This was the selection for the Cache LAPoudre bookclub this month. I admit, I was skeptical about reading it. I thought the title is kind of lame and I don't really like self help/doctrinal books, so I borrowed it from a friend and figured I would scan the book so that I could discuss it and support Norma, who chose the book. Well, I read all night. I loved it. This book actually changed the way I view myself and my realtionship with God.
In our meeting Tuesday night, we discussed...more

I needed to have an LDS audio book to listen to during my trip home to Delaware, as well as for future Sunday drives to and from church. I ended up buying more than one, but this was one that I had aimed for. Well, it was anything by Sheri Dew--especially if she was reading it herself! "No Doubt about It" was not available, and I had wanted to read this one as well, so I bought this.

It was wonderful. I have always greatly admired Sis. Dew. I look up to her in many ways and she is a...more

I highly recommend this book but when I do I always tell people to skip the first couple chapters...or at least get through them. This book was bought as a gift for me. I tried reading it stopped after the first 2 chapters...It just seemed to tell the same old fluff. Then the bookclub I belonged to chose this. I decided since I already had it I would give it another shot. I am really glad I did because just after the first 2 chapters it gets really good and I learned a great deal of insight. ...more

This is my first book I have read by her. I always enjoyed her talks, but it meant a lot to have her read it to you on CD,because she emphasized things I probably would not have picked up on...as any writer would do. I love this book because it makes me have to agree things are not so bad off as I believe them to be. We have trials to be lifted up, sure we hear that..but it really didn't mean much to me until I read this book. Sheri Dew is awesome and definitely my role model!

Bravo...

Very insightful if I do say so myself.

I was pretty disappointed in the first chapter or maybe the first two... when I felt rather bored.. I was thinking," wow.. this isn't anything I haven't heard before... how dull."...

But KEPT READING...

I really did find her chapters on Charity and Chasity REALLY good. I definitely felt the Spirit while reading her book.. and felt like I walked away with some really great viewpoints/ideas.

I have always enjoyed Sheri Dew's insights on life. She promotes action as opposed to loathing. I was given this book by a good friend in a time when I was battling the death of a family member. At that time nothing was boosting my spirits...but for the short while I was reading this book I actually did feel better about life and knew that it was up to me to discover how to move forward.

There was so much to learn from this book. Basically that we are put on earth to go through trials... that is how we learn and grow. Nothing is to bad or hard for us to overcome and we are not alone.
Sheri is my alltime favorite author/speaker. it's not just because I am partial to her name!! she has a way of putting things that I immediately understand. I just love her!

If you've ever gone through a trial that you thought you just couldn't overcome, then this book is for you. It's inspiring, uplifting, and enlightening! Sometimes it's hard to see a clear path out of your trials when you're in the midst of so much heartache, but Sheri helps you to remember that you're NEVER alone, and that we all have amazing strength within us.

One of my favorite things about this book was reading the story about her and her friend house hunting. They found a house and her friend asked her to pray. Sheri prayed with her, and said, if there's something better please guide us.

I was at a time in my life when I needed to ask for better things. It was a simple but deep lesson, and it blessed my life.

Slow at first, but about the middle it picked up and I found myself whipping out my pen, underlining passages and writing in my journal, and bringing up questions with people. It gave me a glimpse of life outside my own sheltered home, which was troubling and startling, but hopefully I'm a better person for being aware of it.

This book was so easy to read and hard to put down. It has awesome insights and wonderful stories/examples. Not just the typical "self help" kind of things. I loved the parts where she talks about our relationship with God and there's a chapter in middle about how we treat each other that is a real eye opener.

It always amazes me how things (a book in this case) come into your life at just the right time. The things Sheri Dew writes about in this book were exactly what I needed to hear. She talks about charity and what it really means to seek it, and how to be changed by it. It was an easy read and very up lifting.

I also love anything by Sheri Dew. I've heard her speak several times, and her books are always just as great. She writes, "Our mortal experience is designed to test what we really care about, what we really believe, what we really want to become, and how we really feel about our Father and His Son."

I listened to this one on CD every time I was cleaning. It is wonderful. Sheri Dew talks about how an understanding of basic Gospel truths can help make our burdens light. Trials give us the opportunity to draw nearer to our Savior and become stronger than before.

I learned that it's true that if life were easy it wouldn't be hard. It's not supposed to be easy. The hard is what makes it all worth it in the end. After all, anything worth having is worth struggling for and what could be more worth having that eternal happiness?

I listened to this one on CD. It was a nice change from reading. Great stories on the difference between burdens and baggage in the trials of life. Makes you want to focus on Christ to work through the burdens, steer clear of baggage and repent when you mess up!

This book was given to me by Ms Janine. I love it and
was grateful that she thought of me on my birthday. It's
a great read and easy to get through. It's full of
inspirational stories and good tips on how to live a
better life. I really needed that.

This is wonderful! I love all of Sherri Dew's books, but this one is an extra good reminder that not all of life is supposed to be easy and smooth, but that we can be made stronger, better, and be the person that Heavenly Father wants us to be.

Sheri Dew is great! I love to read anything she has written. This book helps to put things into perspective and realize that we have much more than we know and being thankful is way to show our love for our Father in Heaven. Very uplifting!!
