This sequel to The Reinvention of Bessica Lefter picks up with Bessica heavily invested in both her position as school mascot and in reestablishing her friendship with Sylvie. However, she's still disorganized, and forgets a mascot meeting, which gives her co-mascot, Alice, a chance to schedule all of the good games. Sylvie and Bessica are still not quite in sync, and get involved in a nasty text message battle that ends in them not speaking. Bessica is also worried about her grandmother because...more
Bessica Lefter is in grade 6th and has the life every 6th grader wished they had; she's half-mascot and she's even got her crush, the gorgeous Noll Beck aka her neighbour, talking to her. Bessica may seem like she's got it all but she's got a lot on her plate this year such as best friend problems, mascot worries, and watching her grandmother date WIlly, a person she dislikes. She has to make it through the year without being tortured by the other half-mascot as well as the other team's mascot a...more
The second book about Bessica Lefter follows her ongoing problems with her BFF, "psycho bullies", family, and general middle school drama. Bessica has won a spot as one half of their school mascot and she takes her new duties very seriously, as she believes it is her chance to stand out and be somebody in middle school. The book contains the usual drama of tween books (detention! boys! text fights!), including school mishaps and a cute boy next door. Little asides are sprinkled throughout the bo...more
I'm not sure how she did it, but Kristen Tracy managed to write a sequel to The Reinvention of Bessica Lefter that makes Bessica look even more like a stuck-up, selfish, spoiled, narcissistic brat.

This girl seems a little over the top. I guess some of the sixth grade middle school girls act like this, but not very many. If I hadn't gotten it for free, I wouldn't be adding to my library. Offer to the somewhat immature sixth grade girls.
