If I could give this book a ten star rating, I would! To be honest, I'm putting it right up there with Redeeming Love! Yes, it's that good.

Mesu Andrews' newest novel, Love's Sacred Song, is a powerful rendition of the Songs of Solomon. It captivates in the same way the Shula-mite bride captivated Solomon.

Andrews pens a novel that thrusts readers into an emotionally gripping story, capturing the beautiful poetry of the Songs of Solomon and transforming it into magnificent, passion-filled prose th...more

Well, this book was a long one, but beautifully written to the point that it captured my heart and I spent two solid days reading it until I finished. It had everything I love to read in a book. Deep truths about faith and God's love, intense emotion and intrigue, and people shown as flawed, but redeemable because they are loved by a Holy God who only wants to claim their hearts and devotion. That was well portrayed in this book. It made me think more deeply about God's ways not being our ways,...more

There are so many people out there that have a wonderful imagination about what life is about during the Biblical times. This is a very interesting book. Thanks, Carole!

I finished the book. I was kind of disappointed at the ending, but I think it was worth the time.

I appreciated the way the author wove the actual verses of the Song of Solomon as "shepherd's verse" into the story--it was very creative! I didn't like the hero (King Solomon) at all (even though its possible that the author captured the personality of a spoiled, selfish king perfectly), and the male characters' emotions were always extreme and ended in tears, and that made them a bit unbelievable. The plot followed the Song of Solomon and King Solomon's history well, and carried a beautiful th...more

As I read the last page of my latest read, I smiled. It was a delightful read. It inspired me in ways that I can hardly explain. This is a love story, but it is so much more than just that.

As I was thoroughly captivated while I read this book, in the back of my mind I constantly wondered how much was accurate and historical. I wish that I had read the notes at the end before I started, so that I would not have wondered. The answer Ms. Andrews said is “As much as possible!” This was not a passin...more

Love's Sacred Song is a stunning accomplishment. Mesu Andrews has brought to life the story of Solomon in a way that I have never before appreciated. It is clear that the author has done careful research in crafting this story, creating a story that is true to the Biblical account while forming a fast-paced plot that is emotionally gripping. When I have considered Solomon's story in the past, I have always wondered how a man with such an incredible number of wives and concubines as Solomon could...more

I love reading Biblical Fiction! It is fast becoming one of my favorite genre's, if it is done right. And Mesu Andrews knows how to do it right!! She starts with Gods word (KJV) and after reading and reading and studying it. Then she researches history until she gets times and places and people in the right place and order. Then after all of that labor of love to make sure she is a true to the Bible and fact as she can be. She fills in her wonderful imagination to round out the story for us to m...more

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Love’s Sacred Song by Mesu Andrews

I was anxious to read this Biblical fiction based on the Song of Solomon, and my first book by Mesu Andrews and I can say I was not disappointed. “Love’s Sacred Song” is Solomon’s story. The author starts at the end of Solomon’s dad, David’s life, and the beginning of Solomon’s reign as King. Being a King, Solomon had many wives but he didn’t love any of them. That is until he meets Arielah, who had loved Solomon for years, and all she wa...more

"Love's Sacred Song" tells the story of King Solomon, the son of King David, and Arielah, a shepherdess who at the age of seven was promised to Solomon in the hopes of uniting kingdoms, while she isn't happy about living as a part of a harem, it seems that it just might be her destiny.Solomon wants a kingdom of peace, which is different from the way his father David ruled, can he accomplish it,and will Arielah play a role in this?

I became a fan of Mesu Andrews after reading "Love Amid The Ashes." Sh...more

Ms. Andrews' first novel, Love Amid The Ashes, I saw her skilled talent for Biblical fiction writing. I saw the way she blended characters that came straight from the Bible, and added the realistic fiction aspects to create an engaging story that sweeps the reader into another place in history. Stunning!

Not only did I get swept away by the creation of this story, I was taken into the heart of the Bible, as I had to reference my Bible more than once on things I didn't remember reading before. It...more

Mesu Andrews’ book, Love’s Sacred Song, opens with Arielah’s early morning ponderings of Abishag’s life after the death of King David, her first trip to the City of David, and her desire to be King Solomon’s wife from a very early age. Also chronicled are the jealous, evil and insolent behaviors of Arielah’s brothers in respect to their sister, which are unconscionable, all the while refusing discipline.

The Northern Israelites were angered and insulted by the humiliating use of Abishag by King D...more

Oh what a story!! Mesu Andrews has taken the Bible book Songs of Solomon, and Biblical history and woven a beautiful story, centering around King Solomon and his love for his Shulammite princess Arielah. This story is a beautiful story of love that is pure, and life lasting. Arielah, first saw Solomon when he was a teen and she just a child of seven years old, but she knew that she would one day be his bride. And she dared to dream that she would win his heart. And win his heart she did, however...more

Where was God? . . . When I look back through history, it often seems that in the grand scheme of things, women didn’t matter very much. I can’t imagine a woman of Bible times thinking about her rights, planning a career, or longing for independence. Maybe she would’ve dreamed about the type of man she’d marry or the home she’d have—depending on what station in life she occupied. For some, the only hope of a good life depended on whether or not the master was kind. As those women experienced th...more

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Mesu Andrews deserves an award for the beautiful work she has put into Love's Sacred Song.

While, admittedly, it took me a while to really come to like Solomon and adjust to the pace I'm very glad I read it.

Enter in Arielah. A young shepherdess who knew when she first laid eyes on Solomon that she would one day become his wife. She faces many battles and enemies throughout the book. But she shows compassion, mercy, and forgiveness to al...more

Song of Solomon isn't a book of scripture that I have spent much time reading, and I'm not as familiar with the story of Solomon as I am with King David. However, since I really enjoyed Mesu Andrews' first novel, Love Amid the Ashes, I looked forward to this one. Don't you just love that cover? It's gorgeous. And just like Love Amid the Ashes, Mesu does a fantastic job of capturing biblical times. Her characterizations are terrific and her descriptions sumptuous.

Unfortunately, this was a story t...more

I both loved and hated this book. I thought it was a gripping story. I pretty much read it straight through, and I couldn't predict what was going to happen next. Arielah, the shepherdess who becomes one of King Solomon's many wives, was a sweetheart. And I loved that the lovers spoke the words of the Song of Songs to each other, poetry which I have loved since I first learned to read. What I didn't like so much (and hate is probably too strong a word) is that I am asked to believe that Solomon,...more

Mesu Andrews in her new book, "Love's Sacred Song" published by Revell gives us a fictional account of King Solomon's love story.

This is a beautiful Biblical fiction account of what might have happened to lead Solomon to write the book "Song of Solomon". I was moved by this book and devoured it to the end. I cried at the end, I'll admit it. A lovely, heart warming and, at the same time, sad tale of Solomon and his treaty bride, Arielah, who believes that God has chosen her to teach Solomon how to love. I loved the way Mesu really drew me into that particular time and place and brought the traditions to life for me. There...more

When Arielah was a child she accompanied her father Jeheosephat, a respected judge of Shunem, to Jerusalem, where she spied the young prince Solomon. And ever since that day she's carried in her heart the certainty that they would one day wed. Years pass, and the great King David lies on his deathbed, comforted by the prize of Shunem, the beautiful Abishag (1 Kings 1& 2), who serves as his "belly-warmer," an intimate but platonic relationship. Abishag's lack of any official status in the roy...more

I am not a reader at all. I have not read a book for pleasure in years, simply because I get bored and can’t sit still long enough to delve into the story. However, the Song of Solomon has always been a mysterious book of the Bible for me, and hearing that ‘Love’s Sacred Song’ turned that book into a story, I was intrigued. I read the book in less than a week. I literally “lol’d”, cried like a baby and, amazingly, was able to feel many of the feelings that the characters were feeling, because Me...more

Once again, Andrews has created a novel which makes me want to dive into the scriptures. Like Love Amid The Ashes - the story of Job and Dinah; Love's Sacred Song sheds new light on King Solomon's life.

Andrews has a unique way to showcase a Biblical story with a new twist. I truly love her writing style and the lyrical narrative she weaves.

The story is simple - the tale of love between Arielah and King Solomon. The layers of intrigue, some Biblical and some "Mesu" fiction, give it an amazing dep...more

When I realized what Mesu Andrews set out to do with this story, I was almost to Part 2, and I had this moment where I wanted to clasp the book to my heart, squeal like a girl, and jump up and down. "This is Song of Solomon!" I kept repeating to myself.

I grew up in the church; I knew the book was there, and I like so many other young girls flipped through its pages and giggled. Yet Mesu Andrews has brought this beautiful, romantic, sensual Bible story to life for me. She's taken a much-storied k...more

Richly woven Biblical Fiction, based on Song of Solomon.

I was surprised at how easily I was swept into another time and place, with Love's Sacred Song. Mesu Andrews expertly mixes historical fact, with well-crafted fiction, creating a page-turning, Biblical romance that is nearly impossible to put down.

Now you might be wondering, "How do you make a story about a man with numerous wives, romantic?" Well, you'll have to read this book to find out! I had some doubts too, about this story, but Love...more

LOVE'S SACRED SONG by Mesu Andrews is a very good inspirational historical fiction. There were lots of Biblical characters in this book which I liked very much. The two I liked the best was Solomon and Arielah. The love that they had for each other and their love of God was astrounding. That should be our thought to have more God and faith in our own lives. This is Mesu Andrews' second novel and the first one I’ve read of hers. This book Love’s Sacred Song was the historical fiction story of Solomon and Arielah’s love story.
It was quite an interesting story and makes me want to read Solomon and his other books in the Bible again. I like to see if the books of historical fiction I read and the Bible share the same story or close to it.
Solomon is a very wise King and I’ve always admired him for asking God for wisdom and not wealth, etc…, but I neve...more

Between Love's Sacred Song and Love Amid the Ashes, Mesu Andrews has gained a new fan! I love the combination of rich history and creative imagination in her books. Love's Sacred Song is about King Solomon and his beloved in the beautiful verses of the book of Song of Solomon. The verses that are shared at the beginning of each chapter add depth to the story. The characters and descriptions are vivid. The emotions are strong and heartfelt. It made me really wonder what their lives were like. Who...more

First posted on my blog, Legacy of a Writer.

Mesu Andrews has done a BRILLIANT job with her newest release! Centered on the book in the Bible, Song of Solomon, Love’s Sacred Song takes you back in time to the beginning of Solomon’s reign.

When I first began Love’s Sacred Song, I wasn't sure how Andrews could stretch that small book in the Bible into a 400+ page book…but she did! I flew through the pages effortlessly and reached the end with a contented sigh. True, the ending was rather bitter-swee...more

Arielah knows what her destiny is and has for sometime. Since first seeing Solomon when she was a young child, she immediately knew that she would marry him one day. When her father plans to send her to King Solomon as a treaty bride, she knows that this is the first step on the road to her life being where it is supposed to be. Unfortunately, her dreams and aspirations never included being stuck in a harem where the tricks, lies, and abuses heaped on her by the rival wives threaten to make her...more

Although he was the Son of David, Solomon was lost most of the time in his connection with God as is written in 1 Kings. In Love's Sacred Song, it is with the wisdom of Arielah. his treaty bride, that he is reminded of the love and mercy that his father once taught him. This story is well written, putting the reader inside the story line to witness the turmoil between wives, the scenery of the land and true love between two people. This story will keep you reading into the wee hours of the night...more
