Bear’s car has broken down and it’s in the garage to be fixed. Bear opens his garage ready to fix his car. But where are his friends? Lift the flaps to find Bear’s friends, Crocodile, Mouse, and Bird, and to figure out what’s wrong with the car. Once you help Bear find all the items for his emergency toolbox, it’s time to test drive the car. Bear’s car may not make it home without a little tow truck help, but that’s ok he’s got some great friends to help him out.

This large book is best enjoyed b

Maybe not all kids who are obsessed with things that go want their books filled with facts, but all the kids I know like that do, and so we found this disappointing, even though it was funny and cute. Maybe a good book to read with a kid who isn't into things with wheels but is into funny animals and lift-the-flap books, so that you can introduce simple car vocab like "hood" and "engine"?

This lift-the-flap book is short on plot, but contains plenty of flaps for children to play with and ultimately destroy. The book has brief, bold text and cartoony, old- fashioned illustrations of a bear, mouse, bird, and alligator as they work to fix and ultimately race a car.
Each page contains multiple flaps (some of which are rather hard to actually dig out of the page in order to lift) and there is usually more, brief text under the flap. The center page folds out to an impressive poster si

Weird. It isn't obvious in which order to lift the flaps and the words under the flaps are pretty confusing at times. One of the first pages reveals crocodile under the hood but the flap also says "and Bird? What are you doing?" but as far as I can tell there is no bird on that page. ?? Kids will like the book just because it has flaps, but it isn't very readable and the story is pretty boring and bear looks pretty angry throughout. He's not a happy fellow.

A mechanic welcomes the reader to his garage where he will try to fix his car, but first needs help in finding his friends, Mouse, Crocodile, and Bird under lift-up flaps and fold-out pages.

The amount of flaps is amazing. Great for a one-on-one read.

Not very educational in terms of cars or new vocabulary, but flaps within flaps and silly humor make this a likely choice for young, reluctant readers.

Not much going on with the story here, but there are lots and lots of flaps (and flaps within flaps within flaps) to keep little ones busy.
