Reading for Rizal Course

*****

Dr. Jose Rizal may be our dear national hero and we look up to him but he lived (or at least wants to) a normal life like us Filipinos. Read this one from page 1 to the end.
Rizal is an interesting chap, through the penwork of Dr. Zaide.

Masyadong OA ang pagdedescribe kay Rizal. I know that he's a hero and all that great stuffs but just how Zaide described everything is pretty annoying. Zaide made Rizal overrated

I'm reading this for my Rizal subject in school, and even though it's the best Rizal book I've found, it's still horribly written. The entire book is like crudely written fanfiction typed in the wee hours of the morning by a hardcore Rizal fanboy. Most of the passages are patronizing and distracting. It's like the whole book focuses more on the author gushing about Rizal, telling us how much of an awesome, unparalleled genius he is, and oh! that he's the greatest Filipino to have ever lived. I actually read this book three times already. The life of Rizal is really inspiring and I love his student life most. It makes me want to do my best in school.
