This is a good introductory text on how to approach other books on philosophy. It lays out how to distinguish a philosophical problem, basic reasoning skills, how to study philosophy and how to write in a philosophical manner.
This was pretty good for me. It was my first book on the aspects of and reasoning for philosophy. Along the lines of "faith and learning". hough is is shunned by a large portion of the church, it is something that we have all done and can be better at it when not only defending our faith but as a witnessing tool to help us to, "always be ready to give an answer" to the unsaved world around us.
This was the text for my philo 101 class back in 2001. I got about half way through and then shelved it for seven years. It's a pretty nice introduction and a quick, easy read considering the subject matter....though I can't say I learned anything this time around. Now I can at least sell it without guilt.
