"If you love him, you will do it." These vague words had haunted reporter Adele Lumas for nearly as long as she could remember, in fractured dreams where she was pursued by an unknown but threatening entity. She believed the disturbing phenomenon a by-product of her various mental ailments, such as schizophrenia, where hushed voices plagued her waking life as much as the m ...more

I won this book as part of a First Reads competition.

My Immortal was a solid tale, though a little convoluted and difficult to follow at times. I liked the psychology aspect of Adele's condition, even if it wasn't actually a psychology issue (what else could they have decided it was, given she was having hallucinations and dreaming of death).

I got a little tired of all the toing and froing in the middle, but it was nicely saved by the unexpected twist about Nicholas.

Really hard to put down once you start. A different take on vampires than most stories out today. Would have liked a little more detail in the characters background. I love that the story ended but that it was left open for a sequel too.

The beginning was really promising and had great potential, but it just went downhill when the author first introduced the vampire theme. As the story climaxed the descriptions and writing got more and more confusing and poorly written. By the end I pretty much just skimmed for the main details just to get a jist of how it would end. Very rushed compared to the opening.

It was a great story and had some turnabouts in them. I almost gave up, since it started so slowly. But I was hooked by about 25 page.

The first two-thirds of the book moved slowly for me, it was a bit wordy for my taste...but then the last third really drew me in when all the action really got going. A good overall read with some heart-rending twists at the end.

I enjoyed this book very much and to be honest I loved how when she remembers her previous life and her love it was so beautiful my only complaint was that it finished :( she could of added a little more I think. But it was a great story

I loved this book. It had the classic vampire traditions with the suspense and romance. It is NOTHING like Twilight which is good...........still a better love story than twilight though lol.
