I was the latter. I read the original trilogy a couple years back and I was largely unimpressed. I thought it kind of cliched and melodramatic. I also am not a big fan of Chandler's writing style, which is very similar to L.J. Smith's in that it is very impersonal and dated. Perhaps if I was teen in the 90's I would have loved these books, but there is much deeper and richer paranormal fiction that has been published since then, and the original trilogy pales in comparison.

This new installment is much of the same. Chandler's writing has not evolved much. The gap was only one year for her characters, ten years for her readers. In the original trilogy, there were no cell phones and no GPS, but in attempt to make her work seem more modern, Chandler lays on the technological references so much that it seemed unnatural and not intrinsic to the story.

I see no reason for why this story was continued. It was over and done with no impending loose ends or cliff hangers to prompt its continuation. Perhaps it is the success of the re-publication of the first three books that prompted it.

Ivy still is kind of obnoxious, the little goody-two-shoes that she is. She was perfect, soooooo kind and soooo beautiful, that it is hard to identify with her. Too perfect in that she is boring. I am not friends with boring people in real life. I like my friends loud, obnoxious, and interesting. In real life, Ivy and I would not be friends.

And I feel bad for Will, her current boyfriend, because it is obvious to everyone that she is leading him on. For some reason, Ivy cannot get over the death of her late boyfriend, Tristan, who died over a year before (in their universe at least) in a horrific intentional accident, which is a stupendous oxymoron. Wasn't the whole point of the first three books for Ivy and Tristan to find their closure? If its was closed, why did Chandler feel the need to open it back up? Leave the scab alone, woman. We don't want to see this bloody, puss-filled mess again.

Like I said, much of the same. Ivy is confused and pining, Beth (did Chandler name her after herself) does her psychic stuff, Will kind of follows Ivy around, there are new, frivolous characters that act as filler, there is a new mysterious guy; Tristan is missing, he doesn't get his own page time, and Lacey is kind of irrelevant but pops into the novel whenever she feels the need. It was an obvious filler installment, with a (painful to some) cliffhanger, and more loose ends than a chewed-up rug.

Unnecessary. If you really liked the original Kissed by an Angel trilogy, you'll probably like this one. If you didn't particularly care for the original trilogy, or would like to leave it as is, then you are not missing much. (less)

I don't know if it is actually fair for me to write a review on this book as I didn't even finish it but I still wanted to write my thoughts on it.
I was so excited to read this book. I absolutely adored the beginning of this series and was really looking forward to another book about Ivy, Tristan and Will.

Sigh. I LOVE Ivy and Tristan! However, I was really disappointed
by the ever so blatant cliffhanger. I always feel like it's a cheap
trick and a lame way of ensuring another book. :( While it's nice
to come back to characters that are known and loved, the original
trilogy is almost two decades old...so why come back to them now? I
found the updating of them to present day time rather jarring and it
took away from the story for me. I just don't get it. So like I
said, it was okay but the original trilog...more

This is a weird interview for me. I really wanted to love this book, and there's still hope for that in the future I suppose. Growing up the Kissed by an Angel series was my all-time-favorite-read. I've had the omnibus edition for so long now that I can't remember how Ms. Chandler ended each book individually. In the fourth installment of the Kissed by an Angel series, we find Ivy, Will, and Beth spending the summer in Cape Cod working for Beth’s Aunt Cindy at her inn. The one year anniversary of Tristan’s death is fast approaching and everyone is keeping a close eye on Ivy.

When Ivy and Beth go to pick up Dhanya and Kelsey (the other two girls that are working at the inn for the summer) from a party, Ivy gets in a car accident. Ivy has an out of body experience and sees Tristan. He kisses her and she wakes up in the hospital. Everyone sees the amount of blood in the car and call it a miracle she survived.

While Ivy is at the hospital she meets another guy, one who doesn’t remember his name that was pulled out of the sea and was badly beaten. Everyone at the hospital calls him Guy as in guy unknown. Ivy eventually breaks Guy out of the hospital as he’s desperate to escape.

Will and Beth don’t like Ivy hanging out with Guy and after a séance gone wrong, Beth starts having bad dreams and is convinced that Gregory is back and that Ivy shouldn’t be so trusting. But the more Ivy hangs out with Guy, the more she is convinced that it’s Tristan and he’s somehow come back to her.

Then Guy’s real name is discovered; Luke and he’s wanted for murder. Were Ivy’s friends right all along?

With how bad the previous book, Soulmates, was I really didn’t know what to expect with this installment. But I found it to be a nice easy read that doesn’t make you think a whole lot, but is a decent read all the same.

This one had your typical love triangle with Will loving Ivy and her falling for Guy. It still amazes me how quickly she jumps from one guy to the next though. Some might be upset about Ivy and Will breaking up, but that didn’t really bother me as I never felt they were right for each other. And up to the point when they got together, I thought that Beth and Will were going to start dating.

All of Ivy’s friends were thinking that Guy was Gregory coming back for revenge and I was trying to decide if Guy was the bad person here, but I never really thought he was. Max, Bryan, and Chase were all good candidates though!

You don’t find out all the answers at the end and have to read the next installment, Everlasting, to find out what happens.

Puedo sonar algo exagerada, y sí, seguramente sea algo exagerada. Con este libro os tengo que decir que no puedo ser objetiva, soy super-subjetiva porque el primero me enganchó como nunca (diré y "rediré" que me leí las 600 páginas que se dice pronto en la madrugada, me dormí a las ocho de la mañana porque había estado leyendo desde las once de la noche...) Y no sé si fue porque lo cogí con ganas o qué pero vamos...OMG.

Ahora sobre el que nos interesa, la segunda mejor dicho: cuarta parte: Hacía tiempo que me había leído la trilogía de Almas Gemelas, y me daba mucha cosa no reengancharme de la misma manera porque hubiese olvidado la sensación de leer la primera parte o hubiese olvidado a los personajes, pero la verdad, no sé cómo lo hace la autora que comencé a leer y es como si acabase de leer todo lo anterior. En serio, da igual cuánto haga desde que te lo leíste, es como si no hubiese pasado el tiempo y eso me encantó porque pude engancharme bien.

Antes de nada tengo que decir que...¡¡FLIPA COLEGA CON EL FINAL!! Que no termina, no, no termina...pero JODER QUÉ FINAL DE LIBRO. Estoy deseando que saque la otra parte (que sabemos que ya está en Estados Unidos, sólo queda que nos la traigan). Porque de verdad...más o menos, con dudas, muchas dudas, sospechas cómo va a ser el final del libro (porque vuelvo a decir que ahí no termina) y tanteas el terreno...more or less...pero NI DE COÑA puedes imaginar lo que se descubre en las diez últimas páginas. ES QUE ME QUEDÉ...BUAH. ME MUERO EN SERIO QUIERO YA EL SIGUIENTE PERO YA YA. JODER JODER JODER.

Y lo peor es casi al final cuando ME CAGUÉ DE MIEDO. Me imaginas a mí, a las dos de la madrugada, con sólo una lamparita encendida, todos durmiendo y yo leyendo la parte de...no lo cuento, tranquilos. Pero qué puto miedo. Es que me lo imaginaba y yo, "ay como esté aquí" "ay como pase algo así aquí".

Es cierto (no va a ser todo bueno) que al principio sólo te cuenta qué está pasando desde que terminó el libro anterior (creo que por eso te reengancha tan facilmente, como si acabaras de leer el otro). Pero engancha. MUCHO. En serio.

This was the third book in my pack of four that I didn't know were YA books before I bought them! So I won't give a rating because I'm sadly not a YA anymore. I liked it but I had no idea it was part of a series so the ending left me rather frustrated. There seem to be a lot of differences between a YA book and an adult book, well in the ones I've bought. I've noticed in the few I've read how everything seems to wallow along somehow - there doesn't seem to be any driving force compelling the act...more

A very good friend of mine got me hooked on the KISSED BY AN ANGEL (KBAA) series when I first came across the series in my local bookstore it was a coin toss and it didn't win-until Mikila told me that she had ordered a copy and it was a must read. I ordered my copy and now I'm hooked :)

I had no idea that Elizabeth Chandler was writing a sequel for Kissed By An Angel. I randomly saw Evercrossed on Borders.com one day and flipped out. I automatically became so happy I couldn't stand it while in school (I saw it in computer class) and for the rest of the day I assaulted my friends with "OMG THERES A SEQUEL" and they all thought I'd lost it.

I was both excited and reluctant to read this continuation of the Kissed by an Angel stories. On one hand, I absolutely fell in love with the drama and intensity of Ivy and Tristan’s love in Kissed by an Angel and couldn’t get enough of it. At the same time, though, the third installment wrapped up pretty neatly, and I wasn’t sure even Chandler would be able to bring the story back in a fresh and interesting way. While I wasn’t drawn to the story in Evercrossed, I did find myself marveling a bit about how much I enjoyed it. Maybe Chandler is capitalizing on the success of the Kissed by an Angel stories, but she’s doing it by writing a good story, so I really can’t complain. It’s just so easy to become immersed in Ivy’s life as she tries to sort out the supernatural and more ordinary problems in her life. I probably should have anticipated the abrupt ending in Evercrossed, and though I’m frustrated that Chandler doesn’t quite get to the really juicy stuff I sensed was coming, at least I know there has to be a continuation of the story, which I greatly look forward to.

Fans of Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chandler will not want to miss Evercrossed, nor will readers who enjoyed Far From You by Lisa Schroeder, Evermore by Alyson Noël, and Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater.

OMG....que puedo decir.... cada final en vez de ser mas esclarecedor revuelve todo mas y mas....
Cuando estaba tratando de asimilar que Tristán se había ido.... y que ya no había mas peligro... todo se vuelve a complicar...!!
Los demonios vuelven, aquellos capaces de hacer daños aún siguen rondando y el peligro es cada vez mayor.
Entre medio de todo esto, Ivy intenta retomar su vida con Will, pero los dos saben que por mas amor que haya no podrán superar a Tristán! Y cuando pensé que ya no me podía...more OMG....que puedo decir.... cada final en vez de ser mas esclarecedor revuelve todo mas y mas....

Desde que murió Tris, por mas amor que haya habido entre ellos ella estuvo con Gregory, Will, Guy.... al final, me estaba volviendo loca... agradezco que tenga todo una explicación... sino no habríamos terminado en buenos términos....
Que puedo decir, espero leer el 5to libro con muchas ansias, ya quiero saber que va a pasar finalmente con todo este embrollo, y recemosle a los ángeles para que existan un final feliz para cada uno de ellos....

i enjoyed this book. there isn't a lot of fast-oaced action, as it's more like a murder mystery type book, but instead of trying to figure out who the murder is, it's trying to figure out who Tristan has become and who Gregory is hinding inside.

This is definitely worth the read, though originally I wasn't going to bother. I am glad I did! Even though it has been years since I read the other Angel books, and I jumped straight into this with no pre-reading, I still found it exciting and fresh and completely gripping.

okaaaaaayyyy. can someone tell me why Elizabeth Chandler has brough this series back to the surface after about ten years since the first one?
i was surprised at the thinness of it compared to the other, but more surprised at the fact that she writ it at all! all the strings were tied up at the end of the last book with a soppy ending that made me cry, smile and laugh all over.

This is the 4th book in this series. Yes, before you say... "AH HAH! She has done it again!" I can explain! *looks innocent* I actually thought this was the first in this series. I think I somehow got the first confused with this one. Don't ask me how. That, even I don't have a clue how that happened. However, I do believe that this story would have read much better if I had read the first three books before I read this one. So, I suggest those that haven't read these stories pick up that first book that has the 3 stories in one tome all ready to go for us voracious readers. I might go back and read that one to see if it makes a difference in reading this story.

This book is very much a YA book and while I didn't connect with Tristan and Ivy's soulmate type of love (which makes sense for me) I could see that not even a year had passed and she already had another boyfriend. Now, I'm not doing a "how dare you" review as we all grieve differently, but it would seem that her new boyfriend would have realized that she would still be raw from grief even if Ivy wouldn't admit it herself. Especially since Tristan and the new boyfriend, Will, knew each other and both were in the previous adventure. I also was annoyed with her best friend, Beth. She was supposed to be her friend and would caution her being with the new "guy" that came into her life, but gave no whys or even got to know him so she could be specific. Her constant picking at the new guy really got on my nerves at times. I will say, however, the twists and parts trying to throw you off the trail were well done. Especially in a YA. I do caution you as I usually do with these type of endings; it is a cliffhanger.

I give this YA 3 stars. Although I had trouble with some of the characters, I did enjoy the writing and the mystery in this story. I do recommend that you read the first book which now has all 3 books together. The book is to be published today.

First Impression:

What do I say about this book?! I absolutely loved it just as much as the fist book. This was a turn pager for sure and couldn't help but keep reading. Ugh! I'm still thinking of everything happened, there was definately a shocker in here! It really had such vivid detail, and such loveable characters...there really isn't anything that I hated about this book because everything that these characters went through, had to happen.

I adore, absolutely adore the Kissed by an Angel series, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book!
