Recommends it for: PNR lovers that don’t mind convoluted tropes
There are few things I find sillier than books that haphazardly mix popular romance tropes. The thought process goes something like this: “if readers like heroes that are shifters, Navy SEALs, have psychic powers, belong to a brotherhood of men fighting evil and have fated mates, wouldn’t they love a hero who is/has ALL of the above?” **eye roll** I know it’s fantasy but to take a story seriously, I need to see some internal logic.

Kyra meets Jax after he saves her from an attack. After learning...more

I loved this book! Yes another shifter book, but I don't care. Jaxon is a shifter with special abilities. I really like the way that they shifters were described in this book. I like that their unique abilities that aren't usually associated with shifter, vamps sure but not shifters. I mean shooting fire out of your hands? Bending time? Loved that all the guys were hot but more in a rough sexy way. Kira was so funny. I liked the way that she spoke her mind and she was compassionate to the other...more

The premise of the story...Five years ago, a group of Navy Seals were out on a mission in Afghanistan and were attacked by a pack of rogue werewolves, the ones who survived became wolf shifters themselves and are now part of a group called Alpha Pack...their job now is to protect the human race from all the naughty creatures that go bump in the night. Apparently everyone in this group of soldiers had some sort of "psy ability" that was enhanced once they became wolf shifters...there is a telepat...more

Being certain that there is something fishy about a secret project being done at her gene therapy company, lab assistant Kira Locke, steals some samples to find out just what. But her escape doesn't go quite as planned and her world gets a whole heck of a lot weirder when she is rescued from certain death by a wolf, who is also a sexy man, Jaxon Law, and is introduced to the the wold of the paranormal since her new knowledge makes her a 'guest' of the former soldiers, now shifters, who comprise...more

I kind of liked it but....
I listened to the Audible version of this book which I like to do when I have a lot of hands on things to do, like mending, cooking, or laundry. My first complaint was the narrator. I just think she put a lot of the wrong kind of inflections for different characters so they would sound snooty when they were supposed to sound sexy, or sexy when they should have sounded apprehensive. It left me thinking several times during the book "That doesn't sound like the appropriat...more

Jo Davis is one of my favorite authors. I absolutely LOVED her FIREFIGHTERS OF STATION FIVE series and I couldn't wait to get my hands on Primal Law and of course, she did not disappoint. Her first Paranormal Romance written under her pseudonym, J.D. Tyler, was just as amazing as the rest of her books. Primal Law, the first book in the new Alpha Pack series had a great plot line, great characters and of course smokin' hot love scenes.

Jaxon Law is man scorned by betrayal and weighed down by the g...more

Hmmm... Not sure about this book, I liked the characters and story idea and i will read the next instalment/s because of the characters mainly.

There were bits and parts of the story that were too unrealistic for me, I like them to be a bit more realistic to allow me to really like the book and believe it.

I don't know if there was too much information or too little or how it was delivered for me to enjoy the story. It seemed choppy and lacked flow. I don't like how new team members or characters...more

Can I give a book more then a 5 rating? No...hmmm...well that kind of stinks cause I want to give this one more! This book falls in my top 5 favorite shifter books ever and I read a lot of shifter books!

Fast, fun, emotional, and hot, throw in some sexy as hell shifters and a kick ass heroine and oh my...you have yourself a good time *wink*

I absolutely loved every aspect of this book. It has very intense in depth characters that will suck you in from the beginning. Jaxon is amazing. He is a tortu...more

First of all.... look at that cover and tell me you dont want to get that book??!! *waggles eyebrows* The Alpha Pack is home to some extremely alpha males, no pun intended. A group of Navy SEALS who were attacked by werewolves while on a mission and were turned, now continue on their military activities but policing the supernaturals.

But these are no ordinary shifters. They each have a psychic ability, some can go back in time, some are pyrokinetic, som...more

3-3.5 stars. I enjoyed the overall story, but there were things that happened in this book that I felt just happened way too easily & too fast. However, I did like it enough to continue with the series and I enjoyed the secondary characters as well. I'm really hoping it does get better in the future books.

A ill-formed friendship ends in betrayal and decimation of the Alpha Pack team also has long lasting effects for Jax Law. Meanwhile lab assistant Kira Locke is certain her bosses are working on something illegal, immoral or both and tries to gain evidence to prove it. Jax is already dealing with survivor's guilt and a sense of responsibility for his team members death the last thing he wants to have to cope with are the primal, protective, mating instincts t...more

Though i have to agree with many of the previous reviews about there being a lot going on in this book, i personally Ms. Tyler constructed it very well. All first series books have a lot they throw at a person during world building (Cheyenne McCray's Magic Series is a great example), but if it is done well there are no issues for me.

The romance might have been a little thin but when you have that Primal mating going on often the romance is more a reading between the lines thing. Primal urges pu...more

Usually, I start my reviews with how amazing a book is...well I'll get to that soon but first...my fav quote from the book that had me laughing my laugh ass off!!

Favorite Quote:

“What are Syfy and TV?” Sariel asked in confusion. Everyone had forgotten him as he tried to follow their conversation.

“Jeez, what do they do for fun in the Seelie High Court?” she teased.

The Fae prince made a face. “Fun? Very little. My existence there was all about pomp and proper behavior. I believe humans call it ‘ki...more

I wasn't sure I'd enjoy Primal Law, but damn I did.

J.D. Tyler's world building is fantastic, and the characters compelling. I was drawn into the story from page one as Jax faced betrayal from the woman he thought he loved, only to then find his destined mate months later.

Kira is certainly his match, strong and willing to face her own fears to do what is right. She finds her feet quickly despite the situation she's thrust into and she's more than willing to stand up to Jax's brothers in the pac...more

HUGE SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This read was overdone and not thought out. Kira, a lab chick, thought something hinky was going down at her job, so she stole some lab samples. While trying to get away she was caught by some goons. She screamed. In comes the Alpha Pack who are having a weekend off in Vegas. Jax, a cripple leg human/wolf hears Kira scream and goes into wolf protective mate mode and saves her, thus inducting her into their club where she is accepted, offered a job rehabilitating bro...more

I loved this book! Not surprising since it features two of my favorite things; shape-shifters and psychic abilities. Combine them with ex Navy SEALS and immoral corporate behavior and you have a very interesting story with intriguing characters that you'll want to know more about. Jax and Kira were great and their story was beautiful but I'm all about the secondary characters; Arik, Kalen and Sariel. Can't wait to see what's in store for the pyrokinetic/telekinetic wolf shifter, the beautiful bl...more

This was a really fast read for me. I didn't put it down until I was finished. Jaxon Law was a hero who I fell for straight away, and I adored Kira Locke. She was a woman who knew right from wrong and had the courage to do something about it. Lots of interesting secondary characters, which means I will be reading more of this series.

There were reactions and emotions that sounded quite fake at some moments, and the characters annoyed me a lot in a couple of places but the book in a whole wasn't so bad. I'm not sure if it deserves 3 or 4 stars, but maybe something in between.

There are things I really liked. There's a good foundation for a series, and intrigue, and action, and emotion... and even a fae prince! How bout them apples? But... yes, there's a but... I guess there were just too many loose strings here and there. Subtle contradictions that pissed me off. And dude... yes, I can understand anger and all that focused at someone (a woman) for fucking over your 'team' (more like brothers)... but beating yourself up, blaming yourself for fal...more

Kira Locke, who discovers something vile about her employers, decides to steal certain documents and is on the run, but then a wolf saves her life, and kills those that would kill her. Jax, has psychic abilities and is a shifter, along with other members on his team. Ever since his team was attacked, he was crippled and his leg still brings much hindrance to him. When he ends up saving a woman in danger, he never realized that Kira would be his mate and that his primal instincts would go into ov...more

A very nice start in this paranormal romance series by J. D Tyler! “Primal Law” is a fast-paced read, full of adventure and emotions. We get to know the world of the Alpha Pack, a top-secret military group of shifters fighting the evil. Almost all the members of this team were soldiers in Afghanistan and there they were attacked by wolf-shifters and they changed too.

The story begins with Kira, a woman who found herself in a big trouble when she stole confidential objects from her work. When she...more

Quick & Dirty: Psychic Navy SEALS turned wolf shifters. Need I say more?

Opening Sentence: Jaxon Law crouched behind a Dumpster at the rear of the old brick building, wishing he’d worn gloves to protect his hands.

Jaxon is an ex-Navy SEAL who, along with some of his fellow teammates, was attacked during a mission in Afghanistan and turned into a shifter as a result. Turns out that becoming a shifter, besides letting him take the form of a wolf, al...more

Mm mmm mmmmmmmmm Lovvveeeddd this book. Not only for the kickass badass hotness that the Alpha Pack team is packing, but for the camaraderie between the shifters. You gotta love a character's whose loyal to his buddies and Jaxon Law is no exception.

What I really loved -> Kira was not a stupid cliched pnr airhead who went bat shit crazy when she found out she had to go with the Alpha pack. It was utterly refreshing to read about heroine who didn't freak out when her life was being turned upsid...more

Really great first book for a series! Can't wait for the next one. PNR fans think ACRO meets Breeds. Really cool concept, made werewolves who all have psy powers, from prcog to psychokinesis. Add in secret experiments, government cover ups, and a whole array of other world characters, including an exiled fae prince, a basilisk, and a gremlin, and you have an exciting ride!

Jaxon Law was a navy seal, until a fateful mission in Afghanistan were his unit was attacked by werewolves. Many men die, but...more

I found the story slow to get into at first, which was disappointing as I really wanted to like it from the beginning. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of action and enough hotness to wet your appetite (hot, tattooed Navy SEALS shifters) but I've read quite a few books in this genre so maybe I'm becoming hard to please, I don't know. However I AM glad I stayed with it as the story picked up, for me, halfway through. Without spoiling it, the story centres on a group of Navy SEALS with Psy powe...more

Our Review [by LITERAL ADDICTION’s Pack Alpha - Michelle L Olson]:
Being the intelligent, curious woman that she is, Kira finds herself questioning what is really going on at the research facility she works for. Getting a rush of bravery, she decides to take matters into her own hands and find out just what kind of secrets her bosses are keeping.

Jaxon is a military guy officially on leave for the weekend and looking for a good time in Vegas, until he’s thrown into the middle of Kira’s little pl...more

Primal Law takes a different take on Wolf-shifters with special abilities, instant mating and other beings that are interesting. For me it is 3 stars - like it, good start to a series that sounds promising.

Jax liked him right from the beginning with his sexy wolf Tattoo, over protective side when he rescues Kira. Loved his sweet, bit jealous and alpha male attitude.

Kira was a sweetheart especially when it came to the other Paranormal beings. I love how all she wanted to do was help them. But c...more
