Author Jerry Klinkowitz is an English professor in Iowa who wandered into a long term relationship with a minor league ballclub. “Owning a Piece of the Minors” is a series of seven short essays he wrote about various aspects of baseball throughout his life, mostly touching on his membership in the community organization that owned the local Single A level team in Waterloo, Iowa through the mid 1990s. This is an insider's look into minor league baseball. The author after a long hiatus from baseball rediscovers it in the small city of Waterloo, Iowa. He becomes one of the owners of a community owned team.
