This is from the "rescuing animals from disasters" series.

Hard to read, but great book. Explains a lot of layers (which animals are affected, how long those effects can linger in the ecosystem, etc) and history of oil spills in America and around the world. It's not political, just states what happened and where. Nice profiles of scientists working to save animals and how they accomplished that.

My only warning is thematic. The picture of a dead dolphin could be very troubling to sensitive kids
