Wow. The cover is amazing. It makes me even more excited about this book!!!! I also read the first chapter, and although it was kind of weird at first because it was written in third person, it was from Percy's view! I can't wait to see what adventures are in store!!

Aw, this is so cool, I first started writing this a whole year ago! Now I have finally read it, yay!
First off, I missed Leo!!! One reason was because he brought so much comic relief, which you need in a book like this! Son of Neptune was a lot more serious than the Lost Hero and all the Percy Jackson books. I liked seeing Nico but I wanted more of him! Same with Thalia and ANNABETH.
What did I think of the three main characters?
Hazel. Right away I loved her. She was such a three dimensional character that was easy to read about.
Frank. Eh...I'm still not quite sure. By the end of the book, I was thinking, "I don't like him because he outshines my Percy!" Now though I guess he's okay. I like him and he is slowing growing on me.
Percy. Of course, I missed him!!! I loved his chapters!!!!
All in all though, the book was pretty good. I will probably be adding things to this review as I remember them.
Now I just have to wait a excruciating long year for MARK OF ATHENA, yes Annabeth!! (less)

Wow! Yay! I finished it! I feel like it has been a long time since I read something fictional(is that the right word?) since I've been really busy with school and stuff and I switched to watching movies instead of reading books to fight stress and boredom at times.

Actual Book Review: October 4th

So I had this totally awesome book review, but Goodreads timed out when I tried to save it. Hera or Gaea are being really mean. They don't want you to read this book. Hera because she loves Jason more than Percy, and Gaea because she's evil, and vice versa.

BUT DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE EVIL PEOPLE!!! PERCY IS THE TOTALLY AWESOMEST DEMIGOD EVA'!!!! JASON STINKS!!!

Anyway, like I said before Hera messed with Goodreads, Rick Riordan may have lost his marbles when he wrote "The Lost Hero." I mean, come on, there is no way he can start a series with an arrogent amnesiac who everyone claims is the best thing since Pac Man to be as well loved as Percy. Percy's a better amnesiac, and this is a much better book than the first one.

One reason is each of the characters get a set of four chapters instead of two. This settles the pacing down and gives us a real chance to get to know the two newbies, Frank and Hazel. Poor Jason and Piper didn't really stand a chance with the two chapter formula. In this book, Frank and Hazel really get a lot of spotlight, and they grow on you, each with a pretty cool background history (Hazel especially) and great character growth (Frank especially).

Also, this book didn't follow some kind of obvious plot path that the first one did. The first one was like you could clearly see where Rick had wrote his plot web. This one didn't have you seeing who was going to be the main hero where. Well, not too much anyway. Oh, and the battles where totally original, unlike "The Lost Hero", which seemed to borrow (steal) all it's battle ideas from the Percy Jackson series.

I'm going to wrap this up now by saying that this book has restored my faith in Rick Riordan. I was afraid that he had totally lost his mind, but, even though he seems in love with Jason now, I don't think this series will be soooo bad.

Especially since Percy's back and we now have the Amazing Flaming Valdez ;)

Absolutely adored this book! SO much better than the Lost Hero. I felt more connected to the characters, and PERCY!!! He was in the book. I was seriously missing him! All of his wit and snarky comments were back, along with a whole bunch of ADORABLE thoughts about Annabeth, as he regains his memory. Definately one of my favorites!! Now I need the MArk of Athena!

Now, THIS was MUCH better than The Lost Hero. Not just because of Percy (okay, maybe a little), but really, all of the other characters and storylines were also better. I really liked both Hazel and Frank, their personalities and their past got me really interested. I mean, how freaky is that Frank's life depends on a little stick? EDIT, now that I have the book.
This was amazing. I love how Percy still remembers Annabeth. I won't spoil anything, but I really REALLY hate how Rick Riordan ended it. I turned the page, anticipating what we've all been waiting for, and BAM. Glossary. -___- That killed me.

I honestly wish that I could've given this book more than 5 stars. It was so anticipated among fans, and if your obsessed with the series (I am no longer in denial) you have to admit, it was pretty nice to have Mr. Percy Jackson back, am I right? Yes. I am. But regarding the plot, it seemed that it was surprisingly deep, and even confusing at times. After reading the book the first time I was like "That was awesome, but Whaaaatttt????" So I read the book again, (which I recommend)and I picked up...more I honestly wish that I could've given this book more than 5 stars. It was so anticipated among fans, and if your obsessed with the series (I am no longer in denial) you have to admit, it was pretty nice to have Mr. Percy Jackson back, am I right? Yes. I am. But regarding the plot, it seemed that it was surprisingly deep, and even confusing at times. After reading the book the first time I was like "That was awesome, but Whaaaatttt????" So I read the book again, (which I recommend)and I picked up on so many more things that I missed the first time I read it! SPOILER!! I think Leo and Frank definitely aren't going to get along for the reason being:
1: Leo can control fire (which could be a PRO or a CON for Frank) and Frank seems to be freaked out by fire...for good reasons.
2: Leo could possibly be descended from Sammy Valdez (maybe his grandfather?)or maybe in some mixed-up world, a reincarnation of Sammy.(Which would would definitely thicken the plot)Frank likes Hazel..just puttin that out there. Hazel had feelings for Sammy..which could ultimately be Leo. So Hazel could end up feeling conflicted about choosing the boy she likes now, and the boy she liked 70 years ago, or possibly that boys grandson, which would be weird and wrong. And we all know the Leo likes the ladies so there could possibly be fighting amongst characters...? So what? An awkward love triangle? Wait! A double awkward love triangle...we mustn't forget about Jason, Piper, and now Reyna. And supposedly, Annabeth is going to cause trouble for Percy?
Anyone else confused?
But the story is much more than awkward teenage love, no doubt about it. There's awesome butt-kicking scenes and a plethora of flashbacks on Hazels part, and Frank can turn into animals? Percy would be jellin. Oh wait, he is.
(In case you don't understand that lingo, Jellin=jealous)
Rick Riordan did A wonderful job with this second installment of THE HEROES OF OLYMPUS, and I know I can't wait until next fall for THE MARK OF ATHENA. Did anyone else die inside when (at the end of SoN) Percy dumped Hera in the lake and shes's all like "Oh my. That wasn't very heroic, even in a dream!" I don't know, I thought it humorous. Anyone have any favorite parts??

This book. Man it's epic.

The Plot: Percy Jackson has no idea of his past excect for one name: Annabeth.
Then he arrives at a camp for Demi-gods that seems very unfamiliar.

If Percy gets a new girlfriend I think I'm going to cry. My hope is that His love for Annabeth will conquer the Hera amnesia or whatever. I'm also freaking out that that poor Roman girl flirting with Percy will end up getting a slice-n-dice from Annabeth when she arrives. I mean, this is Annabeth we're talking about! I feel like I'm going to explode, I hate not knowing! The Lost Hero just ended! I MEAN REALLY!!!!

Our brave Percy is back, but without memories from his past life, same as Jason. But Percy is different from Jason. They were both frustrated of their ignorance but Percy actually remembers one thing from his past and that is Annabeth. Very sweet isn't it? So i bought this book as soon as it came out and i was incredibly psyched to read it! It starts off great, and we want to know what's going to happen with Percy, and who these new people accurately are. Rick Riordan, quite intelligently on my point, did not make the Roman and Greek camps symmetrical opposites, meaning that their roots and progress as well as their manners were different from one another. It starts off great, and we want to know what's going to happen with Percy, and who these new people accurately are. Percy had the same personality. i loved the reference of characters we knew from old books or who recognized Percy while stayed secretive. Great! Brilliant. It kept me on edge to know more! To find out something i have yet to know.
If i had to complain, i say the same thing about this book as i said the lost hero: the two other heroes beside the 'leaders' (meaning Leo and Piper with Jason and Hazel and Frank with Percy). They are portrayed as way too powerful. If I had to say it, I would even say that they made Percy seem lame at times. But that's okay! Because quite sadly, Frank is supposed to have a short life. And Hazel has courage, if not great power. And in the end, Percy is a great hero. I love and appreciate the relationship the three form along the way. The end was powerful, in my opinion. I liked how he left us at a point were both sides are to join, left off at an anonymous note either to come together or disagree. The next book title, The Mark of Athena, left me even more excited than The Son of Neptune had.
For some reason, including his amazing writing skill, when Percy called his mother, it was so sad yet contenting. 7 months he had been gone, and most of it asleep. WOW. Awe-worthy writing.
OMG it stops at such a turning point! There are so many prophecies and warnings throughout the book that we have yet to know. I want SO BADLY to figure out what this "big sacrifice that Percy won't have the courage to make without Franks sense of duty" is. It makes my heart race! Percy??!! No courage?!!!! It is definitely about hurting his friends. Without a doubt. Is that why Frank will die? Why won't Annabeth be able to carry out this duty she has in Rome? What is the mark of Athena exactly? Lots of fans have the urge to track down Rick Riordan and tell them their opinions. I know that i for one do not want Percy or Annabeth to fail at ANYTHING. I. Can't. Freaking. Wait. I'll be patient but I can't stop holding my breath! UTTERLY INCREDIBLE! (less)

So, I'm leaving my old review up, just for the heck of it, and in case I ever want to go back and see what I thought before I read it.

That's right, folks, I just finished Son of Neptune last night!!!!! And it's even better than I expected (note book now has FIVE stars, not four).

I thought I might not like it with Percy telling the story again, but it's even better than Lost Hero. I thought I might not like it with Percy telling the story again, but it's even better than Lost Hero. (You can figure this much out from the inside cover, so I don't feel like I'm giving much away). It makes me wonder how Riordan is going to handle the next book, which is slated for fall 2012.

Seeing Percy from two other points of view was a rather novel experience and helped me understand him as a character. Even though, like Jason, Percy has lost his memory, he still kicks butt and shows the Romans that the Greeks had perfected warcraft when Rome was still a dinky fishing village. (Don't worry, it doesn't get THAT serious). I think Percy just needs someone to balance his point of view.

All in all, this book shows that Riordan is growing as an author, and I am willing to bet a dozen drachmas that the next book will be even better than this one. I love when that happens. So folks, run and find this book, because it is definitely worth reading.

Oh, my gosh, yes, finally, a COVER!!!!!! A book never seems real until the cover comes out.

So, speculation. Climbing out of the water obviously makes you immediately think "Percy!" or some other son of poseidon/neptune (think end of Last Olympian). BUT he's holding what looks like some kind of eagle device, which of course leads to Zeus, and when you add in the clouds overhead, I have no idea whether that is Percy or Jason or somebody else on the cover. So I guess we're just going to have to wait and find out. *groan*

I hate not knowing.

Ok, other facts I do know for real: most west hemisphere/east hemisphere transatlantic flights go over the Arctic circle to save time (fact). The presence of all that ice on the cover tells me Riordan is aware of that little factoid and borrowed it for the book. Leo's going to hate this. Also, notice that wierd thing in the ice (back right) no idea if that is importante o no. Nosotros vemos, I guess.

Something I just realized; Jason=blond hair, Percy=black. That answers one question.(less)
