Nobody's perfect--but she's close
As Mirabelle Island's only doctor, Sean Griffin is in demand--for his medical expertise. As a single guy...well, in a community this small, his social calendar isn't exactly full. Doesn't seem to matter how eligible this bachelor may be when there aren't single women around. Then Grace Kahill moves back and things are looking up. A former

This was ok, but not that interesting a read, mainly I think because none of the main characters or conflicts really resonated for me, and everything gets wrapped up rather tidily. The heroine seemed particularly flat, despite the fact that we're constantly reminded of what a feisty trouble-maker she was as a child; I get that she's the walking wounded, but she didn't seem to have much of a personality. There was also a secondary storyline involving a husband cheating on his wife, which added a ...more

Love, love, loved it. Brenna gave it a great small town feel without bombarding the book with the characters from previous books in the series - and with how most authors like to do that, it was a huge relief to see the focus of the book being on the central couple and their own personal issues. She made Grace a very likable heroine struggling with romantic trust, body image, and letting herself relax. Sean was a hero that managed to be gruff and manly without being overly so, and it was great t ...more
I picked up this book because it was written by a fellow WisRWA member whose stories have garnered numerous 4 1/2 star ratings from RT. Another of her books won the RITA for 2010. I found it a very enjoyable read and can see why her Island to Remember Series has been such a big hit. The combination of small town flavor and interesting character made me feel like I was right there on the island with them. A very nice, warm, escape! (Especially since I read this story in the cold of winter.)
Although it wasn't mentioned in the blurb, I love the 'secret baby' trope, however this secret baby is a surly teenager. I couldn't get behind the hero and heroine's second chance love story knowing she kept his child from him that long. This was a DNF for me.

I actually give this 3.5 stars. Heck, it kept me up until 2am! When I opened the book, I realized two things, 1) This author wrote "The Pursuit of Jesse" and 2) This is like part 2 of a series that started with above mentioned book. WAY cool! Now, to get my hands on the 3rd book......
