Loved it and it kept me up late finishing it! This series is getting as good as her Rough Rider series. Loved all the characters especially Renner and Abe. Loved the two love stories for the price of one and I didn't feel cheated because they weaved together so well. The romance and connections between the two sets of lovers was so raw and real, angry at times, as well as, sugar sweet. Lorelei James's cowboys are my ideals!!, gallant and knightly; possessive and alpha; and oh so charming.

I loved that the two stories were opposite, Abe and Janie were exes that broke up for the right reasons 8 years earlier (not that hearts weren't broken at the time). They loved each other, but didn't fit together at that time in their lives- they both needed to grow up and go out on their own. Janie needed to find her professional side and experience the big world. Abe needed to realize the mold of his parent's life was not what would work for him and Janie. She broke his heart and left him and he was too stubborn to follow. And best of all Abe learned to get his freak on by finding out what he liked in the bedroom which were toys, domination, and lots of fun, sexy play. I would have loved to see the old girlfriend from book 2 make an appearance. She was such a bitch, but I learned from this book that she expanded Abe's mind with her kink and would have loved to see Janie's claws come out and fight for Abe. Also what was up with Janie's crazy stalker and accidents, the story line just disappeared. I wish LL would have either expanded it or dropped it entirely.

Renner and Tierney were like oil and water, which so worked for me. They both made the wrong assumptions about each other, especially him of her. He thought she was daddy's little girl that was given everything and he didn't like her watching his every move. Once they got together they were like dynamite, they had such chemistry and just exploded when they finally connected and relieved the tension. I loved how Renner got to give Tierney all her firsts, it meant so much to both of them. Tierney became a different person because of Renner. (view spoiler)

I love how Lorelei knows exactly what I want when it comes to sexual tension and hot love scenes. She has the right build up, the right words- not over the top with crudeness, but the perfect mixture of explicitness and tender love words. She gives just enough detail to get you stirred up, but not cringing with overly described body parts. She has the perfect amount of love scenes that it doesn't feel like sex scene after sex scene that are pages long. Sometimes they are short and interrupted and sometimes long with the perfect "happy endings". Also no menage in this one, which doesn't bother me, but I know some people don't like.

I can't wait for the next book, One Night Rodeo. Lorelei gave a sneaky, little glimpse at the end of WaT and left out who got married. Kyle and Celia are my guess and I think their story will be amazing. Celia reminds me a little bit of Keely from LL's Rough Riders series...the wild child!

I liked this book, and at times, I really, really liked it, so it gets 3.75 stars from me.

I’ve read every book since pretty early on in the Rough Rider series so I am familiar with the families involved and dive right in. I am hooked on James’ simple sexy style which is always a fun, fast read for me. I adore having the sense of place already established so that no matter who the leads are, I am immediately connected to them....more I liked this book, and at times, I really, really liked it, so it gets 3.75 stars from me.

I am hooked on James’ simple sexy style which is always a fun, fast read for me. I adore having the sense of place already established so that no matter who the leads are, I am immediately connected to them. I am not a paranormal reader, but I imagine the world building in those series' has a similar effect on the reader.

The focus of Wrangled and Tangled was split between two different romances that are connected by the setting (a new, ranch-style resort in the area). It was like reading two completely-separate, short stories that switched off in alternating chapters. I never quite got used to the shift, especially when something dramatic was happening and then, bam, different couple. I had a similar feeling reading this book that I had watching a soap opera. It had different story lines going but the characters interact when they run into each other at the local pub or at the hospital where they work (Luke and Laura, anyone? That dates me, I know).

I wanted a fuller experience and I think Ms. James wanted to give me a fuller experience, but was having to make adjustments for the format. She used a few techniques to maintain the brevity of both stories that left me feeling shorted. For example, we are told about several events after they took place (like days or weeks of events summed up in a sentence or two). Also, the characters would often communicate to the reader via self-talk (a lot!) especially in the early chapters. Some of this inner dialogue would be “accidentally” spoken aloud to other characters, e.g. (h)to herself: "I've secretly longed for you for years, but I would never tell you that". (H) "Thanks for telling me, now we can move to the next level”. (h) “Oops, did I say that aloud?" Ugh. This device is my new pet peeve. It served to reveal the character to the reader while advancing the relationships more quickly than seemed normal. It’s a bit like telling rather than showing (or at the least it’s a little cheat). Also, one of the heroes, Renner, left the setting a couple of times to work on his “other business”, but we didn’t get to see much of that. He was gone for a few weeks at one point, but it wasn’t shared with the reader, so I felt I missed out a bit on something Ms. James normally develops. I also love characters like Abe, but I didn't get a chance to know him very well. He was quiet, a bit of a naughty boy and fascinating, but got little page space. So, all told, my only complaint is that I wanted more. I enjoyed both romances like appetizers that I wished had been main courses.

I will continue to be a faithful reader of this series and any others by Ms. James because I always get a solid little storyline, sexy characters, a positive tone and a great setting. How the characters make a living is always elemental to James' stories including land issues, business ventures, etc. That might sound like, "duh", its elemental to every living creature, but in romance, we often don't get that and I love that I get it here. And, uh, and the hot sex is always a bonus. It was all here, but in petite sizes.

There are elements in the Rough Rider series that I loved/adored/broke out in song about and haven’t found some of those in the Blacktop Cowboys yet, but I keep chasing the high” like the addict I am (and enjoying the ride).

Meanwhile, Janie's boss Renner Jackson is having troubles of his own with the woman in charge of the accounts. She also happens to be his partner's spoiled daughter. Tierney Pratt is driving him crazy. She keeps telling him no. While they fight like cat and dogs over the business, he really wants her to say yes about something entirely different. But will the actually shy and sheltered Tierney let this gruff cowboy in and give him a chance?

Okay, this one HOT book. This book didn't seem to have as many sex scenes as the author's prior books but the ones she has really count since you feel invested in the characters and it makes them all the more meaningful! Westerns are not one of my favorite genres to read, but I always make room for Lorelei James books and have never regretted it. This story is no exception! The characters are genuine, and I feel like I have been transported to a ranch; the author knows what she is writing about. I really felt connected to the characters, particularly Tierney and Renner's romance. They seemed more like the main characters than Janie and Abe. I liked how Tierney transformed and came out her shell and befriended those in the community. I also enjoyed how Renner realizes that his antagonism is really because he likes Tierney so much. The romance between Janie and Abe is slower paced as they are rediscovering themselves and realizing they were very young when they married and made mistakes. I cannot say how much I enjoyed this book; I can't wait for the next in the series!

If you love a good western that sizzles and has not one but two absorbing romances, get this book quick!!

I have been wanting to try Lorelei James for a while. She is an author who lives in my local area, and she writes smokin'hot cowboy erotica. I have a tumultuous relationship with erotica. Sometimes it crosses the line from an erotic story to pornography, so I am pretty reluctant to try it out. However, I have heard great things about her. The back of Wrangled and Tangled has a blurb from Fiction Vixen that says "Smokin' -hot cowboys [and] lots of Western charm." So I had to read it.

I loved that this book actually had a love story or actually 2. There were plenty of hot times between the sheets but we actually got to know the players involved before they jumped in bed. I was about 1/3 of the way through before we hit the first sex scene. The heroine's were eased into the hero's needs for more than vanilla sex, but also became empowered and took the reigns themselves. Both partners had their turns at being in control. This gave the relationships more believability to me. When the hero is the totally dominate force and the heroine is continually submissive, the relationship gets as boring as when it's all missionary. I LOVE that the girls own their power to bring these macho male cowboys to their knees and use it shamelessly.

There were some issues with this book. The words neckerchief and smooch were used entirely too many times and every time I read them it killed the mood for me. At no time have I ever wanted a "smooch" on the forehead after a bone melting orgasm. I loved that she keeps it a really true to form Western with the words and lifestyle. I live in the same area and I know the ways. When I find that perfect hard body cowboy just across the border in Wyoming part of the fantasy is that he will not smooch me or use the term neckerchief.

This book also contains 2 stories happening simultaneously. The 2 stories happened at the same time and basically the same place but didn't really over lap at all. Jumping relationships and trying to understand 4 people was just a little much for me. The book would have read better if it had been 2 novellas in the same book rather that 2 stories that were separate but equal.

This is the 3rd book in the Blacktop Cowboys Series and I am on my way to order the first 2 books. I have also heard around the blogasphere that her Rough Rider's Series is even better so I'm sure a few of those will make the list as well.(less)

Another AWESOME Western Romance from Lorelei James. It's a two in one. Two stories that interchange for the price of one book. Lorelei did an amazing job again. After reading Lorelei James’ Rough Riders series and now this new Blacktop Cowboys series, you’d think I wouldn’t be surprised anymore at how Ms. James is able to, book after book, turn out characters who worm their way into my heart, make me laugh, make me burn, and just give me a good time from page to page. I keep thinking there’s going to be that first time one of her books isn’t going to work for me for one reason or another - I mean, it happens all the time. Right? Well, it hasn’t happened...more After reading Lorelei James’ Rough Riders series and now this new Blacktop Cowboys series, you’d think I wouldn’t be surprised anymore at how Ms. James is able to, book after book, turn out characters who worm their way into my heart, make me laugh, make me burn, and just give me a good time from page to page. I keep thinking there’s going to be that first time one of her books isn’t going to work for me for one reason or another - I mean, it happens all the time. Right? Well, it hasn’t happened yet in all the James books I’ve read, and at this point? I don’t think it’s ever going to happen.

In this book we actually get two romances for the price of one, and Ms. James doesn’t skimp on either of them. We know from the previous book that Janie, Abe’s ex-wife, is back in Muddy Gap, working on the Split Rock Ranch project for Renner Jackson. As we pick up here with these two, sparks and barbs have been flying ever since Abe has discovered she’s back. With a lot of lust and love thrown in, though neither one will admit the love part right now, this couple has a lot to work through and has to look at each other differently from before. Abe has done a lot changing since Janie left years ago, things he couldn’t see when they’d argue about them. It takes an attempt on Janie’s life to get her back on the ranch and eventually in Abe’s bed. Just for sex, mind you. But little by little Janie sees those differences in Abe, especially those that have filled out the man, in more ways than one, and made him more irresistible than ever.

Renner, in the meantime, is having a heck of a time with his financial person, Tierney Pratt, daughter of the man he’s had to borrow money from to get Split Rock up and running. The woman is constantly giving him hell at every turn, but how he loves turning the tables on her and riling her up. But Tierney does her own share of riling Renner up too. This couple is just plain old fun from the moment they’re together on the page, walking that fine line between business associates at each other’s throats to lovers who burn up the sheets something fierce. It does take them a bit to hit those sheets, though. See, Tierney has a secret, one she’s not sure Renner’s going to like all that much. Oh, she couldn’t be more wrong.

Abe and Janie have to learn each other all over again, even in the bedroom. Afraid his sexual appetites would have made her leave him anyway, he’s now happy to hear she wants to delve into the unknown with him. I like how it’s Abe this time around who forces issues between them, questioning and taking nothing for granted as he did before. Janie is the one who is off balance this time, not sure if she should walk back into her old life. But she has no choice when Abe forces her to stay with him until the mystery surrounding her accident is solved. Even when it is, she still can’t walk away.

I have to say Renner and Tierney have an edge over Abe and Janie for me. I love their bedplay, even though Abe and Janie are smokin’ up those aformentioned sheets. When Tierney finally learns how to please Renner in bed, in her office, wherever the cowboy demands, their lovemaking is definitely intense, but it also has a sweetness about it. Maybe it’s Tierney’s inability to keep her thoughts to herself, blurting out what it is she wants to know from Renner. She’s unabashedly ecstatic to be loving and a loved by a man like this sexy cowboy. And Renner is damn sexy. And he’s humbled that someone like Tierney could love him.

Each couple has their moment when things don’t work out as they’d hoped. Having two couples like this, you wonder if perhaps one of them may not make it to the end of the book. Will Abe and Janie come to the resolution that eluded them the first time? Can Renner and Tierney overcome being on opposite sides in business to have a life together?

There’s returning secondary characters from the local salon who are a hoot to read. Especially when Tierney is among them for the first time. I have to say I laughed out loud quite a number of times during this book. Ms. James does a sensational job of balancing the fun and funny with the erotic and romantic, something a lot of erotic authors have a difficult time doing. One secondary character we will all love to hate is Tierney’s father. Arrogant SOB. Thank goodness Tierney has learned some great lessons on this journey of self-experimentation in life and love where that man is concerned.

As erotic romance readers have come to expect from one of the industry’s best, Lorelei James once again gives us characters who tug at the heart, get us overwhelmingly hot and bothered, give us a few chuckles, and just generally make us happy. What more can you ask for?

YUMMY!! Another steamy read by Lorelei James! I did enjoy this book but at times I wasn't sure which characters the story was about as it seemed to definitely ping back and forth between two different sets. When I read the back of the book I got the impression we would be reading about Abe and Janie and we did but Abe and Janie's story didn't feel like the center of attention for this book. I'm a super big fan of Lorelei James. When she has a new release, I simply click to buy on my Amazon account. I don't even read the book blurb. There are only a handful of authors that have that sort of status to me. In my opinion, nobody writes cowboy romance like Lorelei James.

I'm a super big fan of Lorelei James. When she has a new release, I simply click to buy on my Amazon account. I don't even read the book blurb. There are only a handful of authors that have that sort of status to me. In my opinion, nobody writes cowboy romance like Lorelei James.

Wrangled and Tangled was such a great book but I have to admit, I was annoyed with the two romance stories in one book. That approach didn't bother me in her book Rode Hard, Put Up Wet. But it really annoyed me in Wrangled and Tangled. Both stories were excellent but I didn't want to keep up with the ping ponging between each of their stories. I'd get really engrossed with Renner and Tierney and then BAM, next chapter was Abe and Janie. I felt like I constantly had to re-warm up to the couples over and over again.

The stories themselves were excellent. So much so that if I read Rennie and Tierney or Abe and Janie had their own book, I would have rated 5 hearts each. But with the constant back and forth, it downgraded the flow of the book for me.

Wrangled and Tangled starts off with Abe and Janie's story. The previously married couple meet up again when Janie returns to the Split Rock Resort. Old feeling resurface and both tread carefully. It was a great plot line on how Lorelei James had Janie temporarily move back into Abe's home and a great turn of events that kept Janie at the family home.

I appreciated how Abe did a lot of admission that he was not the best husband first time around and it wasn't until an excellent confrontation by Abe near the end of the book that Janie finally realizes that she too was not the best wife. I was seriously cheering Abe on while reading that speech. Go Abe!

Rennie and Tierney was my favourite couple story of the book. I loved that Teirney wore glasses and was smart yet inexperienced. It was awesome reading how they constantly battled each other and then all that passion finally bubbled to the surface. Keeping their passionate affair discreet lead to interesting locked door meetings and google eyes across the rooms.

Each of the couples had smoking hot intimate scenes and I enjoyed reading how their love for each other bloomed perfectly for each couple.

As with all the LLJ's book's I've read, LLJ's wrote another Amazing HOT read for me. She can take a simple home town story and just weave magic into it. It grabbed me right from the start and never let go.

Janie is now back in Wyoming and working at the new resort, Split Rock. When Janie has a couple of accidents and they think it’s an old stalker of hers Abe immediately moves her into his house and in the end, into his bed. The couple have issues to work out but they discover that they still love each other and that they can through whatever issues come up in their lives.

Renner is the owner of Split Rock. Due to the economy he found that he needed financing and gets it from a large company in Chicago. That company is run by Gene Pratt whose daughter, Tierney, works for him. When Gene overlooks his daughter for an executive position even though she’s more qualified she tries to resign. Gene won’t let her so she invokes a clause in her contract that says she can take 6 months to act as an overseer at of the companies properties. Tierney chooses the Split Rock Ranch and Resort. Tierney is not exactly welcomed at the Split Rock and Renner almost goes out of his way to make her life miserable rather than trying to get to know her. Part of his antagonism is that despite the fact that he thinks she’s a spoiled little rich girl who was sent by Daddy he’s incredibly attracted to her.

Tierney and Renner don’t exactly work out their differences before they move into a sexual relationship but they soon find that the person they’re sleeping with wasn’t who they thought – on either side. Tierney is a 26 year old virgin who is trying to break away from her father’s rule and possibly strike out on her own. Renner is a man who likes to take care of those whom he loves as well as his business ventures. While the couple still has their issues it’s really Gene Pratt who ends up being the problem for both of them and their not sure how to work it out.

Wrangled and Tangled was a bit different from past Blacktop Cowboy stories in that James gave us two romances for the price of one. We got both Abe and Janie’s love story as well as Tierney and Renner’s. I do think that Renner and Tierney’s story took up more page time than Abe and Janie’s but it seemed that Abe and Janie had more to work out than the other couple. I was a bit disappointed in the fact that we didn’t get to see Abe and Janie working through their past difficulties on a more in depth level. They had some serious communication issues and while I felt they did deal with some of their problems I thought there were plenty more that needed attention. That being said I really did like them together. Janie was great at business but I felt she still had a ton of growing up to do. I think that Abe was a solid person to have by her side while she working toward that goal.

Tierney and Renner were great together in my opinion. While she really didn’t know what she was doing in the bedroom, at first, she learned quickly and since the pair couldn’t keep their hands off of each other they were intimate quite a lot during the book. Despite Tierney’s sexual inexperience she excelled at her job in the financial realm. She was good at what she did and had a great head on her shoulders. There was only a bit of angst between the couple once they became intimate and I really liked that about them – especially since we were getting so much of that from Abe and Janie.

In the end it was a good book. So far I’m really liking the Blacktop Cowboys series and plan to keep reading it. I would definitely recommend reading books 1 & 2 in this series before reading this one as you might be a bit confused by characters that are mentioned in this book.

I wasn't sure how I would feel about having four POVs in one story but it totally worked. I was completely invested in both couples and wanted them each to succeed. I would like to say I love these chatacters. Very real and I can imagine that they exist. The storyline fell short in this one it took me a long time to read it.

Renner is a great guy...apart from the fact he's been married twice which makes him damaged in everyone's eyes, he is very charming. I found this flaw to make him appealing and realistic. I really like this book, but on a level I was also very disappointed with it. I was looking forward to Abe and Janie's story, but they were really just a side note to the main story of Renner and Tierney. With Abe and Janie there wasn't really any character development. MOST DEFINITELY MY FAVORITE OF ALL!!!! James hit her stride with this one! Renner and Tierney had the best chemistry out of all of the couples so far. And finally - a woman I connected with. I really understood and enjoyed Tierney. Finally - a girl who gave back just as much as these alpha men give - and then some.

I liked this a lot more than I expected to. Well, I enjoyed Tierney and Renner's story. Abe and Janie were pretty boring and not very well-defined characters. Actually while I am thinking about it, what's up with the women's names in this town? Janie, Lainie, Tierney? Why do all the women have 5 year-old girl's names?
