Captive Star (Stars of Mithra #2)
by
Nora Roberts
It should have been a piece of cake. All he had to do was pick up some pretty little bail jumper who wasn't even bothering to hide. But cynical bounty hunter Jack Dakota soon discovered there was nothing easy about spitfire M.J. O'Leary--or about this case.
Someone had set them both up. Now they were handcuffed together and on the run from a pair of hired killers. And M.J....more

I wasn't sure I would like this book because I wasn't a fan of the hero at first, Jack is rude, crude bounty-hunter but he was perfectly suited to a totally non-traditional MJ.
MJ has grown up in bars since her family runs one, and she too owns one and tends bar there, she is modern and tough as nails so when Jack comes to pick her up on some bounty claims she fights back and then both of them run into someone trying to kill her.
Jack doesn't know what went wrong but he was given false information...more

Captive Star is the second in the Stars of Mithra trilogy that I’m re-visiting as books from my past that I enjoyed.
Jack Dakota is a bounty hunter. When he’s given the file for an M.J. O’Leary he thinks it’ll be an easy pick up. M.J, an attractive redhead female, is wanted for skipping bail after shooting her supposed lover. Jack stakes out her apartment and spots her easily – he’s actually surprised by how little effort she is making to stay hidden, given that there’s a warrant out for her and...more

This was a great read. Continuing after the Hidden star, you really wanted to know what was next.
Jack Dakota was to pick up a pretty bail jumper, who was'nt even bothering to hidebut MJ did not even know she was trying to be found. She knew something was going on, when her friend Bailey James sent her a blue diamond, and told her to keep it safe.
MJ friends Bailey and Grace were out of contact and she had no clue what was going on.

The writing in the second book of the series is definitely as smooth as I have grown to expect from Ms. Roberts. Other than one jolt, the pace was fast and even. The jolt came because at the end of the first book, the first stone had been returned to the Smithsonian but in this book, they put both stones together when Bailey and MJ are reunited. What happened to the Smithsonian? Other than that, I really like the characters in this book. I can identify with aspects of both and I absolutely loved...more
Jack Dakota and M.J. Leary; what a combination. I'd read this book several years ago, and it made me laugh. Jack was a jerk and an ass but he quickly grew on me even though he repeatedly called her 'sugar' throughout. M.J. was a spitfire which I loved. Any book that can make me laugh, is a pleasure. This is the second in the series "Stars of Mithra" but can be read on its own merits. The other two books were not as good but do tell more of the complete story about the stars in question.

This was just as good as the first one, but I really like the spunk that MJ has. While the sexy yet studious bounty hunter is pretty spunky too, I must say that he is insane. Well, the both are and I love the characters for it. They fall in love way too quickly for me, but that seems to be a requirement for the series, so it's not really surprising that that happened. I can't wait for the next one to see how Grace is found now that MJ and Bailey are together! :)
Well, the fact that this is #2 in the series when I thought it was the first may have contributed to the low rating. But this was clearly part of a series ... it was like reading a third of a novel. None of the plot lines were resolved in any significant way, and I was left scratching my head. Trying to figure out now if the story line and the characters are compelling enough to go find the rest of the series, but right now it doesn't look good.
I tend to enjoy a lot of Nora Roberts' books but I can be picky with her too. This book is definitely going down as one of my favorites. Loved the crazy but fitting journey to love with Jack and M.J. Also loved the in depth look at M.J. that fit in so smoothly you didn't realize how much you really knew her until you knew her. Definitely enjoyed it enough to hunt down the rest of the series.
When bounty hunter Jack Dakota gets beautiful M.J. O'Leary as his next bail skip assignment little does he know he'll get involved in a gem heist plot involving three flawless blue diamonds. He'll also meet his match in the tall, spunky bartender.
This is the second book in The Stars of Mithra Trilogy. A good, contemporary romance--may be a little too sexy to give to your mom??

I loved the Stars of Mirthra series by Nora Roberts. It's her standard formula, girl meets guy. Instant attraction. Problems ensure. They fall in love. But the underlining problem is entertaining and energetic.
This particular book, the hereon is fiesty and full of trouble. The interaction between the characters had me giggling at times. A good read to be sure.

I thought it was fast paced and was a great read. The characters were original and believable. Now I should read the first book in this trilogy and the third. LOL
