The book is well-written. Characters are fully developed. The organization of material allows a middle-aged man to relive a momentous year of his youth, return to the present, and move on to an epilogue of sorts.
The book is a novel based on real events. It is a good read.
I encourage the author to write additional books in the novoir genre. (Did Virginia Woolf stop after her first novel?) Surely the author will search his memory and extract another year of enchantment.

I always feel bad when I get a free book from an author and have to write a poor review, but I'm not going to just quietly put it away and not say anything. I was sent the book to review and so I shall. However, and this is a big disclaimer, I only got to the 3rd chapter, so please consider that when reading this review. Perhaps it would have improved later, but I did not have confidence that would be the case and I have too many books I want to read to force myself through one I'm not getting ...more
