Hot Head (Head #1)
Since 9/11, Brooklyn firefighter Griff Muir has wrestled with impossible feelings for his best friend and partner at Ladder 181, Dante Anastagio. Unfortunately, Dante is strictly a ladies’ man, and the FDNY isn’t exactly gay-friendly. For ten years, Griff has hidden his heart in a half-life of public heroics and private anguish.

Where there's smoke there's fire. Indeed. *cough* Hot Head is a fan-freakin-tastic read! Prepare yourself to be gushed upon. *Kissing Dante*, *kissing Griff*, *kissing my Kindle*.
Thoughtful. Passionate. Emotional. Evocative. Raw. Just…beautiful.
Truth be told, I didn't read this story sooner because a certain part of the blurb put me off. It's the part about the HotHead.com gay porn website. Don't let it put you off though becaus...more
It’s the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center, and FDNY firefighter Griff Muir is spending it at the Stone Bone, a popular bar and hangout spot for the city’s finest. With him is his best friend and almost brother, Dante Anastagio, who much to Griff’s regret is a ladies’ man. It’s not that Griff casts any kind of moral judgment on his friend, not at all, it's just that... well, he’s in love with Dante and has been for a long time. But, it's not like Griff is...more

***I LOVE GRIFFIN MUIR*** That is all :)
I know he's got red hair but that picture was just perfect!
I have a HUGE stupid grin in my face every time I think about this book. Why did it end? :(
Griff & Dante are besties, they work together as firemen, madre mia, we don’t have those firemen in Spain!. From the beginning of their story we know Griff is confused about his feelings for Dante. He doesn’t know if he is gay but he knows he gets a boner every time Dante is close...more
"I love you,Dante Inigo Anastagio. You'll never know how much."
Yes,I was so,so afraid that Dante will never know how much Griff loved him.I was afraid that Dante will never know what he meant to Griff.
Readers let me introduce you to Griffin and Dante---
The world's greatest idiots who are AMAZING, ADORABLE,extremely HOT firemen and just plain BEAUTIFUL!!Polar opposites of each other and yet linked together in an intangible way.

My not so interesting M/M history
I remember about a year ago when I started noticing many of my GR friends latching onto the M/M fanclub, I mentioned it to my husband and said something to the effect of, "I wonder what all of these women get from two guys together?" And after wrinkling his nose in disgust, he replied, "Well, guys fantasize about two girls together..." to which I wrinkled up my nose in disgust. Vaginas? Eeeww...maybe I'm like....more
I must admit that this was my first M/M romance book and I didn't know anything about it when I started reading it, I didn't know how would I feel but after reading it there is only one word for it:
From blurb: Dante is strictly a ladies' man, and the FDNY isn't exactly gay-friendly. For ten years, Griff has hidden his h...more
I told my husband I was about to read a gay romance between two New York firefighters and he gave me a look of unmitigated horror. “Why on earth would you want to read that?” he asked. I ask...more
I was so excited to read Hot Head after hearing fantastic things about it! Plus, admit it, that blurb is quite intriguing... ;) I mean best friends (presumably straight), volunteering for a gay porn site? I just couldn't resist!

By turns elegiac and blunt—with the occasional breathtakingly beautiful turn of phrase. By no means a perfect novel, it is still rich with symbolism, and compassion, and searingly hot sex.
It's pretty silly, but in that fun way you can really get into when the mood's right.
Above all, it is at its heart a very, very romantic story, and one whose imagery will stay with me for some time.
Also: hot firemen. So—y'know—that.
“Because people should not be punished for loving and hoping and holding their hearts open.”
My timing in reading this book has a lot to do with how it hit home for me. While I was swept away with the powerful, hard-hitting writing style and the "hell-yes" sexiness, it was the underlying message that came through loud and clear. That message will and has made this book a genre classic, of which I wish it to transcend.

1. There were definitely some funny, sweet, sexy moments!
2. The reliving of 9/11 helped those who have stock in Kleenex with my tears.
3. The story was a completely fun idea!
4. Loved how Dante got all growly jealous, lol.
5. I totally enjoy firefighter stories...
1. It took a veeeeeeery long time for anything to happen between our "heroes".
2. First person isn't my favorite, but I liked Griff, so it was okay.

I have had to really sit down and think about writing this review, as I don't know if my words could ever do this book or Damon Suede's writing justice.......and HELL YES, it really is that good. In fact it is the best m/m book I have read so far.
When he wrote this book, he must have been feeling it from the heart...I know because I felt every emotion, from raw and deep, to sweet and endearing right along with the characters, it is ei...more
I have no idea why the hell I waited so long to read this! Maybe I heard too many mixed opinions? Or maybe I thought it was all porn because the MCs involved themselves in porn? Wow, how surprised am I?!! This was a LOVE STORY! Not porn!! A love story between two best friends, Griff and Dante.
I wouldn't even say there was a lot of sex. Every scene was important to the progression of the story. And when they finally did have sex...real sex, Oh. My. Fuck!...more
5 big tender Stars from me
Love is always right, but so difficult sometimes. This is not just a romance, it's more - it's a beautiful love story. A story that feels so real, with real feelings, fear of prejudice and bigotry and about believing in oneself.
Even if he had all these awful feelings for his friend, for a man, that he couldn't control. In their word, two guys together was impossible....more
Two guys? Bad idea.

Hot Head is the best GFY romance I've read since I started reading MM a few years ago. It's a simple story - no murder or mystery to solve, not a single gunshot or explosion, no bloodcurdling scenes. Just A Fine Romance.
I already have a soft spot for Italian heroes but I do not find redheads attractive so it took awhile for me to warm up to Griff. Once I was able to...more
I’m lousy at writing reviews and I’m afraid that this one will be woefully inadequate but I’ll try....
Hot Head has two heroes I’m totally in love with. They're both hot, hunky alpha firemen, but they're also fragile, heroic, sweet and touchingly real characters. They make me wish I was gay and/or living in Brooklyn just around...more

Hot Head is critically acclaimed (by me), this book was the Kool-Aid, and by Kool-Aid, I mean the shit. I loved every fecking minute of it. It’s rough, raw and ready (wait a sec is that, not some other book). Well those words describe this book perfectly; stuffs on fire, feelings are blazing hot. The men like it rough, and they are always ready. Forget it; this is starting to sound extremely che...more
From the ashes of 911 Damon Suede has written a novel that’s raw, dialogue that’s fresh, a plot that grips you and makes your stomach ache, prose that entices, and characters that are so incredibly complex, flawed and over the top you will have no doubt who wrote Hot Head because the author’s fingerprints are all over every page. This book has all the elements I look for in an unforgettable story - drama, human tragedy, family, heart, guts, excitement, the unexpected, and above all, unconditi...more
I liked its no-nonsense approach to homophobia in their community, and the family relationships were all really well-developed.

Thanks to some nudging from my fellow GR members, I decided to make my first foray into the m/m genre. Having fallen in love with the torturous yet beautiful relationship between Quinn & Blay in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, I started to feel very differently about what m/m romance would/could be.
So, with that, friends suggested Hot Head as a good starter book. Sure, it had a couple steamy parts but what was great about this book was that you could really sense the love and deep commi...more
So this was powerful, an engrossing read with very likeable characters. I loved big, softhearted bear Griff - although he was so dense at times I wanted to smack him over the head and shout at him, Brains, much? And of course spitfire-loose cannon-Dante was adorable and über-sexy. Actually they both were acting - and especially not-talking - as if they were a little... slow. not dumb, mind you, just not that accustomed to talking, rather than acting. Which fits their characters. And set in m...more
First - In my country there are NO hot firemen. Nope. They don't do calenders cause most of them are old lol if there were hotties like Griff and Dante, I'd set my own tree on fire just to have them come to the rescue
Second - Before I start with the story and all, I have to say the writing style was something new for me. I mean, I'm pretty good at english, have no problems reading books written in it, but here, swear to God, I sometimes had n...more
This one is just too sentimental for me. I prefer lots of grit and violence with my m/m reads.

INDEED THIS IS A SWEET READ!

Damon Suede grew up out-n-proud deep in the anus of right-wing America, and escaped as soon as it was legal.
