Changeling Dream was a good read. I did like the storyline and the way the hero and heroine meets. I just wished they would have worked tighter instead of apart for the biggest part of the book. I liked Jillian’s character and the way she loved animals. She does get very dramatic on James when he would try to help out. I felt the romance was not priority in the story, so this is why my rating is lower. You get the same as in the first book, good sexual tension and a couple of sex scenes.

man and I thought the first one was good......This one was even BETTER!!!!!!! Emotions were flyin, tears about to break out and frying pans in hand to smack someone with....These books kinda remind me of Dark-Hunters/BDB/Argeneau so far but not quiet as dark as the DH and BDB!!
Dani you are doing an awesome job with this series Keep it up!!!!!!

Oh my goodness it was a literary treat to read Changeling Dream, a werewolf romance, by Dani Harper. Dani Harper has been added to my favorite authors list!

The characters, Jillian and James, had both been through terrible ordeals that made each of them struggle with who they were and how they would later respond to one another. This is the first paranormal book I’ve read where learning to love one another was more important than getting revenge. However, the bad guys who had done each main chara...more

...Oh God, I thought the first book was good, this was much much better!!!

I loved that the book continued from the first one but this one being about the huge white wolf, James, the brother of Connor.

James had a sad story, a heartbreaking background and yet during this, his wolf connected with Jillian. Needless to say, Changeling Dream is all about how James and Jillian come together and how the family work for this too.

I love the way Dani Harper smoothly writes her books, how they just flow fr...more

Well written story of a wolf shifter who lived as a wolf for 30 years after his wife was murdered. I liked it. It felt pretty different from most shifter stories out there. There wasn't a lot of posturing and badassness. There wasn't any fighting vampires or fae creatures which aspect I liked. The thing that kept it from getting more stars is that the hero and the heroine did not spend much time together. There was a lot of him staying away from her for her own good. Also the heroine eventually...more

In Changeling Dream, Dr. Jillian Descharme is a vet who dreams of working with wild animals ~ like the white wolf who'd saved her when she was a teenager. When she gets a call offering her a dream job in Northern Canada ~ and some of it with wild animals ~ she's floored, and skeptical. It's gotta be too good to be true. But when she arrives at the North Star Animal Clinic, it's really that great ~ a dream job. And while she's out walking the paths close by, she see a white wolf...HER white wolf?...more

After reading Changeling Moon, I was excited to see where this new world would go and who the next Macleod, James, would find as a mate. James is a heartbroken and very devoted man. But that devotion has cost him a large amount of years after his wife and unborn child passed away in a tragic accident he blamed himself for.

But when Jillian comes along, he finds it very hard to stay away from her. Soon he's coming around her more and more often. But she's a little spitfire and doesn't come around...more

I loved the first one in this series, but this has surpassed that one. I love Jillian. She’s gone through so much and she is still standing strong with the help of her white wolf that has rescued her in more ways than one.

Let me go over a couple of issues I had with the book. They are minor, but they bugged me some. James’ (justifiable) selfishness has truly hurt his family and I’m not sure he had really fixed this hurt by the end of the book. The...more

I love it when an author has a series that flows from one book to the next, but still moves forward with the story while introducing new characters. Dani Harper does just that in Changeling Dream.

In so many paranormal Romance novels the two main characters have no history together yet within the first few chapters they are slapped together and having sex for no reason. This is not the case in Changeling Dream. Jillian and James (main characters and love interest) separately have a past that only...more

With a clan of strikingly attractive werewolves, a touch of magic, and deeply emotional characters, Changeling Dream is a really good read. As Changeling Dream is book 2, I was familiar with the Changelings (werewolves) and their pack, so it was a bit easier to get into the main story line. This book focused on James Macleod, the older brother of Connor, and a werewolf who had lost everything that mattered to him. James h...more

So, this is the 2nd book I won from Bending the Spine (http://bendingthespine.blogspot.com/), and I must say that I LOVED this book! I've always had a facination with wolves, and Dani Harper does a wonderful job making me love wolves even more.
This book picks up several years after the first book. James lost his family 30 years ago, but still hasn't healed from the loss. He has stayed in wolf form for 30 years, and when he finally changes back, he has a hard time adjust (but then again who woul...more

The Macleod family thought they had lost a brother after a werewolf hater human had killed his wife and injured him. After that, James never came back to his human form. The wolf took over and it’s been decades since the human has been in control.

But when Connor decides that he needs help at his clinic and hires Jillian as a veterinary, James, human and wolf, are smitten.

Turns out, this is not the first time James ran into Jillian. He saved her life year...more

Oh James! Such a lost and tortured soul! Running from the past, head-on into a future he has never imagined! After losing his wife (and almost himself) to murder, James has forsaken his human self to run with the wolves. For decades, he has confined himself to a world of intellectual simplicity and a total lack of human emotion. So deeply immersed in the wild, it’s uncertain whether those of his family will ever see James in his human skin again.

Fresh out of college, all alone, broke and despera...more

Book 2 of Dani Harper’s Changeling series really holds its own. With the same excellent writing and realistic, snappy dialogue, Harper engages you and draws you into the world of the Macleod pack and life in the Canadian north. Jillian and James come together and the sparks fly right from the start. Jillian is a survivor with a true horror in her past. She's pushed herself beyond that, but the psyche is not easily healed. James has baggage lik...more

I loved Connor and Zoey's story but I loved James and Jillian's even more. Their story moved me, I actually had tears in my eyes several times. And that doesn't happen very often. But when it does, it's a sure sign of fantastic, moving story.
My heart broke when Jillian thought she might lose James, her raw emotions jumped right off the pages and slapped me.
I was very pleased that there was some interaction with the rest of the Macleod clan and Birkie, she's awesome and wise and a great friend to...more

Really like this book . James was such a sad character. He lost his wife and unborn child . James turned into his wolf and stayed that way for many many years. Being a wolf meant not dealing with the pain. James was so quite and reserved, then tender and sweet. It was kinda funny reading about how he was trying to be human again and trying to dress or eat.

Jillian had her own issues to deal with. I have to say that I get why she has an attitude and gets angry. Its like her armor. But she was irr...more

I am in love with this series! I could not put Changeling Dream by Dani Harper down. This book truly tugs on your emotions with tear-jerking, heartwarming, fearful and uplifting moments. Jillian is the type of character that will be in your mind for a long time to come. She's strong and you can't help but cheer her on.

Oh wow! i loved this book, just as good if not better than the first one! more serious and sad than the first b/c of James and Jillian's pasts. but they way their story finally comes together is great! you cant help but smile and tear up at the love they share for each other. great read! on to the next one!

This book was a First Reads win for me. Changeling Dream is the story of Jillian Descharme, a young vet who can't stop thinking about the white wolf who saved her life years before. Little does she know that the white wolf is a Changeling and is actually the handsome, mysterious James McLeod. James' wolfen side is drawn to Jillian and wants to protect her, but his human side resists his animal instincts, fearing that human contact will reopen the wounds of losing his first wife and unborn baby t...more

As you might have read, I enjoyed Changeling Moon quite a bit. I think I enjoyed Changeling Dream even more. I think I connected to the characters more and the emotional bits were spread throughout the book. It starts off with both James and Jillian having a horrible experience. James had the option to flee the world by completely surrendering himself to the wolf. Jillian, not having that option, decided to face her demons and come out with a new life for herself. Both still damaged, but yet fou...more

Sometimes I want to read a book just to read. With no obligation, timeline or commitments. After I finished Changeling Moon (review here), I could not wait to get started on Changeling Dream. But I was not necessarily going to review it. *gasp* I just wanted a leisurely read while on vacation. As most vacations we take go, I had no time to read. But I devoured this book once home.

So here I am giving a quick review of one of the best books I have read this year. Dani stepped up her game and wrote...more

Jillian Descharme has always found calm in her dream of a great white wolf possessing haunting blue eyes. Every stressful situation she has been in, this image has helped her out. When she finds the wolf of her imagination is real, she is shocked.

James McLeod has lost his wife and child 30 years ago to a killer bent on killing all the Changelings. He shed his humanity and became the wolf full time. When Jillian comes to town she awakens the man. When he finally changes back after such a long tim...more

First point for this book: you can read it isolated without feeling the need to know what happened in the previous book (although I'm much too curious about Connor's story).

When starting a new paranormal series, I'm always a bit alert. I don't like insta-romances, most alpha-males make me cringe and if the female characters aren't strong, the book rarely ever conquers me. Luckily for me "Changeling Dream" was a pleasant surprised and I loved eve...more

I received a free copy of Changeling Dreams as part of the Goodreads First Reads program.

What I liked: I really enjoyed James's inner struggle with his wolf. I thought it was very interesting that the two parts of his personality were often so separate and at odds with each other. I loved seeing James return to his humanity. I liked the connection Jillian had to the white wolf, how he saved her in the past, and the very positive effect it had on her life. Their shared history makes their relatio...more

This was a great read. It was nice it being the 2nd book and already knowing so much about the changeling life and could focus on the story.

I loved Jillian's connection to the wolf. Even when she just thought it was an animal, you could really feel her bond and understand where it was coming from. Even though she had a horrible past, she came out of it amazingly and didn't let it ruin her future. She mentions it and talks about it, but she doesn't dwell over it.

James having been a wolf for 30...more

I've been wanting to read this since I read the first in the series Changeling Moon, espeacially as it was about the brother that Connor had mentioned to Zoey who had suffered a horrible tragedy and taken to running as a wolf fulltime. I really loved James' story and his return to his human self. Jillian was an amazing character and leading lady as well. Hearing her story made me really feel for her. She went through a pretty big trauma herself and made it through thanks to James' though he didn...more

There isn't anything Dani Harper likes better than exploring the supernatural - unless it's writing sizzling and suspenseful romance and fantasy. Of course, all of her stories have at least one foot in the netherworld!
