I am so angry....I have this huge TBR pile and I wasted my entire day on this book. It was so not worth it.

I just can't read this book anymore. I am at page number 80 and I am fed up with all the drama.

My main problem with the book is the female protagonist Irelyn. She is a selfish, stupid and a big-fat liar. She doesn't think about anyone other than herself. And yet, everyone seems to love her. When you don't like the main character, it is really hard to like the book. I still tried! *sigh*

First of all, I hate this kind of story. When does unfaithfulness become an 'in thing'?
Second of all, Idiots!! Most of the characters with the exception of the mother and little Tommy are idiots.

We call unfaithful men bastards. Why can't we call unfaithful women bitch? Instead we call this kind of story a romance..

All I could think throughout the entire book was, "Another chapter? Are you kidding me?"

This book is about a girl named Irelyn (like Ireland, minus the D) who has a one night stand with Lucas, the lead singer of some band named Wet Dung or something like that. After doing the dirty, Irelyn bails, forgeting her phone in her hurry to escape Lucas's house.

I bought this book for my Kindle when I saw it compared to Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. I adored that book and was excited to try something along the same lines. This didn't quite live up to my expectations but was still an enjoyable read.

I actually liked this story a lot more than I thought I would.

Based on reviews, I was sure I wouldn't like the heroine very much. And while I do not condone cheating, I could see how what started out as a fling turned into love and was totally rooting for them. All I have to say is this book is packed full of drama! It was so easy to put yourself in Irelyn shoes and I instantly loved all the characters. Some parts were a little predictable, but I couldn't put it down, I had to see what happened next and how everything was going to unfold.

She strings both guys along because she's too selfish to cut either of them loose. The scenes dragged and dragged and repeated and repeated and you get the idea...I cheated on my boyfriend...I have to go and call it off with my fling....ops I cheated on my boyfriend again.....!

Ok so the guy who you have been with for 2 years, who stood up beside you when you were lonely and didn't act like his snobish peers, letting you feel protected and loved, who was patient, caring, trying to spend time with you, make love to you and etc... doesn't know you or understand you and suddenly turn into grandpa's pawn, calling you names n insulting your mother. Please author why oh why did you have to end it like this. This so much weakens the story. In thoughtless which is obviously the one to take the idea from, the boyfriend was sooooo good till the end which gave credibility to the struggle of the heroine's feelings.

And the other guy what's his name???Oh right Lucas, the magnificent Luke or whatever..He kept calling her Love and saying the same sentence over and over something like you want me, you came to me to get it or something like that. He was totaly ok with her cheating on her boyfriend with him even talking to them when he met them. I got zero vibes from this guy...really :( And then he's like pissed she hides him then not call her for a day then says he wanted to call her...what's this???zero character again zero vibe.

And the mother...OKKKAAAY..where's the character or the lack of??Where is the ANYTHING about the mother???She just filled pages but we can totaly do without her if she disappears and the story would be the same.

Definitly not reading the sequel about her friend..Read thoughtless if you haven't and you'll understand why this is a poor imitation even if you have your point against thoughtless(less)

This was not my style of writing at all. I'm confused about how many good reviews this book has - I wish I hadn't bothered to finish it, but I was just waiting for it to get good!

The relationships between the characters and the characters themselves are completely unrealistic. Ok first things first... where is a real life version of Lucas and how do I find him? Holy hell. Talk about swoon-I'm a pile of goo-worthy, egads. On top of it, he might also be the most patient man on earth. Geeze... I don't think any dude would put up with that type of "arrangement" for very long, especially when it's so obvious that real feelings have developed. So this story starts off much like all the others in this catergory. Irelyn (and I actually like her name - it suits her and it's fun, especially spoken in an aussie accent, and even though it's rather made up, like it is in most of these kinds of books, the leading lady always has some super original exotic type name, but for whatever reason Irelyn doesn't sound utterly ridiculous to me and I like it) has a wonderful supposedly 'perfect' boyfriend already, Dustin. She cheats on him with Lucas, when her and Lucas share this completely out of nowhere one night stand. From there it all sort of falls to pieces.

However, unlike most of these types of stories, the leading lady didn't totally annoy me. And the guy she was falling far wasn't a complete bad-ass either. Sure, he was in a band, but he seemed actually stable, sensible, level headed, and down right awesome. It was refreshing to read, actually, because a lot of the leading men in these sorts of stories are always so tragically flawed and off key in one or way or the other. So it was nice that Lucas was actually normal. He held a steady job at a construction site, he played in his band on weekends, he was kind, and a good listener, etc. Who wouldn't fall for Lucas?

So for once, we're seeing the good girl actually fall for the good guy. The drama starts because the good guy (Lucas) isn't actually deemed suitable and worthy enough according to Irelyn's incredibly wealthy and incredibly pretentious and short sighted grandparents, especially her grandfather, who just so happen to be paying for her luxurious education. So there's drama and that's really where trouble brews. Compared to most of these books in this category, it's a nice change to see that the drama is family related and not so much baggage between the two love interests.

I also liked the Gilmore Girls take on it too. I thought the Grandparents, and especially Grandfather, to be a little far fetched... but I could also be wrong. Perhaps when you have money and clout and come from "good stock", these sorts of "levels" of where you stand in society and how other people see you are really important. And perhaps, it's so important, that people can use their power to be manipulating. I don't know. One thing's for sure though, Grandfather was an ass.

The one thing that irked me was the two timing scenario thing was dragged out much, much longer than necessary. Nearer towards the middle I was yelling "JUST BREAK UP WITH YOUR JERK OF A BOYFRIEND ALREADY" because it was clear - right from the get go - that Irelyn didn't have real feelings for Dustin. And it quickly became blatantly obvious that Lucas was crazy about Irelyn, and she was crazy about him. So that frustrated me, a lot, actually. I just wanted her to break up with Dustin so that her and Lucas could be together. And Dustin wasn't even cool. He was mean, insensitive, and totally ignorant of Irelyn's thoughts and feelings. I don't understand why Irelyn would feel badly about breaking up with him. Other than the fact that her grandfather approved of Dustin, I really just didn't get the big deal. DUMP HIM. MOVE ON. Stop being insecure and fearful and take charge.

My other issue was after everything happens, Irelyn sort of shuts everyone out... and the shutting out and dealing with it by herself takes far too long. This was annoying because she had a huge, wonderful and loving support system. Her mom was cool - still very "mom like" but also a friend - and they shared a good rapport. And Irelyn's two gal pals, Bailey and Morgan, we're awesome. I wish I had friends like that! Even Lucas was incredibly understanding and forgiving (once he was told everything)... Heck, even Lucas' bandmates were sweet as pie... And I just sort of felt that she could've easily told someone what the deal was. Gone to them for help - especially her mother. Her mother of all people would've been understanding and helpful, especially since she had lived through a similiar controlling situation when she was young! It just made no sense to me why Irelyn decided to deal with it on her own. But I guess that's what makes up drama that sucks you in.

So overall, a highly enjoyable story. I couldn't put it down and I practically read it one sitting. And, having read so many of these similiar stories lately, it was a refreshing take. It wasn't so angst-driven, and incredibly laced with deep seeded drama with one far fetched thing happening after the other. It actually seemed like it could happen.

And LUCAS... gee golly... be still my beating heart. :)

The book reminded me of Thoughtless. The main character, Irelyn was really annoying. Basically the story is about a girl who has a nice life and doesn't have to worry about anything and is allowed to free college education and allowance. What I loved about the book was the supporting characters and Lucas (of course!). I loved reading about the friendship that developed between Irelyn, Bailey and Morgan. They became true friends and I loved how Bailey and Morgan were there for Irelyn. AND, who wouldn't love Lucas. Really! Despite how things started out between him and Irelyn he stayed true and never gave up on her.

Irelyn was a character that I had a love/hate relationship with. I did like her more towards the end of the book. She frustrated me so many times throughout the book. I had to restrain myself from throwing my Kobo across the room at times - it isn't my Kobo's fault! I did love her relationship with her mom and her loyalty to her and Tommy. That was one of her few redeeming qualities. I even understood her relationship with Lucas, why it started, etc. What irked me is the fact that she let it continue for so long and get so out of hand. Of course I understood that fact that when someone messes up the way she did, you do not always want to face the consequences and things sometimes get swept under the rug. HOWEVER, the time comes to just put some big girl panties on and face the music. That part did not come soon enough for me. Frankly, there were times when I thought Lucas can do so much better.

Irelyn did somewhat win me over by the end of the book. I was happy to see her and Lucas get their HEA.

One thing I can say is J. L. Paul sure knows how to steam things up. I loved the more "sexy" scenes with Irelyn and Lucas.

I did enjoy reading this book and will definitely continue on and read the next book about Bailey. If you like romantic books and can overlook a heroine that is an idiot for at least 75% of the book, definately read this! :)(less)

At least Kiera in Thoughtless redeemed herself eventually and I could actually feel the struggles and emotions the characters felt but this book seemed empty. I had glimpses of "Gilmore Girls" in some of the characters and in the plot, and I don't know whether the author intentionally wanted it that way or it just happened. The storyline was also quite similar to that of S.C. Stephens' Thoughtless.

Anyway, what bugs me about books like these is the prominence of sex. It seems to be THE binding factor between two people, and just being together physically truly defines their relationship and it takes eternity to delve into the emotional aspect.

I added All the Wrong Reasons to my list after finding it reviewed as a must read for Beautiful Disaster Fans. All the Wrong Reasons is fast paced and effortlessly sucks you into the story. Irelyn's life resembled that of a caged animal; as she constantly tries to live up to the expectations of her prestige Grandparents. As she stands on the brink of adulthood; this young girl should be living and experiencing life, but it is apparently obvious that under watchful eyes she must scrutinize her every action. As Irelyn embarks on her first year in college she finds herself enjoying the freedom and friendship, but when she willingly walks into arms of one HOT lead singer in a local band she begins to question where her future is heading and just who and what makes her happy. This is an incredible story about self discovery, betrayal, and love that refuses to release you even after the last page. I never thought it possible to hold my breath through an entire book, but All the Wrong Reasons proves it. Be prepared for the rolling coaster of emotions as this story unfolds.

Some details that I would like to point out about this book are included here. I didn't want to include them with the first part of the review for fear of ruining the story for other readers. First off, I love the way this author makes the main character appear as the villain for much of this book. With two loving and wonderful guys chasing her it is easy to sympathize with her current situation, but it is also possible to lay blame where it is due as she leaves a trail of unresolved issues along the way. She knowingly opens her arms to this disaster, although I don't quite blame her; but this open the door for the avalanche that will follow. Lucas perceives himself as the "bad guy" of the story, but at no point was I capable of viewing him as such. It is obvious from the start that this was never an affair or a fling. Readers will endure her rollercoaster relationship, but silently find themselves in love with one. Some characters true colors remain hidden for a majority of the story, but in the climax of the story true identities emerge unfold the deeper meaning in the story. As everything begins falling apart readers will find themselves furious with the situation and at the reality of the choices proving just how unfair life can really be. This story is not only a romance, but a realistic display of finding yourself and being true to yourself. I loved every second to this story, and recommend it to everyone. If you are desperate to read something you can feel this is the book for you.
