This is a short Cliff-Notes/Idiots Guide/For Dummies book that is straight forward and easy to read and didn't read like a textbook to me. The book covers key events and the reasons behind but does not go into any great detail.

When they said "a brief history" they weren't kidding. It's more like the Civil War in 60 seconds. Good book if you're craming for a test or need to brush up.

Yes, I’m categorizing this as only half-way read despite the fact that this is the shortest book ever produced. Maybe some others in this “mini” series are shorter? Maybe it doesn’t qualify as a “book” as a digital-only format? It cost like five bucks so I should have suspected something - shame on me.

I have no problem with the syntax - which is reasonably good for such conciseness. When I’m distractedly reading this on a 22 minute subway commute and I find that I’m 70% complete, I lose interest

A very brief look at the civil war. It discusses the causes in a couple of pages. The battles are just a sentence or two. The major histrical figures get the same coverage. The after effects of the war are given more pages then the war. It is more a long article then a book. If you knew nothing about the Civil War then I would say take a look other wise lok else where for an introduction to the subject.

It was like reading a pamphlet. Very short, but interesting.
