Marla Mason, chief sorcerer of the coastal city of Felport, is called to the Blackwing Institute, a hospital for criminally insane magic-users. One of the patients tells her the world is going to end soon, when a great eldritch god rises from the ocean. Sure, there's a good chance the god is entirely imaginary... but that doesn't mean its cultists won't kill a lot of peopl ...more

This short Marla Mason gem is set between Blood Engines and Poison Sleep. It features the sorcerer madhouse Blackwing Institute and the mysterious female doctor who runs it.

One of the patients wants to speak with Marla to warn her about the rise of an old god from the ocean he already tried to raise a century ago. Along the way she finds out a valuable thing or two, and hatches a brilliant plan to save her beloved Felport.

This was another great story! No one makes the end of the world quite as m
I picked up this short story for the Kindle. A good short story set in the world of Marla Mason.
