Just in time for baseball season!

Babe Ruth came from a poor Baltimore family and, as a kid, he was a handful. It was at a reform school that Babe discovered his talent for baseball, and by the age of nineteen, he was on his way to becoming a sports legend. Babe was often out of shape and even more often out on the town, but he had a big heart and an even bigger swing! Ki

This book is about a man who got into a lot of trouble (as a boy and in adult hood), played practical jokes on his friends, but he was a baseball king. People already know that he played for the New York Yankees but would it shock you if I told you he got traded from the Boston Red Sox because he was not doing good? Well you got to read it if you want to find out. But I highly recommend this book to kids 7+ but this book was really interesting.

Who was Babe Ruth is a book about the telling of Babe Ruths life. Babe Ruth was a very big trouble maker, his was so bad that he got sent off to boarding school. In boarding school he got better and better at baseball and he got called up to the minors, about a couple years later he got called up to pay with the red Sox and got traded from there on. I would recommend this book to people who are in to baseball.

Well. What can you expect. This book is about one the best baseball players in the world, Babe Ruth. It follows since childhood to adulthood. One of the things that surprise is that he died because he had throat cancer. Overall this is a great book and I recommend it to anybody who likes sports.

Who was Babe Ruth? Grades 2-3, nonfiction.

There are a ton of books in this Who Was/is series, but I decided to read Babe Ruth's, due to my love for baseball stories. These books are fantastic because they are simply written, so they are very accessible to all readers. I really like the story of Babe Ruth, how he started as a pitcher, but his hitting was so valuable they covered him to a position player.

I think this would be a good nonfiction book, and its tie to baseball could make it more inte

Babe Ruth played for the Yankees. He also played for the Red Socks. He was the king of baseball in the 1920's.Babe Ruth struggled against smoking. One of the themes is if something is bad for you don't do or stop doing it. I thought this book was a very good book because it teaches you many stuff. I think kids from 7 and up can start reading this book. Why I gave this book 5 stars were because it teaches you how they use to play back then, and it also tells you about Babe Ruth's history.

{My thoughts} – I really enjoyed reading this book. I am always interested in learning more about well-known individuals from our countries history. Baby Ruth is a baseball legend that nearly everyone has heard about at one point or another in their lives. Even more so those individuals that are baseball fans.

I learned a lot of interesting things about his history, upbringing and career that I hadn’t known before I’d read the book. It has always intrigued me how someone so important in baseball

The book "Who was Babe Ruth" by Joan Holub was a really enjoyable and interesting book. I really enjoyed the book because the book had a lot of graphics that really help me understand the biography better. Usually when I read long, old, boring biographies, I get confused.
The book starts with a really good brief summary of who Babe is. When George(babe) was a child, he was really dishonest. But at the same time, he was kind-hearted and was willing to help others. He often stole fruits from fru

Babe Ruth, the Yankees legendary baseball king, grew up poor and unruly. His parents could not handle the rowdy boy who was full of endless energy. They abandoned him when he was 7 and sent him to St. Mary's Industrial School and left him there. He never saw his mother again. His parents never visited him.

At St. Mary's, however, he found two things...a loving father-figure in Brother Matthias who was a gentle, yet firm guide for a boy out-of control and his love of baseball. Who knows what woul

Who was Babe Ruth is a great biography for young children to read. Babe Ruth is a legendary baseball player and someone children will always be interested in. In my opinion, many many boys would read this book especially if they are interested in baseball themselves. This book would inspire those to pursue their dreams in baseball and read about how Babe Ruth got to the Major leagues himself. I thought it was interesting that the cover of the book was in color but when the pictures were ...more

This book was a pretty interesting book. I learned a lot about Babe Ruth that I probably would have never knew if I hadn't read this book. I learned he broke a lot of records. I also learned that he changed the way most Americans look at baseball today! The author mentioned that she never liked baseball until someone asked her to do a biography on him. "After I got done writing that biography I absolutely loved baseball and loved Babe Ruth!" Said the author at the end of the book. When I was ...more

I read this book called Who Was Babe Ruth by: Joan Holub. This book is a nonfiction book. The setting is all over the place because he grows up and a lot of things happen. The main character is just mainly him because he does move a lot but no one stays with him the whole time! It is about a guy named George, he is a misbehaved child so his parents send him to an orphanage and they teach kids how to play baseball there. As he grows up he decides to do interesting things which will be mention if ...more

Babe Ruth was a good person in baseball history. Babe Ruth was also a really good baseball player on the New York Yankees. He was really one of the best. Babe Ruth had a tuff childhood without his parents to support him but it was all worth it he turned out to become a baseball star. I loved this book. Personally, I have always loved informative books about famous people. It tells you a lot of great facts about the famous baseball player, Babe Ruth, that you would have never known about it. This was an easy and a fun biography to read. You can read it in a day. I would recommend this book to people who naturally like to learn random facts about a person, and who like informative books.

The writing was okay, but I was never blown away by his story. I also felt like the author basically said that Babe Ruth was super disrespectful of authority, rules, etc. but that it didn't matter much because he became famous anyway. I wish there could have been a moral or a lesson he learned after he was so rude to his parents or during one of the many times he disobeyed game regulations. For being such a legend, I didn't end the story admiring him.

This book was a great biography about Babe Ruth. I told me a lot about him. The only reason I read this, is because of a project we had to do in fourth grade, and I am happy I read this. The only problem is that it feels like the book drags along a little bit. But still, I love the book a lot.

I chose to pair this book with My Dad's Baseball by Ron Cohen. Who is Babe Ruth goes into the life of baseball legend Babe Ruth and his rise to stardom. My dad's Baseball shows the other side of being a spectator, watching a game, and meeting a baseball legend. It shows how magical is can be to someone to see these great athletes playing the sport.
