information on a silver plate by a ghost named Jerome. this was a truly wonderful book. the characters were intriguing and full of depth and vitallity. it was very easy to become emotionally connected to each of the characters and to empathize with them and what they were going through. the plot was also complex and stimulating and was not one of those that you could solve in the first 5 minutes but it left you guessing until the end as to who did what. a truely great story by a gifted writer. if this is the type of book that you enjoy then this is...more

I'm not entirely sure what I want to say about this one to be honest. The ending pissed me off and it the book could have been cut in half. The story had potential and did have good points throughout they were just so spread out. I just can't get over how after all those chapters and all the build-up it just disappointed me something fierce to have such a blunt and unrealistic ending. Then wham you get a 2 second Happily Ever After....ummm what!?
