I had a mix feeling about the first book and I was therefore anxious to start this one. I was afraid to have the same problems I had before once again… But what a surprise, this second novel is amazing. I had a mix feeling about the first book and I was therefore anxious to start this one. I was afraid to have the same problems I had before once again… But what a surprise, this second novel is amazing. No, no more fights against demons, it’s this time more against zombies, lycans, fallen angels and so many other things.

Shiloh has to face Trent, her ex-boyfriend as they’re having a break but more than that she discovers some corpses of persons killed by a wild animal. Our heroine is very determined to discover the last word of the story and she won’t be alone in this adventure. Indeed, I was very surprised by this disparate assembly, but it was a real pleasure.

But there is more, Shiloh has to deal with the death of her father, himself murdered and she is determined to avenge him and to kill the person or the creature responsible for all this. But this story will lead her more farther than she would have thought. She, however, has to control her demon’s blood to not be controlled, and it’s really not an easy task.

I’m still intrigued by Jillian, the mother of our heroine. She can have some tender moments with her daughter as she tried to reach her but most of the time she is the evil bitch we knew. I wonder what she wants to do, what their motives are now and what is her relation with the father of Trent. What about Trent? Ah this boy has a lot of surprises for us and we learn them all along the book, I didn’t expect that and in the same time it’s logic as well. I can’t wait to assist to the confrontations about all the things we learned.

We meet many new characters, everyone is interesting and I hope we will meet them soon in another novel to get to know them more, mainly the Shiloh’s best friend. I have to say that finally all the persons in this small town have something special, and we just need to learn what it is now.

We have a great rhythm here and we never get bored, it allows us to learn the responsibilities that our heroine needs to deal with, everyday. A really good second book and I can’t wait to get into the third one to know what Sherry Soule will have for us.(less)

Celeste’s review: I was so excited to start this as soon as I finished the first book, Beautifully Broken. Shiloh Ravenwolf has always known she is a witch. In fact, she comes from a long line of witches and is the 13th daughter, which means she is there to fulfill a prophecy. Her duty is to protect the innocents from all the paranormal activity going on in the town of Whispering Pines, since there is an entrance to Sheol there. In this installment of the series Shiloh now understands her ability more as a witch/demon hunter and is able to work on fine tuning her skills. While the first book dealt with ghosts and demons, this book deals with more supernatural demon beings…..lycans, zombies and oh, so much more!

But the supernatural beings aren’t the only demons in Whispering Pines she is fighting. Shiloh also has to deal with the demon blood within her, the poison that tries to take control over her white magick. Luckily she has Trent’s uncle, Evans, as her mentor. Not only as her mentor, but as a friend too. After the tragic murder she needs all the support she can get. And then there’s her boyfriend….he now seems to have something going on too that definitely has a demon vibe. I have to say, I really like how it all played out. I wasn’t sure exactly what Trent knew or if he was hiding something, or he was truly unaware.

Which now brings me to Trent. Le sigh. I spent the first quarter of the book blowing through the pages saying where is Trent!?! But he finally got back into the picture. Phew. Shiloh has Evans to help train with magick, and now Trent to train with combat fighting. Let’s just say I love the training. Rawr. *looks to author with puppy eyes for a deleted sweaty romantic scene from that???*. Once Trent and Shiloh accepted their feelings they make an outstanding couple and demon fighting team-I loved them!

While I really enjoyed the book there were still a few items I struggled with:

How could Shiloh forgive or even stand to be in the same room as her mother? Maybe she honestly had no choice so she just made peace with it?
The romance. While it was very believable I needed more sizzle because as I said in first review Trent = pure sex. What happened to the bad boy that wants to score? Maybe he just matured because of the tragic events?
The ending had too many loose ends. Nothing really felt wrapped up except for the alpha being stopped. Maybe. However, there’s a 3rd book so maybe I will get more answers there.
There started to be too many paranormal beings. I enjoyed just focusing on the lycans. The zombies, necromancers and Raze seemed unneccesary. Maybe I just need more answers. There is still a lot of potential. If the 3rd book focuses on Raze I think it will work, otherwise his character didn’t have any value in this book.

Will I read the next one? Absolutely positively! I need to find out what happens. Ms. Soule has a fabulous way of story telling and I can’t wait to see how she ties it all up. The 3rd book in this Spellbound series, Destiny Disrupted, is due out in September 2012.(less)

Shiloh’s scar tingles and burns, which lets her know that whatever happened definitely involves something supernatural. When she starts to head to the Ravenhearst Manor with her best friend, Ariana, a big beast is in the road and they barely miss it.

The attacks increase, but seem to only target the football team. The local policeman claim that its rabid dogs, but her mentor Evans think it’s lycans that are attacking the team. When Shiloh becomes witness to an attack, she became high up on the supernatural hit list.
With all of these going on, Trent starts to become closer to Shiloh. When he becomes angry, his eyes turn black and this frightens Shiloh. She has been tainted with demon’s blood, and she thinks Trent has too.

Shiloh has many things to worry about, and has a guy with piercing eyes following her at odd times. She’ll have to team with the most unlikely people to help the town that she is prophesized to help
Lives will be lost for this cause. Will Shiloh solve the mystery behind all the attacks before it’s too late?

I liked this one more than the first book. I love all of the different paranormal creatures that are brought into this book, which makes this series have a slight Buffy-esque vibe to it. I had suspicions of what was happening. I was right on some things but not everything. I’m definitely interested to see what the new guys will play in the next book.

I definitely enjoyed Trent a lot more in this book than the others. I wished that Jillian, Shiloh’s mom, was more in the book. I don’t like her, but I want there to be some kind of closure with Shiloh even if it’s not good. There are so many things I’m still wondering about, but I love that the main aspects of the book are resolved before the next book starts. The ending isn’t too much of a cliffhanger, but I’m definitely intrigued to find out what happens next.

Moonlight Mayhem is the second book in the Spellbound series by Sherry Soule. Whereas the first book concentrated on ghosts and demons, this one was more about werewolves. I absolutely loved the first book in the series, but I didn't connect with this one as much.

Having really enjoyed Beautifully Broken, Book I in Sherry Soule’s Spellbound Series, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read Book II as well. It started out rough for Shiloh, nothing new, and boy, once again, I loved the way she handled herself. Beneath the Moon and Stars review

I didn't like this as much as I liked the first. It had a very unique storyline. The storyline was probably my favorite part. I think I loved the first book way too much so I had too high expectations. It wasn't bad at all, in fact I enjoyed it a lot. I just didn't like it as much as the first.

Werewolves. Zombies. Witches. Oh my!

This sequel packs a punch, that’s for sure! Soule holds nothing back as she thrusts readers back into Shiloh’s world, one full of even more mysteries than the first.

The title is quite revealing in the basic premise, werewolves. Except they aren’t.

A good sequel to Spellbound. I liked that we were introduced to new characters while expanding on the characters we already know. There's more to see of our favorites: Shiloh, Trent, Ari, Evans. And there's new/newer characters who may or may not have dark secrets of their own.

There's a lot going on in this book. I can say this, because it doesn't give away anything that isn't in the blurb: There's a pack of wolves, a zombie, Shiloh and her mother are witches. Shiloh's father is killed, and the only person who's seen the wolves and hasn't been killed or turned is Shiloh. Oh, and add in fallen angels and Fae.

I'm a fan of Sherry Soule because of how captivating her story lines are.

She has these immense ideas that, if put successfully onto paper, will steal the reader's attention for hours. The difference between Moonlight Mayhem and Beautifully Broken is extreme.

Wow! Now things are really getting exciting (and maybe a little terrifying) around Whispering Pines! I liked this book even better than the first one! Now that Shiloh has discovered her roots and began fighting against evil, the whole town seems to be teeming with dangerous and intriguing new creatures. I admit, I was a little worried after that ending in Beautifully Broken, but there is still plenty of adventure and romance for Shiloh. Moonlight Mayhem by Sherry Soule is the second book in the Spellbound series and was kindly provided to me by the author in exchange for my honest review.

What can I say? I knew before I started this book that it would be great!
Before I started I was curious of the book title but now I definitively know. It really is a mayhem going on. You get new weird things happening and new characters that we are introduced to.
As the plot says Shiloh meets new allies and the people she allies with are soo unexpected! But I love it!
I must say that I at first thought that Sherry put to many different supernatural creatures in one book but as it progressed I ende...more

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Beautifully Broken, so I was looking forward to reading the second. However now that I have finished I'm hesitant to read the third.

There was so much going on at once, Mayhem was 100% right. There were Werefolfes, Fallen Angels, Demons, Fea, Witches. And i was having trouble connecting to Shiloh's feelings.

I will read the third book hoping it will tie it all together and be as good as the first but I may leave it a little while.
