Dragon Bound (Elder Races #1)
Half-human and half-wyr, Pia Giovanni spent her life keeping a low profile among the wyrkind and avoiding the continuing conflict between them and their Dark Fae enemies. But after being blackmailed into stealing a coin from the hoard of a dragon, Pia finds herself targeted by one of the most powerful–and passionate—of the Elder Races.
As the mo...more

★★★★★ Yes, five full stars! One of the best paranormal/fantasy books I’ve read this year! I wanted to read it faster, but real life got in the way. As it was, I had it planned for a future “buddy read” and peeked at the first few pages. Three chapters later I was e-mailing my GR friend to hint around about moving this one up in our queue; luckily, she agreed. Ha! Indeed, she finished the book before I did. This is the first...more
This dialogue is said by Dragos to Pia and sums up one the reasons I loved this book. An alpha, a predator falling like a ton of bricks check, a heroine who challenges him and calls him on it check, some sexy back-up sentinels check and an extremely well done world-building and romance check. So, see this book...more
I had never heard of this author before. I came across her name in Amazon's paranormal romance forum. She was getting some buzz as a good new PNR author. I'm thrilled that I found her! I've read all of the major PNR series and many of the minor ones, and I struggle to find new great books to read in the genre. So many of the ones I've tried lately have just been good/ok, but not this one--it was great! I enjoyed it as much as...more

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! This time the author endorsements and reader hype are more than justified! I haven’t been this blown away by a paranormal romance debut or as energized and jazzed about a new PNR series in a long time. Not since diving into the addictive worlds of J.R. Ward’s bold, unbeatable Black Dagger Brotherhood, Lara Adrian’s mesmerizing Midnight Breed, Larissa Ione’s distinctive, dark Demonica, and Nalini Singh’s unique Psy-Changeling have I gotten such a thrill...more
Back and front to give it 4 or 5.. I decided 4,5 stars, but dammit GR don't have a half star system, so yes, 5 stars is good :P
Edited : I give 4 stars, because I love the second, Storm's Heart, and that book is better than Dragon Bound
This one is my favorites read this year, even not my top 10 read (this usually for my 5++ stars book, where in case, ther...more
Holy crackers, I loved this book! The world that Thea Harrison has created is flat out unique and amazing. It was so refreshing and so engrossing. There were amazingly tender moments, extremely sexy moments, laugh out loud moments and moments where our hero and heroine kicked some serious ass. I'm a sucker for a great fantasy novel, and Harrison does not disappoint with Dragon Bound.
Harrison introduces us to a powerful alpha-predator, Dragos. Even the name is fierce. No, itty bitty cutesy dragon...more
Dragons! Yay Dragons!
Totally lived up to the hype.
Pia is on the run after being blackmailed by her loser ex-boyfriend into stealing one of the richest, and most dangerous dragon alive's-- treasure. Everyone knows, you don't mess with a dragon's treasure.
Dragos is bored. Life is boring. Wohoo, made more money. Business crisis, yada yada, yada, who cares. What is a bored dragon to do when he finds a piece of his treasure stolen? Take to the sky and smite yon build...more
Well, not so much the first half - that was just meh. The writing was good, but I just could not get into it. Pia was annoying, but Dragos (insert besotted smile here) was cute from the very beginning.
The second half however, is gold, pure gold. I could not stop giggling while i was reading it. it was funny and sweet and cute.
Pia was actually a very worthy heroine. She was kick-ass, smart, funny, and snarky while still managing to be gentle, and sweet and cute (those three w...more
Read this book. Don’t diddle around expecting to hear it isn’t worth the hype. I’m telling you – as a former skeptic – it is! Pia Giovanni is the kind of heroine I love. Smart, strong, quick-humored, and capable of rational-thinking. Her inner-dialogue had me snickering nearly as much as her witty banter. Pia is no misguid...more
Now please don’t kill me or anything but I didn’t like it so much. I’ll even tell you why later on. I have good reasons and hopefully you won’t beat me up.. too much.
Ok so we have a dragon who’s older than dirt, a selfish little (or not) bastard who loved to collect shiny things. Then this girl comes and steals a penny. She replaces the penny but stil...more
What's not to love about a Dragon shifter? ...
Dragos Cuelebre = HAWT! You just don't have any idea how hot this guy was. Seriously, my fav in a while, I loved everything about him. The guy was totally alpha material, a caveman on the loose, LOL. He was all you're mine and there's no d...more
Wow... Just wow!
This book got me from the 1st page and it kept going better and better. And when Dragos said “I do not endanger my treasures.” I knew I was a goner.
The book is set in an alternate Earth with beings from myths and tales: dragons, harpies, light and dark Fae...
Dragos is one of the most(if not the THE most) ancient and powerful beings in the world. He is a Dragon with the temper and acquisitiveness of one. He likes beautiful and unique things. And then comes Pia Giovanni who...more
“So, is that your long, scaly, reptilian tail, or are you just happy to see me?”
What an amazing new world Thea Harrison has created. It’s a world filled with elves, faeries, goblins, gryphons and of course our hero, a dragon. Dragos, having been alive for a long, long time, has over time, collected things. A lot of things. He’s hidden his massive collections of everything from artifacts to gold to coins, all over the world. Enter Pia, being blackmailed by...more
Definitely a favorite for 2011.
Yay!! I emailed Ms. Harrison to tell her how much I like the book and she emailed me back and said:
Thanks so much for writing! I’m thrilled you had a good time with the book, and Dragos and Pia DO pop up in subsequent stories. Currently it lo...more
Dragon Bound was a whole lot more than a book about dragons though and had tons of other fascinating creatures in an equally fascinating world! However, I think I might have wanted to love it a bit too much and instead ended up a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely a good and unique story, but there was ju...more
Dragos is the last of his kind. A powerful dragon who has lived since the beginning of time. He is used to barking orders and people obeying his every command. Along comes Pia, a young halfling who is blackmailed into stealing an object from the dragon's hoard. When she succeeds in taking something from Dragos, which is unthinkable, he hunts her down, only to find that the little theif is not at all what he was expecting. Can her love tame t...more
Alright, I get it now. I loved the book, but I dont think im too interested in the second book. The hero for the second book is hardly around.
Huh. I think I've got it now. I've read this story again and I love it, and this time I paid special attention to Tiago. He's a pretty interesting cat, I should be excite...more
I loved, loved, loved both Pia and Dragos and I loved them more (if that is possible) together. Dragos was a mean, crotchety old man or dragon and Pia made him young again, I loved the transformation. I even had a few laughs, when Dragos and Rune tried a cherry slurpy and licorice, it was pretty funn...more
Hot stuff. With amusing first-person (hers) narration and dialogue. Also, he's a friggin' DRAGON. Ahahahaha!

He shook his head and drank too. “No, cupcake,” he said. “I’m pretty sure you’ve replaced it.”
