Oh Wow! This is a real eye-opener. This book simultaneously gave me a renewed respect for Ted Kennedy, and increased my revulsion for him. Even though I don't share his political views, it is easy to see that he could have been such a fantastic person, and actually was in many ways. But his fatal flaws were over the moon. Richard Burke spent 10 years as close to Kennedy as just about anyone. He wasn't working with Kennedy from a distance, but rather, knew him up-close and personal. He wa...more

For 10 years Richard E Burke served as an aide to Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts. Burke's duties included literally running the Senator's life for him both professionally and personally. I read this, and found our things I wish I hadn't. I suppose the author was telling the truth b/c he told much about himself that wasn't favorable. Although I didn't like what I was reading, I wanted to find out all.

This was a very eye-opening book written by Ted's right-hand man. The drugs, drinking, and sex (with countless women in his office, at a restaurant, at home while his wife was in the house!)!!! I'm sure most of this goes on all through Washington, but I'd like to think we do have respectable representatives SOMEwhere! I was disappointed to see young Rick (Burke) fall into his boss's lifestyle, but I was proud of him for recognizing the distructive nature of his environment, getting out, and c...more

Ole Teddy is an incredible contradiction!

If you believe in the vision, and your support for our leadership is unfailing, DON'T READ THIS BOOK! For the people who believe One's private life doesn't affect their public life, this book's for you!

A very enlightening book; if one-half is true what he writes. WOW.....
