Social Movements in the Global South: Dispossession, Development and Resistance
Popular struggles in the global south suggest the need for the development of new and politically enabling categories of analysis, and new ways of understanding contemporary social movements. This book shows how social movements in Africa, South Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East politicize development in an age of neoliberal hegemony.

Valuable and compelling alternative to the "resource mobilization" literature that dominates the field. However, the postcolonial concentration on discourse and associated culture still leaves much to be desired. I look forward to comparing this volume with Hibou's The Force of Obedience.
