I enjoyed this romantic suspense debut by Trish Milburn. The story is set in Nashville but has nothing to do with the country music industry whatsoever. A murderer is on the loose, killing beautiful blondes, and leaving a chocolate kiss on their lips. A cop who doesn't trust and a reporter who will stop at nothing to find the truth collide head-on. From there it's suspense and romance all the way to the end. Ms. Milburn includes all the elements for the making of a really well-plotted romantic s ...more

Dangerous Kisses, a romantic, suspense, by Trish Milburn is an engaging and exciting adult novel. This story will have you playing detective and rooting for the two main characters, Sydney Blackburn and Jake Radley.

Sydney and Jake are both workaholics. They both want to protect the innocent and nail the bad guys. And even though they are working on the same side, they are still at odds because Sydney is a report

Sydney is an intrepid reporter wanting to help right wrongs. Super Cop Jake Radley is the detective hunting down a serial killer in Nashville, and he doesn't want to have to work around a reporter, even one as cute and dedicated to the truth as Sydney. But when her articles make her a target of the killer, he has to step in to make sure that she doesn't become a victim. Against his better judgment, he begins to fall for her, and I love to see a man who's certain he'll always be alone fall in lov ...more

Murder mystery with a little romance, this caught my eye due to the Nashville setting. The name of the newspaper where the main character works is made up, as are several other business names, but all the geographical references, street and neighborhood names were authentic. Not much else to characterize it as Nashville, the story could just as easily have been set anywhere. While the story is decent enough, it is also fairly generic. It suffers for me from the romantic clique of the leads who p ...more

Read like a sexy Stephanie Plum/Janet Evanovich. Well written, likable characters. A quick fluffy read.
I am someone who wants to give in to a good crying jag when I pick up books that do not live up to my expectations. This one stirred my interest and of course along with it my 'high' expectations upon seeing the rave 5-star reviews for the book on Amazon. Needing a good romantic suspense with enough scorching passion to light up my world, I trusted the reviews and believed that Dangerous Kisses would deliver a smashing read and sadly I found this to be just an average read, most of the story whi ...more

A police beat reporter from The Nashville Courier, 32 year old, Sydney Blackburn, is a workaholic determined to see that justice prevails. Her mom a victim of a vicious car-jacking is what drives Sydney to let nothing and no one get in her way of alerting and protecting the citizens of Nashville. A girl, Maggie Field, is found murdered in her town, sets off Sydney's butting heads with the police officer in charge, Detective Radley who is not afraid to let HER know that reporters are not his favo ...more

I find this more to be a 3.5 rather than a full 4.

Trish Milburn has a good idea (though not exactly original) an writes it in a way that grabs readers' attentions. Although there was a bit too much of unsaid miscommunication between Sydney and Jake, the back stories of these two played in well to their hesitance toward each other. There was no superfluous scenes that seemed out of place and I really enjoyed this book.

The main problem, however, is that the first 85% of the book seemed to be lea

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, didn't want to put it down. The plot was a familiar one but the characters were new and refreshingly so. Sydney was a newspaper reporter whose mother had been murdered years before. When it appears there may be a serial killer on the loose in her community, she's the one to cover the story. She butts heads with Detective Jake Radley, who was once betrayed by a reporter, causing a young girl's death. As such, he refuses to give Sydney the time of day. However, when ...more

Dangerous Kisses is a great story! Sydney is a beat reporter who decides to report on a serial murderer. As a result, she becomes his next target. Detective Radley is investigating the murders, doesn't like reporters, but finds himself protecting Sydney and falling for her.

This is a pretty good story with a nice plot. Two people fighting their attraction for each other while trying to stay alive. I enjoyed the suspense and the romance. I was completely surprised at who the killer was. I thought

Real Characters, Real Problems

Jake Radley finds it difficult to trust. Sydney wants the truth and she won’t stop until she has it. Jake and Sydney fight their attraction to one another. They have work to do. These are real characters with real problems who must work on their healing their pasts if they ever want a future together. Nicely done. I found it difficult to put this book down.

The personal history for each of these two main characters is what gives a realistic feel to the clash of their viewpoints when it comes to a serial killer on the loose. The only character that could have been developed a little more might be the villan - his motive especially. All in all, though, a good quick read. I enjoyed it.

Pretty, Blonde journalist Sydney is the first to arrive at a crime scene after handsome, jaded, cold Officer Jake Radley. He pushes her away, refusing to let her blow the cover on the serial killer running lose in town. Once Sydney becomes the next target, however, Jake vows that he will protect her at all costs, as well as capturing the horrible person committing these cold-blooded murders.
I really enjoyed this book. Loved the main characters. The reason I gave it 4-1/2 stars rather than 5 is because the pacing seemed a bit off. Great build up bit the end was a bit rushed. I will read more from this author. I certainly wouldn't kick the hero Jake out of bed for eating cookies. Fun read.

I loved Dangerous Kisses. Two people totally at odds who come together to stop a killer, and somehow managing to not only work out their differences but also to fall in love in the process. A great romantic suspense that kept me guessing to the very end.
Intriguing premise with a well executed story and cast of characters, felt the ending was abrupt but it still tied up neatly.

This was a pretty good story with lots of twists and turns but it was a little drawn out and could have had more dialog for me.

The chemistry between Sydney/Jake just wasn't there. The way he kept her at bay by hurtful comments was annoying.

“Trying to figure out why Radley’s such a horse’s butt is all."

"It’s a course we take at the academy," that deep voice said from beside her.

She looked up to see Radley’s dark eyes staring down at her. Her face flushed before she could prevent it.

"Being a Horse’s Ass 101. I got an A+.”
