This book on the rosary came out shortly after Pope John Paul II announced the addition of the luminous mysteries, and I think it remains a good book for beginners.

The first part of the book gives an easy-to-read summary of the origin and development of this devotion, answers to common objections in reader-friendly Q & A format, and a few (pretty obvious) suggestions on how to remain focused during this long prayer.

The New Rosary in Scripture was a great book for helping enhance this beautiful devotion in my life. I recommend reading this book in small increments and then employing the techniques recommended by Dr. Sri. Also helpful, are the reflections from scripture on the life of Jesus and His Mother.
