This is an adaption of Moorcock's first trilogy starring Corum. It is only the first part, that is written by Mike Baron and drawn by Mignola, though the following parts follows the path mapped out by those two.

I read Moorcock's books years ago, and found this comic to be a faithful adaption. I'm wondering how it would read, for someone without prior knowledge of the universe of the Eternal Champion.

Much like his Elric series... the creativity in this is spectacular. For recent fans of fantasy fiction, they must realize that some of the tropes they come across were not tropes in MM's books, he made them. I like the Corum versions of the eternal champion in the multiverse because MM draws upon Celtic mythos in a vague way, better than if approaching the demigods straight on.
