Like most writers I know, I collect baby name books, and this is a worthy addition to my library. The author doesn't use the "it sound sort of like X, so it must mean the same thing" approach that make some books painful to read (I still remember one that defined "Gamaliel" as "Camel of God"). If she doesn't know where a name came from, she says so. I found a good name for a character I need to add to my next story, as well as some fairly obscure names from my genealogical research. Ignore the "...more
This book had a few good suggestions to consider at the beginning, but nothing I hadn't thought of already. I didn't gain any new name ideas from this book, but I do think the ideas at the beginning were worthwhile for those who haven't considered first and last name sounds together, and other tricks like that.

I wasn't a fan of the name grouping either.

Recommends it for: Expecting parents
It gives insight into naming but I think every parent knows what names they like and so any name book will do.
Somewhat interesting but I enjoyed a different baby name book better.
