I grew up outside of Galveston and my Dad spent his early professional life working in the city. Having heard numerous accounts of the 1900 storm, this book drew my attention.

The black and white photographs provide a stark reminder of the power of mother nature. Although the figure of 6000 is offered as the number of people who died in the storm, that figure is only an estimate.
