Much of the advice about being a better salesperson also applies to being more satisfied with one's personal life. As a bookseller, I'm not a traditional salesperson; I don't make visits to people's offices. However, I do interact with customers and we do create first impressions of each other. I appreciated his summary of buyer personality types, mainly because it's fun to figure out where I fit in all of this. My favorite action exercise, "Write your most important goal at the top of ...more

Hmmm, well if you ever find yourself in a job where you have no idea what you're doing and aren't sure how you got hired (i.e. real estate), it's probably because an idiot could it. But Brian Tracy went ahead and broke it down here in The Psychology of Selling by explaining valuable concepts like, goal setting, overcoming objections, and time management. In my case, it helped me to realize I really didn't need any skills! I just needed to get out there and rent some apartments!

Tracy doesn't focus on technique in this book. The book is about what goes on between a person's ears and the habits they have created that prevent sales success. He then turns to the buyer and looks inside their mind and shows what ideas cause most people to buy or not buy most goods or services. The field of "inner game" sales books is growing slowly, but so far this is one of the best.

I just got a CD player for my van and have the time to listen to more involved CD than just music. This was my firt book on tape I have listened to recently. The ideas in this book were great. It helped get me thinking more about what I need to do to increase my sales. I will listen to it again.

I read this book when I was temporarily pursuing a career in insurance sales. I didn't last long in that career endeavor but I can't blame it on Tracy's book. His strategies are straight-forward and make a great deal of sense.

I read a lot Self improvement books in that I am going into sales, and this is a very good one. I think brian tracy really knows what he is talking about. And I think it is applicable to many occupations in business.

Excellent material and it flows very quickly. This will be on a regular rotation for me. Lots of it is information that has been taught before but with all of it in one 6 cd set it's a treasure trove of info.
