How did I like this book? I liked this book a lot! How did I like the characters? The characters were complete and I cared about them, even the ones I did not like. Did I like the location? Very much and I liked that it was not one of the major cities. I also felt like I could walk into the Souvenir Store and know where everything is located. By the way, I do want to read one of those older newspapers.

I enjoyed this first book in the Haunted Souvenir Shop Mysteries, with it's cast of charming and interesting characters. And Bluebeard was an absolute show stealer! It was a unique twist having Uncle Louis communicate through Bluebeard, I enjoyed that bit a great deal. It was a bit slow paced in parts, but that's to be expected in the first book of a series. For me, the mystery wasn't the strongest point of the story as the killer was exactly who I thought it would be. However the characters th...more
This is the first book in the A Haunted Souvenir Shop Mystery series.

Glory Martine loves the quaint souvenir shop she inherited from her great-uncle Louis. Not only did she get a shop filled with collectibles and mementos, she also inherited his parrot, Bluebeard. The shop is situated in the small town of Keyhole Bay in Florida, where everyone knows everyone else’s business.

First in the Haunted Souvenir Shop Mystery series, and only one out so far. Glory inherits Southern Teasures from her hermit Uncle Louis. She and her friend Karen are heading home when they hear that the star of the football team has been killed in a car accident, but was it really an accident? According to Bluebeard, her uncle's parrot, someone killed Kevin, but who?

First Line: "No, Peter. It is not a good idea."
If only her interfering cousin Peter were the only fly in Glory Martine's ointment. Orphaned at the age of seventeen, Glory and Peter are joint inheritors of their uncle's souvenir shop in Keyhole Bay, Florida. Living in Alabama, Peter believes he's the "idea man" even though he hasn't got a clue about retail, or Southern Treasures, the souvenir shop stuffed with collectibles and mementoes of bygone days that Glory runs.

Very good new cozy series. Ms Fifield does a good job introducing us to the characters and telling us a little about them and their town. I think we will learn a lot more about Uncle Louis as the series grow. Blackbeard the Parrot steals the show a great side character and she does a good job teaching us about parrot care too. I love the southern dinner menus as they are very different from my New England Cuisine. Mystery could have been a bit better, but they may improve over time. Very enjoyab...more
Glory seems really cool, I would love to meet her friends and try some of their fantastic cooking!
Since that will never happen, I guess I'll just have to settle for trying some of the recipes from the back of the book and sharing them with some of my friends and family.
Bluebeard adds such a fun and quirky element to this novel, and the fact that Uncle Lou is able to communicate through him is so unique and creative.
I really hope that there will be another novel in this great series soon and that...more

MURDER BUYS A T-SHIRT is a very enjoyable start to a new paranormal cozy mystery series. What pulled me in first was the setting. Glory Martine runs a souvenir shop in the sunny town of Keyhole Bay, Florida. Her store brought back memories of my yearly trips to the Florida Panhandle as a child, though Glory’s Southern Treasures sounds nicer than the trinket shops I remember. She inherited the store and a cantankerous talking parrot named Bluebeard from her great uncle. The parrot was hilarious –...more
So it took abit to get into this book - perhaps i was distracted by my wonderful growing pile of to be read books....
but once i got into it, it was an alright outting. I enjoyed the twist of the ghost/parrot and think this first in a series has good "bones" to be an ongoing series.
Will definitely keep eye out for this writer.
p.s i gave it 4 stars because on first outtings usually they are not that great reads - this was better than many firsts ... if this was a second/third it would have gotten...more

It was a pretty good read for a first in a brand new series. I was excited to read it when I first started and it did have a good storyline, but in the end it kinda fell flat a little for me. I was happy in the end that Glory's new beau has joined her circle of friends and I'll be hopeful to read more about their prospective relationship in the next book. However I felt the actual climax of solving the mystery at the end was predicable and a little too short. I had a feeling the killer was exact...more
Murder Buys a T-Shirt was a fun, cozy mystery that's about Glory Martine the owner of a haunted souvenir shop that gets entangled in a mystery surrounding the death of the high school football captain. She believes her souvenir shop is haunted because after a night out with her friend she comes home to her shop in shambles and her parrot Bluebeard being thought of as the culprit, but then Glory re-thinks the possibility due to fact that all that was moved and strewed about the shop were some old...more
This was the first in a new series. I think it was the first book published by this author. It didn't have one of the greatest mysteries, and the Glory didn't do the best job of sleuthing, but the characters were likeable. A lot of cozies are really more about the characters than the mystery anyways. I do wish we had learned more about the secondary characters but I expect that that will change as the series goes on. I will keep my eye out for the next one.
A little slow but it often is when you have to introduce all the characters. Yes there is a "haunting" but it is not all that evident, in this book at least... Possibly it will be more prominent in future books! As for the actual mystery, it seemed to fall into place without much more than asking a few questions, listening to gossip and looking at the outside of a car. That being said I will give book two a chance for sure!
I love cozy mysteries, but I usually do not read the cozies with the "magic", "paranormal", and "haunted" themes. I am glad that I picked up this book in Ms. Fifield's new series. The characters are really down to earth and someone that you could live next door to. I cannot wait to learn more about each of them. Being from the south, I love the recipes and the weekly dinners. In fact, when I went to the grocery, I picked up some turnip greens! This will be another series that I will patiently wa...more
I really wanted to like this start to what could be the start of an interesting cozy series, but I found the characters flat and not really all that interesting, the setting vague, and the mystery predictable. For the lack of setting details, this story could have been set anywhere. It is only the repeated reference to the Florida Panhandle that gives any clue as to locale. Disappointing start, but maybe the series will improve.
Good read. I liked the location very much, the small town in Florida and the well described souvenir shop.
I also liked the characters.
The story was well written and it was fun to follow the turns. And I love the Parrot.
I'm looking forward to the next book of the series. I'm especially interested how the friendship with the good looking bookshop owner turns out. I'm also looking forward to try some of the recipes in the book.

Glory has inherited her great uncle Louis’s souvenir shop in Keyhole Bay, Florida along with his parrot, Bluebeard. After 3 years of running the shop things suddenly begin moving around, stock gets messed up, and the parrot begins saying things he couldn’t have picked up from her or customers. Uncle Louis is haunting the shop. When a local star quarterback is killed in a car accident, Uncle Louis tells her through, Bluebeard, it wasn’t an accident. Glory begins nosing around with her best friend...more
This was cute. I loved the small, Southern town setting, the strong friendships of the lead character and the parrot channeling the spirit of his previous owner. The 'mystery' was a bit thin and the murderer obvious from very early in the book, but otherwise it was an enjoyable, quick read. Great for vacation or waiting at the doctor's office.
Not bad for a first in a series. Characters were likeable ESPECIALLY Bluebeard! I love that bird! Her group of friends are fun too! Was hoping Glory was going to find more clues from the shop so the story was a bit slow at times. Hope the next books have Uncle Louis speak up even more and what's behind Jake's mysterious past! Looking forward to the next book!

Glory owns a tourist shop in Keyhole Bay, FL, selling t-shirts and other items. One night, the local football hero is killed in an auto accident and Glory feels the accident was no accident. Her store has a parrot who can talk up a blue streak and she begins to think that the parrot knows who killed the football hero.
Promising start to a new paranormal Cody series -- Haunted Souvenir Shop. The two winning features were the location, a small town in Florida's panhandle, and interesting characters. The part that. was a little light was the plot -- as is often the case with debut authors. I look forward visiting Keyhole Bay in the future.
I wasn't sure about this book, as I have to admit, I didn't like the title at all. But it was a mystery with a ghost that takes place in my home state of Florida, so I gave it a try. I'm sure glad I did. A strong debut, in my opinion. The characters all sound interesting enough that I want to stick around and watch them develop, the setting is well sketched out and the plot/murder mystery was a good one. The ending wasn't a surprise to me, but neither was I able to guess which suspect was the mu...more
This is sort of a paranormal mystery. The spirit of Glory's Uncle Louis is still with the souvenir shop in Florida Glory inherited. Glory knows better than to tell anyone or they will think she's as crackers as the ones she feeds Bluebeard the parrot.
The mystery is a good one and I enjoyed watching Glory work towards figuring out who the killer was.
I want to live in this town of Keyhole Bay, Florida. I want to know these people that Glory shares the town with..at least some of them.
