Five stars for the lovely, completely over the top, fanciful, curly, girly art! Fancy Nancy has a bit of the Eloise in her: she is VERY Dramatic, Passionate, Enthusiastic, and Imaginative, and she thoroughly enjoys throwing about big words, like “extraordinary” and “elegant,” or French words like “oui, oui, oui.” This modern Eloise, however, is more loving and less spoiled than her predecessor, and she will understandably charm many a little girl.

Fancy Nancy is too cute! I love that these books don't talk down to children. They use 5 point words and then they explain what those words mean in a way children can understand. I've always just spoken to my wee beastie as I speak and told her to ask if she didn't understand any of the words I used. This book does the same exact thing. I am told that she has a very good vocabulary for her age so I'm going with I'm doing something right! :) Anyway, I was pleased that this book does exactly...more

we checked this out at the library a couple of days ago, and mercer loves it. cute story, LOVE the pictures (reminds me of mary englebreight--or however you spell her name). i also liked how it incorporated a few, but simple, french words. mercer LOVES the pictures, the story is short enough for her attention span, and she insists on sleeping with it every night since weved had it despite the size.

Jessica recommended Fancy Nancy, and I liked that one in the store as well, but butterflies are a favorite thing around here, so I couldn't resist this adorable tale about a frilly little girl who loves to use big words, speak French, and dress up. (hmmm...I think I know a 4-year-old just like that). Beautifully illustrated, this one will be a favorite at my house.

These are wonderful books with fanciful artwork and story lines. I am extremely impressed how the author adds great vocabulary words into the story (and tells the definintion.) This is one of my favorite stories to read to my daughter right now and it even inspired me to have Butterfly craft day with her. Highly recommend for 2 1/2 to 4 years of age.

Also read this one yesterday at B&N. Natalie loved this book. The illustrations are colorful and cutesy. And, protagonist, Nancy is her kid of girl...loves to dress up fancy, drama queen, endearing.... The book entertains, as well as, educates as there are several "SAT" words in it. This was our first Fancy Nancy book, we'll be reading more.

Soooo cute! You can totally feel the fun personality of the little girl in this book just burst from the pages. The illustrations are adorable. This is one of McKenna's (age 6) favorites. Just a quick 5-minute read and perfect for bedtime when you don't have much time.

Another wonderful Fancy Nancy! The lesson in this book is one all kids learn one way or another. Sometimes things are more important than what you WANT to do but that doesn't mean it will ruin your life or be no fun! Exquiste!!! (another word for fancy.)

Bonjour Butterfly was so cute and I really loved it. I really love reading it with my daddy. The best part about it is that I have learned how to cut butterflies out and put diamonds on them and stuff.

Let me first explain that I know this is a children's book. Let me follow that up by saying I loved it. I love all of the Fancy Nancy books - and I'm not ashamed of it!

Good for a sequel: the characters are the same, but the plot is different and shows character growth. I like the lesson it teaches: family is important.

Butterflies speak French! Too adorable... we love the part where Nancy scowls, sulks, stomps around the house... she's not mad... she's FURIOUS! So cute.

My favorite of the Fancy Nancy books, so far. If you have a little girl - especially a girly one - you will love reading this book with her!

Another in the Fancy Nancy series. I don't love it as well as the original, but it's still so cute and the illustrations are great!

Another delightful read of Fancy Nancy. Absolutely beautiful artwork, and a darling story. So says my two year old niece.

I just saw this book this weekend at a bookstore. It is still very cute, but not quite as good as the other two in my opinion.

Fancy Nancy continues to be fabulous! :) This time she learns that her family can be just as fabulous as fancy butterflies.

We ordered this book through Scholastic (love that company). Very fun book - neat to have a few French words thrown in too.
