Review:

Julianne is in a bit of a quarry. Her husband has been dead about a year. She believes his death was not a suicide as it was ruled, but a murder. Her step-son is about her age and has never liked her. He is now threatening to cut her off if she doesn’t marry his friend, who Julianne abhors. She has also been contacted by an unknown individual. Her husband had obtained some ancient d...more

Touch of A Rogue was a super nice surprise for me. I don't normally read historical romances, but lately I've been trying to read outside my comfort zone because I've been discovering some really great books! Touch of A Rogue is one of them. Now, I am not in love with it, but I definitely did enjoy it. I think it's the way they speak that sort of throws me off. I am all for watching movies that take place in the old days, but reading a book in that era has never been my cup of tea. The reason I...more

Jacob and Julianne's story was an interesting one. It was full of secrets and danger that take you into the underworld of a secret society. Jacob is a rake in the first order who finds himself falling in love with the only woman who can shake his beliefs. The only problem is that she has learned never to give her heart. She's suffered great loss and finds that opening herself up to Jacob can be her salvation instead of her downfall. Jacob and some of his family have powers they've kept hidden fr...more

A good sign that none of my GR friends have read this series should have told me something...but the stubbornness in me wouldn't let it go.

It didn't have the usual kick like my HR reads but to be fair, the characters were developed, the plot had mystery, action and plenty of hot love scenes. I finished and will continue onto the next book, that says something right?

Anyway, what had my strung along was the storyline. I was intrigued by the mystical gifts the Prestons had and how they de...more

Mia Marlowe continues her fabulous Touch of Seduction series with another great installment. TOUCH OF A ROGUE is a sexy, compelling historical that will leave you breathless and begging for more!

Jacob Aubrey Preston has never had a carnal taste for unmarried women. He prefers his lovers to be married and enthusiastic in the bedroom. Lady Julianne, the widowed Countess of Cambourne, may be the exception to his rule when he discovers this irresistible woman only meets the last requirement. Despite...more

This was a pretty interesting read. I don’t normally read anything paranormal but tried this one. Both lead characters are likeable and get along great together. She first contacts him because she needs his help finding a missing sixth dagger. She plans to sell the set because she desperately needs the money. They have great chemistry and the sex scenes are hot.

I didn’t mind hearing about Jacob’s gift of sight but I was totally uninterested in reading about Druids and won’t again. I also didn’t...more
A Voracious Reader (a.k.a. Carol)
Lady Julianne Tyndale, the Countess of Cambourne, needs to hire Jacob Preston for two things: to prove her husband didn’t kill himself and to find the mysterious sixth and final dagger in a matching set. Financial security is her goal because if she can find the sixth dagger she can sell the set to a buyer for a great sum of money and live comfortably in her widowhood. She has no intention of giving up her independence for a man.

Jacob Preston doesn’t bandy about that he has a special ability. He...more

I was pretty disappointed by this one. Not that it didn't have its merits, but it was not nearly as good as the first one. I liked how subtle the paranormal element was in the first one, just a hint of flavor in the plot, but in this one it just took over the whole story and beat you over the head. Jacob is the cousin of Viola from the first book, and he has the same gift with metal that she has with jewels, except much more overwhelming. Crazy visions and pains and hallucinations and the like....more

This one was predictable but if you're looking for a bodice ripper with supernatural undertones, this will entertain. When the heroine (independent widow with gumption and a secret past)and the hero (infamous rake, member of the upper class, with a secret power to "read" the secrets within metals) are not tearing each other's clothes off, they are tracking down evil druid masters and murderers. What better entertainment for a dull, hot summer afternoon?

3.5 Stars.

Not as solid a book as the first installment. The main characters were engaging - I loved Jacob - but the plot felt a bit melodramatic. The elements were TOO fantastical, and there were too many of them. Some of the plot points were not tied up, either, and the ending seemed rushed. On the other hand, the chemistry between the main characters was good, and overall the writing and dialogue were excellent.

I won an ARC copy of the third book in this series (Touch of a Scoundrel), which I...more

First off...I didn't know this was the 2nd in the series, then I couldn't get into a story where the guy learns things from touching metal. It's some sort of strange gift he has. Not interested.

Jacob is a metal mage and Julianne needs him to find a druid daggar and to solve the mystery of her husband's death.
He is a notorious rogue and renouned lady's man. She is a retired actress.
The story starts well enough, lags a bit in the center and picks up again at the end. I had difficulty getting to like either of the characters and I can not put a finger on the why's. They are however well suited to each other.

Touch of a Rogue is a fun book to spend an evening with. The characters are engaging, the paranormal elements handled well, and the chemistry pops off the page.

I picked it off the New Fiction display and devoured it very quickly. And then went back for the first one.
Mary
A very good read. I loved the paranormal slant to the book. It was nice to read something a little different.
Nicky
Not quite as good as the first. And a little slow starting out. But once I got into it, I couldn't put it down. So nice seeing Viola and Quinn again.
Marie
Thoroughly enjoyable. Great mixture of intrigue, myth and romance.
