A respected friend of mine recently posted a link to her FB page from Focus on the Family. The link represented the story of Chris and Cindy Beall, a couple who had experienced deep hurt and betrayal in their marriage. Although, by the grace of God, I haven't experienced this in my own marriage, it is a subject that is very real in the lives of many people. After listening to their story, I wanted to learn more, so I read the book. Very valuable information here. A must-read regarding a very del ...more

“We have to talk…” When Cindy Beall’s husband of eighteen years spoke those words, Cindy’s life changed forever. She was stunned when Chris—a pastor—confessed that he had been unfaithful—with multiple women—and that one of them was pregnant with his child. When she asked why, his answer was “I’m addicted to pornography.”

I'm not married, so I'm probably not the best judge of this book. However, I've been in relationships -- long-term serious relationships, and I've been engaged. Needless to say, that engagement, after 11 years, ended badly enough that I considered reading a book on broken trust in marriages.

I've never been a wife, but I understand betrayal. So, perhaps that still makes me part of the target audience.

Cindy Beall's husband was a leader in the church -- a man who never planned on cheating. But, he

This is a particularly difficult book for me to read and review. Not because the author made a complete blunder out of it, but because the author reminded me of the awful things I would prefer not to remember and put it behind me. It hurt very much to read this book because it’s agonizingly familiar and way too close to home.

I dare not read this book. I stopped reading after the first chapter because I

Huge Support During a Time of Pain

Cindy Beall is hugely encouraging, focusing the wounded spouse (and repentant adulter) on God. She offers warm soothing support that is biblically based and reassures the hurting husband or wife that they are NOT crazy for waiting on The Lord and His redemption.

I really enjoyed this book. The book isn't just a "memoir" of the Beall's struggle through infidelity and the "consequences" of infidelity, this is a book that shows how our Heavenly Father can bring us through trials and tribulations. Cindy tells how couples who struggle with Trust issues in a marriage have to find a "new normal", as the trust is being rebuilt in that marriage.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has struggles in their marriage, no matter what they are. Cindy's insight a

A heart wrenching look down to the soul of Cindy Beall and many others who have faced unfaithfulness and trusted God to lead them in the dark. Worth your time, and all the more so if you have experienced anything like this.

Great book. An awesome couple who embraced transparency and forgiveness. What a refreshing book about infidelity and a witness about what God can do. I would recommend it to anyone with or without marriage problems.

“The day we live in fear and allow our minds and hearts to worry about situations that may never occur is a day he is winning. These moments of fret and hopelessness are a complete waste of my precious time and my precious life and marriage. The same is true for your life, my friend. We are experiencing restoration, and we needn’t look beyond God for our truth and courage.” 0 likes
“God’s unmerited, divine assistance is enough. Period. It’s enough when things are going great and the stars are aligned, and it’s enough when God chooses to allow something dreadful to come across your path. It’s enough. It’s not easy, but it is what we need. And praise God for that.” 0 likes
