Anya Millar had no memory of her life or an instruction manual on how to navigate the insane world of humans, biting, and reality. Instead, Anya has had to learn to navigate the world of love, life, and sanity while avoiding those that would see her dead or enslaved.

This is the ongoing journey of Anya and Nicholas, human loving vampires and the human they love, Declán. Wha...more

Better Read Than Dead (Kelly & Kristin)
Ahhh… What a story! I have so many feelings about this novel that I do not know where to begin. Let me start by saying…no matter what criticisms I have, I absolutely adored the book. The characters were dynamic and intriguing. The story itself was very interesting. But…before going into all of that, let’s talk about the characters.

Anya – A vampire who will forever be 16. She has unique powers I dream about having…especially since I have children. It would be great to just speak and they would b...more

Anya Millar knows she’s not a normal vampire. She loves humans too much to be a predator. What she doesn’t know is why she can’t remember a thing before waking up in the house of an immortal who has taken her in and cared for her. As Anya begins to piece together the past, with the help of others claiming to be old friends, she finds that some things are better left forgotten.
In an effort to move forward with her life and live in harmony with humans, Anya decides high school would be the best p...more
Intoxicated by Books
Anya Millar is not your ordinary vampire. There aren't many like her. Most that are like her are destroyed because they are considered an abomination to their kind. Anya has color in her eyes, they aren't a black void like the eyes of others of her kind. Only the vampires that don't feed from humans have color in their eyes.

Anya has a special power though. She can hurt people with her voice. The Educators want to change her. They want to turn her into a weapon. They want to train her to use her...more

I must admit that before I started reading this book I thought it was like any other book about vampires…. maybe similar to Twilight, but in this case, the girl was the vampire and the boy was the human. But how wrong I was! Don't judge a book by it's cover! Because after reading several pages, I noticed that the story is more complex than that, and that the similarities with Twilight disappear after a few pages.

Blood's Voice tells us the story of Anya, a young vampire who suffers from amnesia,...more

Blood's Voice is a unique tale of vampires and those they love. Anya is a vampire that has no memories of anything previous to the start of the book. She knows she's a vampire and that's about the gist of it. She remembers nothing of her previous life, which makes knowing how to blend into a society of humans that much harder. It helps that she is one of very few vampires that refuses to take blood from humans; she is strictly into animals. Anya decides to enroll in High School to hopef...more

First of all, there are a ton of good reviews on this book so my opinion will not be very popular. And for that I am sorry. I think the idea behind the story was really good and unique but I could not get passed the technical issues. I know I have positively reviewed books with technical issues before but in those cases the issues did not trip me up constantly and force me to have to put it down out of frustration.

The sentences were awkwardly worded in some cases, and in other they just did not...more

What I liked: 1) There was definitely a unique writing style here. It's written from Anya's point of view, but we got her thoughts as well as her actions, every single one of them. Even those little impressions that she got of people while in general conversation. It was really interesting, and you were never left wondering what Anya was thinking. It was also very real, in that aspect. I know that my own thoughts are often jumbled, and jump around and take a while to sort out. This potentially c...more

Blood Voice by Aine Massie is book # 1 in the House Millar series. I found the storyline for Blood Voice intriguing, but I had a hard time getting through the story because of the way sentences were phrased. At first I wasn't really liking Anya and I found her extremely immature, but as the story progressed I was happy to see that it was all uphill from there. We are introduced to some interesting characters like Nicholas and Declan. There seems to be this interesting chemistry between the three...more

This novel was promising. Oh, so promising. The premise was interesting and the blurb sounded awesome. I liked the fact that Anya was the main character and that she was a vampire who had lost her memories. I also liked parts of Nicholas and Declán's personalities. I completely fell in love with their strange relationship because it took the whole YA love-triangle thing to another level. I could also see that there was a definite vision in this story, something that, if executed properly, would...more

First of all, I had a little trouble getting into the book as some of the writing felt very formal. Once I got used to the writing style, it kept my attention and a beautiful tale of romance and redemption unfolded. Anya is a vampire who has special abilities that set her apart from the average vampire. An insatiable desire to protect humans emerges through the entire book as well as her blooming romance with Declan, her human love, and Nicholas her vampire love.
Some of the story is hard to foll...more

This is a well thought out story about a vampire with a strange series of problems. I have never seen a vampire story quite like this one (a good thing about this one is it's different). Anya has no memories and then somehow manages to find herself maneuvering through the human world with two men who love her and an unknown enemy that is hell bent on destroying anything needed to get her back, especially her sanity.

I have to say I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to more about Anya, D...more

After the first few pages of this book, my guard was up. There's a surplus of technical errors made in the writing style. Lack of commas, sentences phrased incorrectly...things like that. Not being one to quit so easily, I continued on with great trepidation.

I was really glad that I did! The technical errors continue throughout the story, but for me it was sort of easy to overlook because I was engrossed in a fabulous story and a steamy romance. I'll admit t...more

Just when I thought Vampires were all the same Aine Massie comes in with her unique blend of how vampires are in her book "Blood's Voice". At first I was dragging my feet through the first hundred pages then again for the next hundred. I enjoyed how different the vampires were but I didn't connect well with the main character and I didn't like the dialogue and thats weird for me to say since I rarely dislike how the books are written and the main characters them self. I just felt that Anya was t...more

Book Review: 0 treasure box/0 trash can

Anya Millar has been a vampire for several hundreds of years, but she has amnesia and cannot remember her past, all she knows for certain is that she will not feed off humans. One of her special gifts is her voice, and not because she can carry a beautiful tune, but because it is a weapon that can be used to control or even kill people, including other vampires.

Blood's voice is the first book written by a new author and it is the first book in a proposed se...more

I received this book for review from the author as part of her virtual book tour. I did not receive any compensation for my review, and the views expressed herein are my own.

This book is about a vampire named Anya, who is forever a teenager. I do not believe her exact age was mentioned, but she is about 16 or 17 years old. She was abducted and held against her will for three decades by a group of mysterious people called The Educators who tried to turn Anya into a lethal weapon. When she finall...more
