As a new steampunk novel, Destiny's Fire delivers with a lot of action, steamy scenes and a fantastic futuristic setting. On the brink of extinction, enemy races Narcolym and Shythe are going to have to learn to live with each other, because Haven Falls' protective barrier has come down.

While I had difficulty at the start, I ended up captivated by the world that Trish has built. Right from the beginning we're thrown into this world with Nacrolyms, Shythe, and the intriguing history surrounding t...more

In a nutshell, DESTINY'S FIRE made me hate Trisha Wolfe. I'm talking SERIOUS hate--like fuming, loathing, hair-ripping hatred that leads to chainsaws and lighter fluid. Basically, this book made me realize how far I have to go before I pen a book as brilliant as DESTINY'S FIRE. Hence the hate.

On the reals: I loved the main character, Dez, and her struggle to find her place in a chaotic, turbulent world. The book's steamy scenes are hot enough to make the Sahara shiver, and the writing is brilli...more

If I love this book any more than I already do, I don't think it would be healthy! Destiny's Fire is one of those books you pick up not expecting much but end up loving unconditionally.

In Destiny's Fire, Trisha Wolfe creates one of the most unique, complex, and breathtaking stories you'll ever read about. At first the world may seem a little overwhelming, but you quickly get immersed in the thrilling world of the Kythan with their crazy-cool powers. There's also a fun steampunk element, too (wi...more

Destiny's Fire was for me what Jennifer L. Armentrout's books are for a lot of other people, I think - a quick, fun, fast-paced guilty pleasure with great worldbuilding and plenty of steamy romance. There were a lot of elements in this book that I don't normally like - a love triangle, [semi] insta-love, and a heroine that's totally unrealistic. But I've got to say that everything came together into a story that I devoured....more

Review: I must say that I honestly didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book. I knew I loved Trisha's writing from what I read in her short story Unveiled, but this was my first time reading a steampunk novel. But as soon as I started reading, all my worries flew away. Destiny's Fire grabbed me on page 1. Literally, and if you've read the book, you know why! Immediately in the story we meet Dez and the triplets - Jace, Lana, and Nick. We learn about th...more

Destiny's Fire was one of the best young adult reads for me this year. Since it will not be released from Omnific Publishing until 2012, I'm not going to do a full review here. Just know, the characters are amazing and I SO want to be their friend. The plot twists into something I wasn't quite expecting, but did add to my emotional turmoil in a good way. Intrigue, suspense, action, strong male and female characters...this book has it all. The fantasy elements are unique from others I've read in...more

Uuuugh, why? Please tell me why? Why would one ruin a gripping and fast-paced story, set in an imaginative and unique world with a stupid, painful and utterly unnecessary love triangle?!? God, I'm so mad. I really thought I was going to love this, because at first the story seemed so promising but no, of course there has to be a love triangle (and one of the worst kind) to rain on my parade. As soon as it was clear that there would be a LT everything went as expected. This story line is so old i...more

What can I say about Destiny's Fire? This is the type of book that makes me so happy to be part of the blogging community, because I'm not sure that I would have ever found it otherwise. And I'm going to warn you up front, I have major love for this book.

From the opening scene; fun, action-packed, and heated, I was hooked. The world in Destiny's Fire is what I'm going to call steampunk-light (I don't know if this is an actual word/phrase, but I'll go with it). Sometimes I find Steampunk books t...more

OH MY LORD!!! I'm amazed that this book was under my radar, but I am absolutely thrilled that I came across it! This was awesome, it was like Half-Blood and I Am Number Four mixed together into a brand new world! I have to say the book blurb does not do it justice, so I feel the need to write a detailed review. Wolfe has written a unique, exciting, sexy story that captivated me from beginning to end, and I absolutely loved it!

I really loved this book! I think it deserves a 4.5/5. The premise was amazing, and the idea of the Kythan and their abilities and their world. And I love private school stories, even though that aspect of the story didnt last long, I enjoyed it. Destiny was an awesome heroine, I really loved her. There were times when I questioned some of her decisions, but she must have been very confused and scared, so I can forgive her, especially since things turned out well in the end.

I love Reese. He was...more

Destiny's Fire was a mix of future, paranormal, and adventure, along with an extra spoonful of romance. I loved how all the themes were balanced, to appeal to a wide range of readers. The protagonist, Dez, was kick butt!, she had awesome powers, a great set of friends, and an unexpected love interest.

I went into the story thinking i had it all figured out from the first couple of chapters, that I knew how it's going to end, but I was pleasantly surprised with the ending. The author makes you th...more

This isn't out yet, so, no spoilers:

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's YA/steampunk goodness to the core. There is a love triangle, but it doesn't work the way you think it will...and I was unsure how it was going to go up until the very end! So hard to pick a team! (no but srsly Team Reese) (heh)
The dialogue is solid, very funny and authentic. The world the Kythan live in is realistic yet tinged with the steampunk/paranormal, which is so fun and cool to get into. Highly recommended. Get into...more

I was excited about Destiny's Fire right off the bat and it did not disappoint at all. In fact, it exceeded expectations in every way! The more I read, the more excited about the story I got. Trisha Wolfe, created an awesome storyline, cool kick butt characters, and gadgets worthy of the steampunk title. So many of the 2012 debuts have such a huge hype surrounding them, and Destiny's Fire deserves all of it.

The story focuses around Dez and her three triplet friends. They are all members of the S...more

At first I didn’t know if I was going to enjoy Destiny’s Fire because I wasn’t really sure if it was my style. But I really liked the book! It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole entire time and not a lot of books lately have done that for me. Trisha Wolfe did an amazing job writing the characters and there relationships.

I really loved that the book was based in the future, that’s something I didn’t know about but it was an awesome surprise. The only thing about the book that threw me a li...more

My Summary:

Dez has a secret. Her secret can't be shared with her best friend Jace or the Narolym, an enemy race of shape-shifters. But when her own Council lowers the barrier that protects her Shythe haven, Dez is suddenly facing more problems than protecting her secret. And as Dez is forced to confront her own shape-shifting abilities, she must choose between protecting her secret and trusting a Narolym that could change everything. Even as Dez finds out why the Narolym really came to her prote...more

FOfficially 1.5 stars~

Destiny's Fire starts out okay enough. We are introduced to Dez and her Shythe friends, who practice fighting in the Charge-powered club Cogs. Their fun is cut short when three Necros, enemies of their kind, drop in. Tensions rise when the two species are forced to live together in peace. Things get even more complicated when Dez becomes attracted to Reese, the leader of the three Necros that entered Cogs. And that's when things went downhill from there...

Unique and Imaginative world
Wow. Seriously Wow. No more vampires, werewolves, mermaids and paranormal creatures of the sort. Instead, we have Kythans, who are shape-shifter descendants of guardians who watched over European Pharaohs. There are two races, the Narcolym and Shythe, the lat...more

The first thing which comes into my mind after reading this book, is surprise. I’m still schocked how massively I enjoyed this story with its diverse and lively characters. Right from the beginning the story drew me in and didn’t let me loose until the last sentence.

I love the world Destiny’s Fire is set in. It’s the perfect steampunk. There are all these fascinating maschines and I like to read how this world is functioning. So fascinating. As fascinating as the mythologic background of the st...more

Edit:~~~~~My Review:
I have always been fascinated with the Steampunk world. This book is everything I've ever wanted in a Steampunk story and so much more. I was engaged from the first chapter and had a really hard time putting it down, it was enthralling!

What a fun book! Debut Trisha Wolfe has given us a world full of the paranormal with a good amount of steampunk thrown in!

This world of Haven Falls she created was so lifelike. I could see the steamships hovering in the bay emanating danger. I could imagine myself dancing in Cog’s seeing the steam and charge coming off of the stage. Also after reading Trisha’s playlist which she did for us on the blog tour you can find that post HERE. I could hear Devon’s band playing a Nine Inch Nails-ish type...more

Last month, if you told me that I would have read a steampunk novel and end up LOVING it, then I would have laughed maniacally at your face and tell you to f*** off. Hell, if you told me that yesterday, I would have.

Let me see. I'll start with why I'm a little *wary* of this. Do any of you remember the old cover? Yep. The one with the girl with the bad haircut and a head too big? With the super scary NOT hot guy? Yep. That's the one. (...more

Wow. That is the one word I'm left with!

Trish is a friend of mine, and I feel so lucky that I got to be a part of reading this story before it was published! I knew that Trish was talented, and she had amazing stories to share, and I'm so proud of her that she's on the shelves and more people get to read her awesomeness.

Destiny's fire was amazing. I love Dez's character. She has spunk and she's strong, all those traits that I admire and wish I had more of. She is relatable, and she has a great...more

Steampunk genres are a little hard for me to relate to. Not having read very many, they are sometimes hard for me to get into reading. But not Destiny’s Fire, oh no, I was hooked from the get go. Dez and her friends are out to figure out why the people they were raised to hate and defend themselves against are being allowed into their haven and their school. Why would the Council allow this to happen? What good will come from all of it? And most of all...why is Dez falling for one of them?

Between the gorgeous cover, the great story line, and the fact that Trisha is one of my agency sisters, I knew I had to read this book. But... I had no clue it was going to become one of my favorite reads in a long time. Seriously. I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. Dez is a kick butt character who has her flaws. She can take on any guy in a fight, which is just awesome, but she's also extremely caring. She's very real and her emotions are raw. I got so wrapped up in her relationships wi...more

Destiny's Fire is sizzling H-O-T!!

After reading Unveiled by Trisha Wolfe, I was so excited to read more of her work. She has an uncanny ability to draw in the reader and bring some major heat to the scenes.

Since this book isn't out until January, I am going to leave this spoiler free and tell you what you can expect out of this FANTASTIC book...

A kick arse protagonist with wit and spunk, some seriously delicious scenes that will leave you blushing, two major hotties who are night and day, a...more

Didn't really impress me...

What with the shape-shifting thing and setting the plot in future and the Egyptian past and love triangles, the book was a mess. I'm not sure what the purpose of the book was - dystopia or paranormal or mythological? If it was supposed to be all of them , major fail 'cause it's none of them...

If Wolfe had narrowed down and focussed on the story, the book could have rocked. I could sense awesome potential, but all I got after reading was just a bland after-taste, no ele...more

Destiny’s Fire proved to be one of my new favorite YA books. This story is a mixture of lore, shifters, steampunk, and romance, not to mention a lot of action and sparring. Wolfe has written the perfect amount of cogs and corsets. Rather than overloading the readers with letting them know this is steampunk by exclaiming it in every sentence, she weaves in the necessary gadgets and gears to set the stage.

Dez is a shifter. On her seventeenth birthday she’ll “change”, meaning she’ll shift for the f...more

It's taken me far too long to post a review of this one, but the story has stuck with me, so I must give it my 5 stars! The pacing of Destiny's Fire is perfect - clues about Dez's history and true nature are doled out in such a way that you're always learning something new and yet you're kept guessing enough to remain intrigued throughout. And Trisha Wolf is excellent at throwing in a curve just when you think you have it all figured out.

I enjoyed Dez as a main character. Her struggle to deal wi...more

I'd like to thank the author for giving me a copy of this book, in exchange for my honest review.

After reading Astarte's Wrath, the prequel to this series, I was really excited to start the actual series. I couldn't wait to see where it went from there, and I think that this was a nice start to the series. I liked the world in which this book was set. There was a steampunk aspect to it that I loved, and I thought that this was woven in with the supernatural elements to make a uniquely interes...more
