The Many Sins of Lord Cameron is the third book in the Highland Pleasures series and wow… what an amazing story!

Many people have asked me whose story I liked better; Cam’s or Ian’s? The thing about answering a question like this is that it’s like comparing apples and oranges, or in this case, the finest Kentucky Bourbon and hundred year old Scotch! Both are amazing in their own ways and depending on your mood, you’d choose one over the other. But when it’s all said and done, both warm you up, make you feel all tingly inside, and one finger just isn't enough ;)

Another way to describe the differences would be to say that when I need to hold someone, to soothe them, bring them peace, I’d choose Ian. If I’m in the mood to tame someone, to ease their burdens and bring comfort to their soul, I’d choose Cameron. And make no mistake about it, Cam is a man in desperate need of taming and comfort.

So let’s talk about Lord Cameron and his many sins. To say I adore this story is to say the least. From the first page to the last, I couldn’t get enough of Cameron and Ainsley. Where one is weak, the other is strong, where one is restlessness, the other is tranquility and because of this, together they are invincible…the perfect match… which they prove time and time again. Cameron’s wicked ways have us believing that he’s nothing but an insensitive rake, but we soon learn that there’s much more to Cam than meets the eye. His tortured soul, his vulnerability… but for a man with his reputation, his sins are not so many. That’s not to say he isn’t wicked, because he most assuredly is, and in the most delightfully scrumptious ways. And like all the Mackenzie brothers, he’s honorable, stubborn, demanding and ~~goes commando under his~~ wears a kilt.

I suppose, to be fair, I should mention Ainsley a bit more, too, but I won’t. Why? Because while I thought they were perfect together, it was Cameron Mackenzie who made this an amazing story.

So there you have it, my totally random ramblings about The Many Sins of Lord Cameron and it should go without saying that I’m dying to read Hart’s book next!(less)

This is why I keep reading Jennifer Ashley, despite not enjoying each book I try. I keep hoping to stumble upon a book that'll knock my socks off, like the first one I read by her. This is why I keep reading Jennifer Ashley, despite not enjoying each book I try. I keep hoping to stumble upon a book that'll knock my socks off, like the first one I read by her. I found that with this book and couldn't be happier. I may not like every Ashley book out there, but when I do find one I like, it's not a tame like--I completely fall in love.

I am completely satisfied with this book. I can't think of a single thing I'd like to change--which is pretty surprising and thrilling. I wasn't sure what to expect from Cameron after seeing him in the previous books. I didn't dislike him, per se, but he came off as a bit of an ass. I didn't have any hard and fast expectations of this book, but I certainly didn't conceive of Cam being like this. He was so utterly sweet and romantic--although I doubt he'd agree. He had some serious baggage from his first marriage--serious baggage--and, oh, my heart broke for him. It made me smile to watch him slowly fall for someone so perfect for him.

There is a brief blackmail subplot in the beginning of the book, but it's clear that it will resolve pretty quickly and that it really only exists to provide an excuse to get Ainsley away from the queen and in Cam's path again. I was glad that it was resolved quickly, because that left us the whole book to focus exclusively on the relationship developing between Ainsley and Cam. It was oh so wonderful to watch Cam fall in love despite himself. He has had so much pain in his life that I don't begrudge him having a hard time getting past his issues. Frankly, I wouldn't have believed it if it had been sooner. But Ashley develops the gradual shift from pure lust to love to trust so naturally that you can't help but believe.

In addition to loving Cam, I absolutely adored Ainsley. She was such a good person. It's no wonder that Cam fixated on her whenever she came within his vicinity. She was such a change from the women he was used to. The ones that he by turns despised and desired. She stood completely opposite of everything that he had came to believe in women. It was to her credit that she had patience and was willing to disregard his distrust and disdain of most women. He never felt that way about her, but he fumbled a few times as he tried to figure out how to approach and entice someone so different from what he was used to.

One of my favorite things about Ainsley is how well she treated Cam's issues. She wasn't willing to let him completely ignore them, but she never got angry and irrational at him when he was unable to get past them. She just let him go and resolved to try again later. That right there made me completely respect her. She never twisted his issues and made them about her. She knew full well what caused them and didn't try to misread the situation and take offense. How can I not love such a rational creature? They're so damn rare in Romance.

As with the other books in the series, Ashley features the full cast of characters without making them seem superfluous or letting them take over the story. She shows just enough to interest the new readers and to please the old readers with an update on how the couples are doing. We are teased a bit with a short scene with Hart and Eleanor together. I am very, very excited to finally get their book. Hart may be cold and harsh at times in the series, but he is a fascinating man, and I can't wait to get into his head. We also get quite a bit of Daniel here. It makes sense, of course, since he's Cam's son. I was just surprised by how completely likable I found him. He didn't make much of an impression on me before, but his determination to manipulate his father into doing what he thought best, and his matter of fact (but sad) acceptance of his mother's flaws has me quite intrigued with him.

This book has me firmly back on the Ashley bandwagon. I can't wait for Hart's book.

Ainsley Douglas is one of my favorites and I liked that she was no shy, whiny virgin whose every thought is filled with conforming to society and living within their dictates!

Cameron Mackenzie is another swoon worthy Scotsman, tall, breathtakingly masculine with his strong, muscular body walking around in his kilt. A notorious rake, this brother makes no secret of the life he leads and the many liaisons know beforehand that it is pleasure he seeks, not romance or marriage.

The name of this book is apropos…..well deserved for our Lord Cameron! He has been labeled ungentlemanly, brutish and rude...Dangerous. And I loved him! I loved everything about this womanizing, erotica-reading, whiskey drinking horse-mad gentleman!

There are reasons for his lifestyle. He has suffered much and finds himself "half dead and walking through life barely feeling it." I enjoyed watching as our heroine, Ainsley Douglas changes all that. One of the things I loved most about Cam is the intensity of his emotions toward her. And how talented the author to make “buttons” so enticing.

Ainsley also has suffered pain in her past and these two are just perfect for each other. I like that their story was uncomplicated with no major barriers standing in their way and enjoyed watching each of their lives change by loving the other. I was pleased again that I didn't have to wade through chapters before becoming lost in the story. I liked how the author included Cameron's brothers and family, keeping them involved without taking anything away from this romantic tale.

Many have a favorite in this series; I’ve loved them all and can hardly wait for Hart Mackenzie’s book!

Since last year in 2011, I have started reading Jennifer Ashley’s fantastic “Highland Pleasures” series beginning with “The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie” and ever since then, I have fallen in love with this fantastic series! Now, I have currently read the third book in the “Highland Pleasures” series which is called “The Many Sins of Lord Cameron” and it is easily the best story in the series so far! “The Many Sins of Lord Cameron” has loads of action, heartwarming moments and hot romance that every romance fan will definitely gush over for many years!

Six years ago, a young Cameron Mackenzie meets up with a young woman named Ainsley Douglas and even though they tried to make love to each other that day, Ainsley could not finish it because she was married to John Douglas at the time and did not want to betray him. Years later, Ainsley Douglas is now a widow and when she meets up with the notorious Cameron Mackenzie again, Cameron decided that he will finish what was started between him and Ainsley six years ago. However, Cameron and Ainsley will soon realize that dark secrets will be revealed and that their love for each other might ignite brighter than before!

Oh my goodness! This book was just absolutely amazing, heartbreaking and exciting all at the same time! Jennifer Ashley has certainly woven a truly brilliant and heartwarming story about two lovers who both have dark secrets in their pasts, but are willing to put the past behind them in order to obtain true love! I just loved all the characters in this book and Jennifer Ashley has done an awesome job at crafting each character’s personalities to make every one of them stand out. I especially loved Daniel Mackenzie, Cameron’s son, who was always trying to bring Ainsley and Cameron together while providing good humor for the story. It was amusing seeing how Daniel always seems to know what is best for his father and Ainsley while he is always doing the opposite of what his father tells him to do. I really loved the awkward relationship that Daniel shares with Cameron because it brings so much humor to the story, especially with Daniel just randomly spewing out secrets that his father never told anyone. Now about the two main characters, Ainsley Douglas and Cameron Mackenzie, they were probably the greatest couple I have ever read about in any romance novel! Ainsley Douglas is shown to be a strong and crafty heroine who does not let anything get in her way of her love for Cameron and it was hilarious seeing her constantly pick locks to get into other people’s rooms. I also loved the way that Ainsley was trying to help Cameron overcome his inner demons that dealt with his late wife, Elizabeth and the things that Elizabeth did to Cameron were just too horrible to describe. This truly shows that Ainsley really cares about Cameron and was willing to put her own desires on the side to be with Cameron. Cameron Mackenzie is probably my favorite hero at this moment because he is so dark yet handsome and that really made his character truly interesting! I also loved the way that Jennifer Ashley describes Cameron’s body being a body of “God” as he is truly large and muscular and tall! But what truly touched me about Cameron’s character was with his dark and frightening past. It was sad seeing Cameron being so distrusting of women because of what his late wife, Elizabeth did to him all those years and I really felt sympathy for Cameron. Bringing out Cameron’s dark past and his sadness over it has really brought out a new dimension to Cameron’s character by making him somewhat vulnerable, but still trying to overcome that fear that he has been holding up for many years. I really loved the love shared between Cameron and Ainsley as it was genuine and sensual at the same time that I was literally anticipating the next scene of them loving each other!

For those of you who do not like sex scenes, there is sex scenes littered throughout this book and they are extremely explicit as many naughty phrases are littered throughout each sex scene.

Overall, “The Many Sins of Lord Cameron” is easily one of the best books out of Jennifer Ashley’s “Highland Pleasures” series and I am definitely looking forward to reading Hart’s book, “The Duke’s Perfect Wife.”

Oh, Cameron...

After being immensely disappointed with Mac and Isabella's story, I wasn't sure what to expect from The Many Sins of Lord Cameron. It could easily be as epic as Ian's book or as predictable as Isabella's.

After finishing the story, I think it falls somewhere in between the two, meaning it's a great step up from Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage but still not as amazing as The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie was. I give this book 5 stars for a sinful, swoon-worthy Cameron!
Anyone who has been watching my posts on this series knows that I'm completely crazy for the Mackenzies. Cameron and Ainsley have indescribable chemistry and their dialogue is at once amusing and yet filled with passion and spark. I've got to say it again... If you're a historical romance lover you should read this series, you will not be disappointed.

THE MANY SINS OF LORD CAMERON was not quite what I was expecting, but it was still an enjoyable read. I enjoyed it, yes. But I felt maybe my expectations were a bit too high.

I was a little disappointed in this book to be honest. I had really liked the previous two books in this series and really like Jennifer Ashley's writing style. I also really liked the characters in this book, but found the plot a little unbelievable - like more than usual. I found myself rolling my eyes and just not liking where the book was going about 50% of the time. The other 50% was just okay.

I loved this!!

The Mackenzie brothers are a swoon worthy clan!!

After reading Ian’s story, the autistic Mackenzie with his challenging personality, and sex appeal that just oozed from the pages, I fell in love with him and his bawdy talk. And his heroine Beth was absolutely perfect, I loved that she was able to see past what made him different, and love the man he is, she truly saved him from his madness.

As you can tell I completely loved Cam, I always liked him in the previous books and this one he managed to exceed my expectations. He was a little rough, he liked horses, drink and women, exactly in that order, but you know he is a good man by the way he treats his brothers and how he's tried bumbling through being a parent to his son Daniel. What was fantastic was watching him soften a little as Ainsley becomes important in his life, he doesn't become all gooey but he definitely melts a little.

Ainsley, I liked her, like all the heroines in this series so far she isn't some blushing debutante but a grown woman who knows her own mind and knows what she wants. That is another thing I like about this series the heroines seem more like real women with pasts and inseurities of their own that make them stand out a little more in this genre.

Now to the SEX factor, they were hot together, the chemitry between them was fantastic you could feel the heat and the longing as you read it and it may be wise to carry around a fan with you whilst reading it because it is knicker changingly good.

So, Lord Cameron Mackenzie is my flavour of the month, I recommend you all get your teeth in to him!

Don't have time to write a review now, but novel it was awesome!
Third installment in the Highland Pleasures series, and here comes Lord Cameron trying to steal Lord Ian's place from my heart.......And my God! He just about did it..... Well, not quite, but very close.

Throughout the series we've seen a lot of Cam and Daniel, enough to fall for both of them. Now that his two younger brothers have found true love, it's Cam's turn.

Mrs. Ainsley Douglas is a former schoolmate of Isabella, Mac Mackenzie's lady love (from Book 2, Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage). Raised by her brothers, Ainsley married a much older man when she was 18, and now, as a widow, splits her time between her oldest brother's home and service to the Queen of England. Dressing exclusively in gray and mourning black, Ainsley dims her shine in order to fulfill the Queen's stealthier duties, but Cameron sees right through the drab colors to the brilliance beneath. Especially since he finds her hiding in his bedchamber - again.

Cameron recognizes that Ainsley's presence brings color into his world, and he's not letting her get away this time. Ainsley is just as attracted to him, and she's perceptive enough to see the loneliness there. As with Ian and Mac, Cam's HEA feels deserved and believable. Compared to his brothers, Cam suffered the least at his father's hands, but his first wife caused him no small amount of pain, and the damage runs deep. Luckily, Ainsley is strong enough to help him overcome it.

One of the things I love about this series is that the heroines are independent women of the world, not fainting misses who balk at scandal. They have the strength, experience, heart and spirit to be the right matches for the Mackenzie males and their dark pasts. Ainsley is no exception. She escaped scandal, and as a widow employed as one of the Queen's ladies in waiting she deftly handles intrigue and secrets and blackmail, oh my! She's got some very questionable skills for a gently-bred lady, and a wicked sense of humor. In spite of some of the darker subject matter, Ainsley and Cameron share a lot of lighthearted banter. In short, she's pretty damn cool.

This book also gives a fun glimpse of what we can expect in the next book in the series, The Duke's Perfect Wife. I read the preview in the back and I'm really excited for it to be published.

I don't know what to say about the cover, except: Holy Highlander Chesticles, Batman! Also, fun fact: in the first draft I called this the "Highland Whatevers" series. It's "Highland Pleasures," which I think is actually worse than what I called it.

Silly name notwithstanding, I highly recommend these books. Within the genre, it's a 5-star romance series. Jennifer Ashley gets it right, and gives me everything I want in a historical romance (and usually don't get) - characters that are likable, strong, and well-developed, a fully dimensional supporting cast, not-boring sexytimes, and a little bit of mystery and intrigue to spice up the plot. In fact, she's the only romance writer I can even think about likening to Nora Roberts, and coming from me, that is really saying something.(less)

I liked the book. The plot was okay. There wasn't much thrilling part in this book which I found a bit disappointed as both main characters, Ainsley and Cameron are wild, interesting people. Ainsley and her mission to get the letters, Cameron's determination to save Jasmine, a horse, from a bad fate -- those were good read, just lacked of super-adrenaline-rush-action pack.

Disappointed. From the outside Cameron Mackenzie was a proper fucked up man but when you read his story it looked to me that he too easily gave up this side. I have to start off by saying how excited I was to finally read Cameron's story (I read this series in Italian and the book came out last week only).
Both characters, Cam & Ainsley, were instantly likable. I particularly enjoyed the fact that this wasn't "opposites attract" story, because both of them were very alike: vulnerable, strong willed, human & lovable... After all of the pain they went through, they deserved their happy ending.

Simply delicious. I can't decide which MacKenzie brother I love the most.... ususally the one I'm currently reading about. I love this series, not only does it have the best alpha, Scottish heros WHO WEAR KILTS, but I swear Ashley writes some of the most wonderful heroines. It was quite good. I loved Cam and I seriously hated his late wife. What a bitch. There was a part I don’t know, felt like the writer pushed so much to gain our sympathy toward Cam. Like his attempted rapes or his burns. I really thought that those burns was too much. I mean I can understand that he was drugged and she beat him but those burns. Puis ce fut le tour de Mac, artiste talentueux mais avec ses démons à combattre et sa femme à reconquérir. Et nous faisons ici plus ample connaissance avec Cameron.

Cameron est le deuxième de la fratrie MacKenzie et son histoire est riche et complexe. Au premier abord, il ressemble à tous ces libertins que l’on a pu rencontrer au détour de nos lectures : consommateur d’alcool et de femmes. Il traîne une réputation dangereuse, il aurait tué sa femme. Cependant, lorsque nous poursuivons notre lecture, nous nous rendons compte qu’il est beaucoup plus que tout ça. Blessé physiquement, sentimentalement et mentalement par une femme adultère, Cameron est un homme dur et prudent dans ses relations, surtout avec la gent féminine. Libre et heureux uniquement lorsqu’il est avec son fils Daniel ou avec ses chevaux, sa rencontre avec l’héroïne va bouleverser sa vie.

Ainsley Douglas ressemble aux héroïnes des tomes précédents : elle nous donne une impression de fragilité par rapport à Cameron qui est sûr de lui et séducteur. On se rend compte rapidement qu’elle est plus forte qu’il n’y paraît. On la découvre la tête dans l’armoire de Cameron à la recherche de lettres compromettantes pour le compte de la Reine d’Angleterre. Ainsley est très loin d'être une petite souris (comme la nomme Cameron) : elle est intelligente, elle a de la répartie et elle a cette passion qui ne demande qu’à s’exprimer.

Ce qu’il y a de plus beau dans leur histoire à tous les deux, c’est qu’ils se complètent merveilleusement bien. Il a besoin d’une femme qui l’aime pour lui et non pour son argent mais surtout avec qui il se sentira suffisamment en sécurité pour abaisser ses barrières. Elle recherche un homme à aimer et qui lui apportera la passion à laquelle elle aspire inconsciemment. C’est magnifique de les voir petit à petit devenir indispensables, presque vitaux, l’un pour l’autre. Cette histoire est magique et criante de réalité : les personnalités des personnages sonnent vraies, leur amour est émouvant et on aimerait lire des histoires comme celle-ci plus souvent.

En clair, si vous n'avez pas encore rencontré la famille MacKenzie, mais qu'attendez-vous ?(less)
