I know I'll read this because I've read all of them, but I read the first 2 chapters online last weekend and I was not impressed. I've read so much better stuff from people who can't get published that this reheated mix from Evanovich seems especially unfair. Hopefully I'll feel differently after I've read the whole book.

Worse than the last book. Don't waste your time. Not that you'll spend a lot of time reading--the book was printed with large margins & big print to disguise the fact that there isn't much book. Took me 90 minutes to read it. Nor is there much of a plot. Vinnie's been kidnapped. Hard to believe anyone would want to save a sleazebag but Stephanie, Connie, & Lula do & it's the same-old, same-old. Ditto with Stephanie's relationships with Ranger & Morelli. Yes, I just gave all 16 of these books 3 stars. No, I didn't just read them all in a row. I just read the 16th one while on a plane (er, I forget which one, I've been on a lot of planes this week - 8, including one transcon). It took me about an hour. I really like these books even though they all have exactly the same plot:

Much Better then the last book! I went and re-read the Plum series before starting this book. I wanted to go back and remember why I loved this series so much. This book was so much better then #15. It had the laughs the intense scenes with Ranger, and of course Morelli. But it's the Ranger that sells this book for me. It also makes me want to throw it at a wall too. It's been since Hard Eight and I've been biting my nails and starting to hate the series. I know many are Morelli fan's but...more
Why do I keep reading these? The Stephanie Plum series jumped the shark about ten years ago, after book six. Those first books are some of my favorites of all time, however, so I keep going even though I ought to know better.

I loved this book so much. I have read books from this series before but I think I love this one the best. The characters were so sidesplitting funny. It was so easy to imagine them. Like Lulu with her tightfitting clothes and ample bosom, with sequins or glitter on her shoes.
The dialogue was priceless with every character having their own style of talking that went right along with their unique style of dressing.

I saw another reader use this word to describe the book and it's exactly how I felt after I finished it - meh. I do realize that the Stephanie books are supposed to be fun, easy, light reads, and maybe I’m too hard on this series and expect a lot more than I should, but the past few books have been big letdowns. Definitely better than the last two in this series but it doesn't even come close to being as good as some of her previous ones (namely 5-13). The humor is there in spades, especially with Lula. Yes, it's a little embarrassing to admit that I've read all of the SP series (but not the between the numbers books). They make me laugh and it reminds me of reading a comic book when I was a kid, without the pictures. The new book comes out every year around June 21 which is my wedding anniversary and coincides with a trip we take each year at that time that cries out for summer reading. SP is a guilty pleasure.

For the first time, Evanovich failed the found-myself-suddenly-laughing-out-loud test. It could have been the fact that the hot weather has robbed me of my favorite reading spot. Nonetheless, it's still a fast, fun read.
Yes I'm reviewing the book before I'm finished but that's only because I accidentally saw some of the negative reviews and feel I have to say something. When reading these types of books you have to expect that it's not going to be Jane Austen literature. Books like these are meant for pure entertainment...like watching a sitcom instead of a drama. I will always love this series, but a lot of this is getting old. I feel like Evanovich really hit her stride around books 9 or 10. However, the last three haven't been good. With typical Stephanie Plum, how can you go wrong? I love the way things do go wrong and end up right in these books. This series is about visiting with old friends, now. Haha I love how critical people are about these. They are what they are, people. Janet Evanovich is not going to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. Reading the last book I thought that I wasn't going to continue with the series much longer. In fact I almost didn't pick this one up at all. I am glad I did as I felt that this one had some of the things the last few were missing.

I thought that Sizzling Sixteen was better than Finger Lickin' Fifteen. The focus here moved to Stephanie, Lulu and Connie trying to rescue Vinnie with just a little help from Morelli and Ranger. To those who think that the series is getting tired -- stop reading it. There are plenty of other books.

Janet Evanovich strikes again. I’d almost say strikes out, but the book was actually pretty good (for Evanovich). She’s certainly not at the height of literary prowess, but her stories are fun to read, and her heroine Stephanie Plum is great. She’s silly, sexy, a little clumsy, and basically what any woman can identify with. Also, she’s got two really hot men in her life, and that of course does help sell books.

Another wonderful Stephanie Plum novel. It's amazing that Janet Evanovich can keep all the same characters going over this many books, keeping them fresh and true-to-themselves. Although, I'm starting to see that Lula and Grandma Mazur have a lot in common <g>.

I always look forward to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels. With this latest one, Sizzling Sixteen, I didn't find myself laughing out loud the way I usually do. I have been a Stephanie Plum fan ever since I can remember. They are fabulous quick reads that never let me down for a good laugh. I have to say that while this was not my absolute favorite (Hard eight for the record), it was definitely a step up from book 14 and 15, Which were severely disappointing. Maybe I'm just a tad harsh because I'm recovering from flu but I found #16 to be sadly lacking in just about every aspect ... and I LOVE this series! I know it's formulaic. I know the over-all evolution of the characters will be slow going. But I could live with that as long as there was some smart dialogue, even a vague outline of a plot and some sexual tension.
