This book was OK, verging on bad. The world had the beginnings of some good ideas, but those were never explored. The characters weren't really fleshed out, and their motivations were either unclear or made no sense. I'm willing to be a little lenient because it is written for kids and for a 9 or 10 year old, who isn't looking for deep characters or interesting exploration of ideas, it probably serves its purpose.

A bit strange to start with, however did get a bit better towards the middle. Not much of a story exactly. This is in the ummm category. Not sure if you should bother - there are better reads out there.
