I liked this sequel a lot better than the first one. I still didn't find myself rooting for any one girl in particular, but they did seem to grow up a bit between books.

The ending actually surprised me - in a good way! I was definitely expecting it to be a lot more "chick-lit predictable".

(view spoiler)[I was shocked that Natalya told Colin they were through, it made me so proud of her! It seems like girls never stand up for themselves in chick-lit, and I was actually expecting her to just wait...more

Cover:

The cover was what caught my eye, strolling down my local libraries aisles! Before then, I haven't even heard of The Darlings, nor of the author Melissa Kantor; but thank the skies above I did! This cover is perfect for the summer!

My Thoughts:

Summer's coming up fast, and readers are looking for fun and light books to read outside in the sun or at the beach! Well look no further, this book fits the description perfectly! The Darlings in Love, doesn't actually take place in the summer, but t...more

At the moment I'm in the process of reading this. So as a forewarning- I havent finished it and my opinion of it might change if/when i do.
To be honest...I really don't know why i picked up this book. Not that it's bad, but it's not normally the type of books i read. But don't be fooled, I defineley have read my fair share of chick flicks. I would have to say the reason i even checked it out is the backcover. It says nothing more than the three couples; Jack and Victoria, Colin and Natalya, and,...more

In The Darlings Are Forever, Jane, Victoria and Natalya, who have been friends for years, were separated at school for the first time when they each went to different high schools.

The Darlings in Love by Melissa Kantor continues the saga of their freshman year, this time looking at how each girl approaches being in a relationship with a boy. Jane is headstrong and confident, and she pursues Simon even though he gives off mixed signals about what he really wants. Natalya is a bit more reserved, a...more

Victoria, Natalya, and Jane have successfully survived their first semester of high school at separate schools, and now they feel that the Darlings can handle anything—even and especially love. Even though Jane has sworn off love, things are going great for Victoria and looking up for Natalya. Victoria knows that she and her boyfriend Jack are just perfect together, and every moment that they spend together makes her positively glow. And Natalya’s crush Colin might just be dropping hints that he...more

In this second installment of The Darlings are Forever series, Natalya, Victoria, and Jane are settling into their new high schools while maintaining their close friendship and trying to survive bumps in their love lives. Natalya is still crushing on Colin who has refused to speak to her, even though she's apologized, until they see each other at the park and start communicating again. But things are more complicated than the che...more

I read this as a preview for a middle school girls book club. I was hoping to find mature enough subject matter along with detailed and descriptive writing to keep the girls interested. I found all of that here. Kantor does a wonderful job of pulling you into the lives of the three 'Darlings' as they now navigate high school.

Each girl has a story to tell about love, relationships, and especially friendships. Kantor examines relationships from 3 different angles as each girl encounters something...more

I don't usually read, but when I do I try to pick really good books that I could get excited about reading. I was actually dissapointed. I got kind of bored with it, I was waiting for the big moment to happen, that big "ah-ha" moment, the climax. I was just waiting for it to get better, it did at some point but it got boring again. I really didn't like the ending, the 3 main characters end up alone and broken hearted, what kind of ending is that when the title of the book is "The Darlings in Lov...more

This story was about as cute as they come. It follows three girls: Victoria, Jane, and Natalya as they experience their first loves and their first heartbreaks. They are three best friends who call themselves ‘The Darlings’ and have remained best friends even though they are not attending different schools. Each of the girls has developed her own little crush and the three boys could not be more different from each other. The chapters alternate between the three girls including each one’s perspe...more

I didn't like the characters. they felt really immature and unbelievable to me. did these girls live in a bubble or something? I could predict everything that happened, but what bothered me most was that I didn't believe any of it. the story didn't feel realistic.

it wasn't that bad tho. I did enjoy some parts (like the writing) but I wish the story would be more original and have less clichéd storylines and HEAs. I'm probably not the right audience for this story (is it MG?) and I'm not in the...more

I love how Melissa Kantor made 3 relationships and made them have their ups and downs. For me, I'm kinda a romance lover for books and I choose this because THE WORD LOVE!!!!!!! My favorite couple was Jack and Victoria, he always made her go with him to stuff, but when she asked him to go with her in this museum, he rejected her because he had to go to his friend's birthday party. Jane and Simon, they were complicated, it turns out Simon is kind-of gay, but at the end,he wasn't. And last but not...more

I enjoyed this book a fair amount and was somewhat curious to see how it turned out. Although the story was somewhat predictable it was fun to read and I was at least a little curious about exactly how the ending would play out. My other complaint is that while I like the characters to a certain point, they felt a little cliche as well as immature. I'm only two years older than the three girls but I wouldn't have made most of the decisions they did in their circumstances. So, on that end, it was...more

I don't like the girls in these books. They are just so immature and I know they are young. But goodness. And Natalya... Her and Colin were so cute. But the author oh so happened to add him having a girlfriend.. whatever. And she happens to be her friend? That was such obvious writing. And apdoiaspdisoadi.

I like Jane. I didn't like her in the other book at times. But I want her with Mark.. and more written about her.

I could listen to less about Victoria. She annoys me the most.

Just everyone an...more

A fun and frothy contemporary read!

The Darlings in Love is the follow-up to the charming and fun The Darlings Are Forever. Natalya, Victoria and Jane are all back for more adventures; but this time around, their adventures revolve around relationship and boy problems. The three girls- who I must say, do seem more mature than 14!- live in New York, which provides an entertaining and lively backdrop to their lives beyond school.

As you can read from the book description, each of the girls comes acr...more

What a fun book this turned out to be.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the first book in this series but that didn't stop me from enjoying the book anyway. Kantor does a fabulous job of writing this story so that it seems like a standalone, even though it isn't. In this book, we're front and center as Jane, Victoria and Natalya go through obstacles surrounding the boys in their lives. Jane meets a new boy named Simon who sweeps her off her feet and seems to be too good to be true. Victoria and Jack ar...more

Let me first start with saying the story was OK for me, and I highly suggest this book for the young teens. Maybe part of the reason I didn’t like the book for me was it’s very much shallow for me. It really didn’t hold my interest, and for that I’m sorry. But I have to say the prose was okay, and the characters were okay. But that’s the problem, it was just OKAY. I didn’t expect much from this though, so that was probably good because I’ll just be more down if that were the case.

I’ll just run d...more

Awwww this was such a sweet book! So light and fluffy and as wholesome as a book about happy well-adjusted fourteen year olds should be! I loved it! My favourite thing about this book was that the characters are so incredibly REAL. I got quite emotional at parts because I felt so personally invested in the girls and their feelings, which is honestly the mark of a truly good book.

If you've read the first book and want something fun and heartwarming to read, it doesn't get any more perfect than t...more

I loved how they all had love! I'm a hopeless romantic myself...
My favorite twist was when Simon realized that he was gay-I felt insanely bad for Jane, but it made the story great.

My favorite of the three girls is Natalya. She and Collin are perfect for each other! It had a poop ending when she turned him down so I was insanely bummed about that.

This book is perfect for hopeless romantics like me-be prepared! You might get watery eyes!

The darlings i love was a very interesting book to read. it talks about three friends who end up falling in love with a very special boy to them. Some of them get heart broken and some of them are lucky because they found the one. whatever they are going through they have each other and there friendship to help them deal with the heart breaks and drama. so , if you enjoy drama and adventure this is the book for you.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this book and was pleasantly surprised to find that this story was really cute. While it is definitely YA, the three friends all being in high school still and all the teenage angst that goes with it, it was a fun read. I loved the bond between The Darlings. Their friendship was so real and down to Earth. I could completely relate to them and honestly, wanted to be a part of their inner circle, they were just that great.

Each of the Darlings try to navigate relationships with the opposite sex in this novel. Each brings their own individual take on relationships. I liked all three girls, which was suprising because I thought at least one of them I would not be to my liking. But that was so not the case.

Jane had the misfortune of falling for the wrong guy not once but twice. Who can't relate to that, right? Natayla seemed to be finding love once again after letting it slip through her fingers before. Victoria, the...more

At first I would get distracted and couldn't find myself to read the book but then when I tried once more it swept me off my feet.

The Girls:
Jane:Strong and Determined
Natalya:Joyful and Full of life
Victoria:Sweetest but easy-going

The Boys:
Simone:Super hot and make you feel complete
Colin:Shy and quiet but It'll change in quickie
Jack:The songwriter with a lot of HEART.

This book is about 3 best friends. Each friend has fallen in love, which currently are having problems with each other.

The book is very interesting. To tell the truth I just plucked it off the shelf immediately with no clue on what it's about. Turns out I really enjoyed it.

This book was just delightful! When I first picked it up, I was pleased to see that it was just as easy to "get into the book" as the first story. Jane, Natalya, and Victoria three best friends who are absolutely connected at the hip. Is a perfect book for any girl wanting a little drama, romance, and comedy! Just great!

Three girls in love with three boys. Will these relationships result in six happy endings or six broken hearts? Whatever the case the darlings will stick together, because they are forever.

This book was a quick light read. I feel what made the book really good was the friendship the three darlings shared for each other. Without a doubt this book will make you wish you were a darling.

The Darlings in Love flawlessly continues the Darlings' first adventures of high school, but now there's even more boy drama! Jane, out of all the girls, really came into her own in this one and I found that she was really easy to relate to. (And as for her boy dilemma, I just wanted to tell her it's okay, I've been there!) All of the Darlings make mistakes, but they all end up learning from them in a way that isn't too adolescent.

I couldn't finish this. The girls were SOO immature I wanted to puke everywhere. I just skimmed through to the end only keeping up with Colin's story. Which it did not end the way I had hoped. This book was dumb, I only recommend it to girls in middle school. Goodbye.

OMG! The darlings are amazing!
I totally wish I was one!
Good theater language and some chess and music!
Above all, brilliant combination of 3 different fields with 3 different girls and guys!

Follow up to The Darlings, a set of three girls who are now having trouble in love. Cute book. Quick read, realistic characters and situations.
