A guy starts dressing up like Edward Cullen to attract a girl who’s a massive Twilight fan. Trouble is he gets it wrong and it kind of goes to his head, with disastrous consequences.

Becoming Edward is set in the UK and is a light-hearted, fun novel about what happens when obsession goes too far. Perfect for both Twilight and non-Twilight fans.

Very sassy, smart writing. What a great idea for a book. It's original and funny with some bittersweet and laugh-out-loud moments. The characters are very well portrayed (I love Cassie! I think we share the same hair!).

I'm pretty sure both teens and adults are going to love this delightful novel.

I was looking for the cover of Rachel's Twilight book coz I was relly curious. :)

She described it as "a super-rare first edition.... A haunted looking Bella Swan stared out of the cover. She had deep melancholy eyes, a sharp black bob and one of those faces that followed you around the room. She looked terrified. A modern-day Mona Lisa minus the smile."

oh. Look. here it is: :)

Becoming Edward is a sweet story about a girl in search of “her Edward”. Anyone who enjoyed the Twilight Saga can probably relate to this sentiment. Finding traits and qualities in a guy that resembles Edward and his devoted, romantic, and mysterious ways.

In the book Rachael’s heart is desired by both Clive and Lewis, but when one of them plans to “become Edward”, getting lost in the idea of winning Rachael’s love through fantasy, things really begin to get interesting.

As a fellow break out auth...more

This is one of the worst books that I've ever read! I thought that it was going to be fun and quirky, but it was poorly writen with a predictable plot and shallow, boring characters.

Looking back on it, I don't know why I thought a book that is dedicated to worshiping Twilight would be good.

The most ridiculous part of the whole novel was the fact that a steady, level header man, who also is a bit of man whore,(Lewis) would be interested in a book like Twilight and get obsessed with it. Towards t...more

Rachel is in love with Edward Cullen. Really, who wouldn't be? It's not like she's writing "Mrs. Edward Cullen" in her notebooks, or plotting horrible deaths for Bella Swan. It's just that Edward is so...well, "perfect" is the only thing that comes to mind. Real boys just can't measure up. Clive's been interested forever, but she just doesn't see him. Lewis would change his player ways for her, but she can't see past them. Only Edward will do, and that's just who Lewis intends to be. New hair,...more

I read a lot of Young Adult books and am often not conscious of them being aimed at that target audience. However, I was very much aware that this book was aimed at older teenagers.

That said, it made for an amusing , light read.

Rachel is a young girl, living on a rough estate with an impoverished single Mother. We don't learn anything else about her Mother, or the estate that she lives on (I presume that it was only mentioned to show that she didn't have much money).
She is totally obsessed with...more

A friend on goodreads sent me this recommendation. I'm indebted to her. I went to amazon.com and read a sample. I was hooked. I had to get this book but it was only available in Kindle format. I don't own a Kindle. I know, I know, it's hard to believe. Someone like me who loves to read doesn't own the latest and greatest reading tool. Call me old fashioned but I love to hold a book in my hand. This book wasn't out in paperback so I googled the title and author. Low and behold, it was available o...more

It wasn't the first time that Ihad read this book. Actually, the first time I read this book was on last year. I think it was on September. My first impression on the story was hilarious. It was a fun read, not boring. Faye Meredith never failed to depict on her story what it was like to be a Twilight fanatic, especially the magical feeling whenever reading Stephenie's book.

Becoming Edward was a very cute and uplifting story from start to finish. The romance between the two main characters (Lewi...more

More like 2.5 stars. The setting was interesting and the writing fluid, I just didnt particularly like the characters.. except maybe Olivia ;-))

Meet Rachael, a twihard who has sworn of dating high school boys until she finds her very own Edward. She's described to be beautiful, deep and smart by her friend Clive, who has been crushing on her for ages- looking on ways to be her boyfriend rather than a boy thats a friend. Lewis comes into the picture, he is hot, rich and looks like a he popped out...more

The reader gets to know Rachel’s background before we meet best friend Cassie. Cassie talks Rachel into going to Bournemouth town centre on the premise that she will buy her another copy of Twilight.

While they are on the bus, the story moves to Lewis. The reader is immediately aware of his easy lifestyle and the lack of respect he shows for the females in his life. Forgetting to buy a birthday gift for his sister Olivia, he rushes off to Bournemouth town centre. The shops are closing at the end...more

I loved this book. It was silly in a lot of ways, in a good way, but that's what I expected. I laughed out loud a couple times and really enjoyed it. I also liked that it was honest about how teens feel about themselves and the world around them. Sometimes you feel on top of that world and then, the next minute, you're flat on the ground. Simple things can take over your life and then, once you realize that you were being an idiot, you worry what everyone thinks of you. It never ends. LOL!!

What I wanted from this book was a laugh and a laugh is what I got. The story opens well with Rachel, a Twi-hard, desperately wrestling a limited edition, signed copy of Twilight from her dog’s drooling bite. I really enjoyed Rachel’s character. She is sweet and funny and is struggeling to find a real-life guy who is good enough to be her Edward. I think we all went through that when we finished Twilight! It was also so refreshing to have a protagonist who is beautiful and has guys falling at he...more

The first half I really loved the book. I was one of those people who were obsessed with Twilight! One of those women asking her husband why can't you be more like Edward Cullen and please just read the book, promise you will like it. This was back in 2008 in Sept. when I first read Twilight (also my first book for pleasure).

The second half started to get a bit silly for my taste. The guy got a bit mental about 'being Edward'. It got so bad I don't think I really got to see...more

This was one of those random Kindle purchases that I make every once in a while when I come upon an ebook that simply intrigues me. I mean, come on, a book about a guy that decides to become Edward Cullen to win the girl? For the female Twilight fans, that is a MUST read if for no other reason than to find out how it goes! Plus, at a price like $2.99, it's simply too hard to resist.

I adore this book. Not only was the premise amusing and just too cute for words, but the characters were seemingly...more

This book almost does not deserve 3 stars. It is written by an English author and is set in England, so some of the slang may be strange. There was too much swearing. Although, it came in batches. I thought the idea behind the book is cute. It is about a guy who falls for a girl who is a twilight fanatic and to impress her he tries to look and act like Edward Cullen. However, this idea backfires and causes lots of trouble. The plot was not as well developed as it could be and was way too predict...more

Cover: 4 stars. I really liked how it is so simple but catches your attention anyway. And how the Title and Author really stand out. Excellent.

Okay. This was a good book. I wouldn't say 'OMG! READ THIS' But i wouldn't say not to read it. In fact i am just about to borrow this book to my sister and cousin after telling them what it's about. Okay, one other thing you should know about my sister and cousin is that; They. Don't. Read....more

On one of the days that I was on Twitter there was a tweet to get “Becoming Edward” by Faye Meredith for free on that day on Amazon. Intrigue by the title and reading the summary of the story I could not resist and ended up setting up the Kindle app on my devices and downloaded this freebie.

Days later after purchase (and after I had finished reading The 2nd book from the Hunger Games Trilogy, “Catching Fire”) I needed a quick break from that roller coaster ride and started to read this book. I h...more

Fluttering Thoughts:

World Building: Contemporary, post-Twilight UK, lol.
Characters: They were fun and they made sense up to about half the book, I think. From a point on they just became too much, especially Lewis. Rachel, Cassie and Clive made enough sense to me through and through, and so did Lewis's sister, but he was just ridiculous from a point on.
Plot: Funny and lighthearted up to a point, but then Lewis starts acting very out there and it just got unrealistic (not in the magical realism o...more

I really, really despise all things Stephenie Meyer but I can respect other people's tastes in literature. I was in the mood for something cute, light and sweet and the premise of this story intrigued me, to be honest. So far it's off to a promising beginning. Okay, so there were annoying bits where it seemed like the author was doing nothing mindlessly praising and gushing fangirlishly about Twilight through the characters and doing little push the plot forward but near the second half and endi...more

I am a huge Twilight fan so I suppose many of the positive reviews for this book convinced me that it was a MUST read.. unfortunately I did not like this book: it started off well, I thought it was well written and the dialogues didn't have the usual American teenage slang, but then it just got silly, a little boring and not in the least convincing (ok, many a guy might try to look like Robert Pattinson, but climbing trees?! that is insanity - and not curable just by talking someone out of it..)...more

I was pleasantly surprised by this. I thought it would be all moody teenager thinks he's Edward Cullen smarming his way around moody Twilight girl. It's much better than that. It certainly has us guys pegged - we do ridiculous things to get girls and when they don't work it makes us go a bit crazy. It's original, funny (at the expense of the characters, not Twilight) and I totally related to the two boys - one over-thinks everything and the other completely misses the point of why girls are attr...more

Oh, wow, this book sounds so funny! I'm both a Twilight fan and not, if that makes any sense (I had a crazy obsession with it once and it has died, but I'm still a semi-fan), but either way I look at it, this is one book, I SO want to read. It sounds like a total laugh-aloud.

While I liked the idea of this book, I wasn't a huge fan of the story itself. I found myself getting bored and skipping over things, only to come back to it later to make sure I didn't miss a huge chunk of the book... I didn't miss anything. It just wasn't very exciting to me. I think this book was written for a different audience ~ not 26 year old Twilight fans.

Umm..SERIOUSLY!!!
What the hell was going on in the author's mind when she wrote this?!?!?!? Worst book that I have ever read. When i read the summary, i found it to be different and interesting.'a book about another book', that's what went through my mind, and i though to give it a try. But I should've known better. The plot is really weird and stupid, the characters predictable and wacko even for twilight obsessed teen fans. I was hoping the book would pick up at some point or get interesting,...more

seems interesting but I'm pretty sure the author can get in trouble for using twilight in the book, and I'm sure the publisher of twilight didn't okay this. to write a book about another book you have to have permission, I should know this, I've tried lol

2.5 stars The concept was good, but the delivery fell short. I liked the first half. Then it just felt like a mess. I expected it to be more humorous. Now that I feel I just indulged in massive amounts of junk food, I must go read something with substance.

I think thousands and thousands of Twilight fans enjoyed this. Me? Not so much. No interesting dialogue, the relationship between Olivia and the main character was more interesting than the two main characters. For fanfic it's okay.
Victoria
Sorry to disagree with the other reviewers but in my opinion, this reads like an assignment for a creative writing class. The similes seemed forced and interrupted the flow. Okay book for a quick read but definitely not a great classic.
