This story is quiet but stirring. Everything about it - the characters, the town, the casino, the ice sculptures, the train set - is vividly described, not by an overuse of language but by the use of emotional language. And it is that emotionalism in the language that forms part of Mr. Wretlind's unique voice. I have to be honest and say I've never read anything quite like his stories. The most fascinating thing about his writing is that anything can happen. He plays his cards close to his chest...more
