In the apocalyptic novel Blaze of Glory by Weston Ochse, the world is overrun by zombies an extraterrestial blob of slime martian invaders maggots, which are seemingly exterminating all of humanity. The story follows an unlikely group of survivors, who for all they know could be the last living people on earth! They stick together to push through, but the odds are against them.

As this summary of the plot might show, the story of this book is very, very generic. In the post scriptum of the book,...more

I don't want to say this book is bad, I'm sure some people would enjoy it, but it just never clicked with me. It's unfortunate because I usually love a post-apocalyptic, monster filled, survival story. This book felt like a short-story that was stretched to come close to novel length (which it was).

It really felt like this story had a lot of padding; especially the random conversations that added little to the plot or characters (an argument over whether KISS is gay?). That plus the crack smoki...more

The world that we know is over. Our cities are being reduced to rubble, and the people are unwilling hosts to the harbingers whose sudden appearance brought on the end.

Armed with only fire, salt, and the will to survive, a small group leaves the safety of their home to seek shelter by the ocean, their last hope for survival. Along the way they must come to terms with the possibility of not making it and to not fear the moment that death arrives.

How much would you be willing to sacrifice to ensu...more

It was OK. I got this as part of the Humble Bundle a while back as a way to give some authors a chance hoping to find someone I liked.

This story was OK but I kept running into science stuff that would not work - mostly related to salinity.

It was a good concept for a story but it just seemed incomplete.

This is a great character driven apocalyptic, end-of-world story unlike any other you may have read. Flesh-eatng, mind-bending maggots of all sizes and temperaments, and a mixed bag of humans shut in a room.

Interesting idea that did not quite satisfy. Velvet Dogma was better developed, and a more interesting read.

Meh. The starts tooltip says 2 means "it was ok", but really, this was meh. Not 1-star "didn't like it", but ...

Must confess I did not read the Hollywood stuff at the end. Maybe that's good, I ust didn't bother.

Excellent apocalyptic B-movie fun!

Finished this finally. Relatively short tale. Shouldn't have taken that long to read. Wasn't the fault of the story. Simply couldn't make time.

Tempo was pretty steady. Peaks and valleys of tale were never too high or too low, but I was never hit with a "holy $&!#" moment.

There were few new and unique (to me at least) ideas which helped keep my attention.
