Olivia Cunning did it again!

Usually I never give a novella 5 stars (just once, and that for Heaven Can't Wait by Pamela Clare, another my favorite author)), but this one is not!

Holy moley naked Batman! I never know Olivia Cunning can write a story like this!! Sooo.. different from her Sinners on Tours series that full of sex scenes, and dirty act *groan*. You will surprised this novella more clean than Sinners series, just at steamy level, not too erotic. But I can discover her writing style at here. Still sexy, humorous, with a strong heroine and too-die-for, drop-dead-gorgeous, I-want-to-lick-him-from-head-to-toe hero.

Reece Jericho, *sigh!!* Olivia once tell at her blog, Reece like Brian Sinclair + Trey Mills but minus music (from her Sinners series) and I'm absolutely agreed!!. He make me gooey and hope to have a lover like him. Alpha, yet humorous and so loving. What with this Reece name? Guy with name "Reece" seems perfect, my kind of hero!

Lara herself is strong and determined. Even she doesn't believe Reece at the first time when he said she is his fiancee, later her feeling to him is growing. The historical setting at this novella are well written. We know about Viking history, about their habit to pillage and raping. And then at English medieval era,with their nobility and culture. My favorite is when they leap to English medieval. Think "A Knight's Tale" movie here ;-).

This novella have a cliffhanger, with Lara and Reece leap to Turkey harem, and I can't wait to know what happen next to them and what they do to the couple that become their vessel to find their own happiness!

My favorite part (contain a little bit spoiler here) :

“I wonder how sunburned my ass will be after I make love to you right here in the sand for hours and hours,” Reece murmured.
“I’m not sure that’s possible, sweetheart,” she murmured, snuggling against his shoulder.
“Why not? I thought you said you loved me.”
“I do, Reece. That’s not the problem.”
“Then what? This guy is totally head over heels in love with this chick. Holding her is so thrilling to him, I think he’s about to faint. He and I are both ready for some hot monkey sex in the sand.”
“Are you sure?” She looked up at him, trying hard to stifle a laugh. “Seems an unlikely activity for a eunuch.”

This book just about shocked me. I was expecting sex, sex and more sex (like OC's other books), but this one was very beautifully written with a dash of:

☑ Paranormal – time traveling into other people’s body at different time and places.
☑ Sexiness – Lara and Reece were at it every chance they got.
☑ Humor – Reece was one twisted stud.
☑ Action – they were getting chased and/or kicking butts.

An absolutely enjoyable read.

I recently went on a short story kick where I wanted to get in, swoon hard and be left feeling dazzled. I'd read a little of Olivia's Backstage Pass *insert YUM here* so when I saw this as a recommended read for the book club I'm part of, I had to read it! My. Goodness. This. Was. So. Good.

I was really interested in reading a story that involved time travel and was curious to see how Olivia would squeeze in a story that would suck me in, considering the length she had to play with. I was drawn in straight from the beginning and instantly wanted to know more about Reece. How heartbreaking to come back for the woman you love, the woman that loved you just as desperately but she doesn't know who you are... yet. There was a good dose of danger involved as he rushed in to save Lara, the only way being jumping through time. This is where I think the story became amazing.

Each jump, they became people from the past and with the chemistry that they felt for each other, they helped make things right. This made for some amazing sexual tension and even greater swoon moments. I enjoyed the intensity of it, the way my heart was engaged and I wanted everything to be perfect for Reece and Lara because dang it, they deserved it. I love a romance that transcends time, one where it doesn't matter where Fate throws you it's just as passionate, just as real and just as scorching. Olivia really delivered me a story that made me squee and sigh at the same time.

What's a Bookish Snob review if I didn't gush a little of the sexy hero. I loved the danger that seemed to wrap itself around Reece. I could imagine his cocky grin and swagger, the way he looked like he was hungry at Lara and his need to protect her at all cost. He was just so masculine and.... gosh I don't even now a word other than delicious!

Wonderful thing is we can expect more from Reece and Lara in the future! This is a great story to snuggle under a blanket (or loved one) and read, full of swoon, danger and sexy moments. Perfect for romance lovers. Happy reading!

I would never have guessed the Olivia Cunning wrote this book - doesn't read like her style. Then again, I've ever only read her Sinners books. But the characters are intriguing - sort of a Quantum Leap meets Indiana Jones or something. The main characters are Lara, a museum curator who longs to be discovering artifacts rather than just cataloging and displaying them, and Reece, a bad boy archeologist, who claims he's from the future - a future where he and Lara are engaged and lovers. Reece mumbles something about time travel, throws his arms around Lara, mumbles some ancient words, and voila! They're off ... to Viking times.

See, Reece claims that one year in the future, Lara was killed, and he (Reece) has come to prevent that from happening. His former partner, Carl, wants to stop Reece and leave Lara as dead. Did Carl have something to do with her death? Lara doesn't know, but Reece seems to know a lot about her. When Carl comes rushing in before Reece and Lara time travel, Carl seems to look like the janitor one moment, and then like someone else (Carl) the next. What's going on? Reece tells her that Carl has the other half of the amulet, and when the two amulets get close by, they hum and vibrate. So before Carl can catch them, Reece mutters the ancient spell to start the time traveling. Reece tells her that Carl wants to prevent Reece from saving Lara.

When they "land" from their time traveling, they seem to "occupy" bodies of others. In the Viking incarnation, Reece is Eirik, the head Viking who lead his men to pillage a village and take the women. Lara seems to be the women that Eirik was taking - Helga. Whenever anyone else is around, Reece and Lara can only utter names and words that those around them understand, in their native language or Norse. But both Reece and Lara can see each other and hold their own conversations in private. It seems that whenever emotion is really high, the host can fight for control and gain it. But in the meantime, Lara and Reece have control - except that their hosts experience what they do, but not necessarily everything they say or think privately. Quite the set up!

Reece is adamant that they not change history. And, per Quantum Leap, the two have to figure out what they're supposed to do - not to move on, but to help the couple along and prevent any major changes in history. Which seems to be about helping the couple learn about each others' emotions and have good sex. Go figure.

There's a lot that we don't know, but only get hints of. And the book ends on a cliff-hanger - the 3rd leap. (The 2nd leap is into middle England and knights, maidens, and tourments.)

It's a clever idea, but not all that well-written. More like a few hot scenes that have a story written around them to justify putting this together as a book.

But it's intriguing... enough to make you want to find out what happens next. So, despite these books not sounding or feeling at all like the Olivia Cunning books that I know, and despite not being all that well-written or well-rounded, I find myself reading the next one in t the series.(less)

Picked this book up because I loved Ms. Cunning's The Sinner's series so much (BTW, everyone must read Backstage Pass!!

Loving on Borrowed Time is a hawt fun read. Reese Jericho leaps back in time to save the love of his life, Lara, from being murdered. When traveling in time, they aren't traveling as themselves, but rather they leap into other couples (think the old TV series Quantam Leap). Reese & Lara have some LOL adventures going from Vikings to Knights to Arabians.

Truth be told, this is my very first read by Ms. Cunning and I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of reactions that include “OMG, ARE YOU SERIOUS!?” and many smacks on the ass for not getting into the whole Sinners thing, but I’m getting there!

I bought this book, like most others because I love the Sinners on Tour series. This was very different, but still a great read. I love paranormal books, so that fantasy aspect made me really like this book. It was short, a novella, not a novel, and I was sad to see it end.

I like the idea of them continuing to travel and help other couples find love. I enjoyed the relationship between Lara & Reece, they were fun, and the banter was realistic. I look forward to reading more in this series. T...more

This was a really different book. Completely not what I was expecting with the jumping to different times and the whole situation there (I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll leave it at that and you'll have to read it to know what I'm talking about). I am dying to know more about the beginning of Lara and Reece's relationship (the first time around...haha). I almost hope that there will be a prequel type book to show that!

I almost didn't buy this because there were a ton of typos in the blurb and sample, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I love quirky time travels, and I love Olivia Cunning's fun, sexy writing style. This delivered on both ends - it's a Quantum Leap style romance. I was recently introduced to Olivia Cunning and find her writing wonderful. I read Rock Hard,the first in her series “Sinners on Tour” and was compelled to read more from this imaginative writer. I truly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I wish it would have been longer and that really is the only complaint I can give this book. I must have to add that this book really does not end and continues on with the next book Twice Upon A Time. I have no idea when that book will be released but when it is, I'll be buying.

What a fun and cute read. I read this in an afternoon, and really had fun with Lara and Reece going from time to time, body to body. I liked how they felt it was their duty to help the people they jumped to, and the development of their relationship as a result. It was a really sweet love story, and I look forward to reading more about their lives!

What a great book to start off the series! Can't wait to learn more about Reece and Lara in the books to come. Reece is hilarious and just makes you swoon over his affection for Lara. She's one lucky girl *sign*. The concept is different, the sex scenes are hot and the twist at the end of the book is a nice surprise. It's a short read but worth it.

For me this is ok, but not something that held my attention thorugh the whole book. I found my self skipping some of the details to get to the main parts I really wanted to read. But it is a good book it you like to travel through time and it has the hind sight in has they go through it.

I'm not usually a fan of time travel stories, but this one was fun. It's so obvious that Olivia Cunning is just having a great time dropping this couple into different scenarios and letting them have a romp or two, it was a pleasure to read. I'm looking forward to the second book.

I loved Olivia Cunning's Sinners on tour series, so decided to try this while waiting for the next in that series. This book was ok -- but I have no interest in reading the next one. Nothing wrong with it, the characters just didn't keep my attention.

I actually found this book while looking for copy of backstage pass and figured I'd give it a try since it was on sale... Not sure if i will continue this series but definitely still looking forward to the sinners series...

Olivia Cunning is so good with steam, erotic novels and this one is fun. Lacking the intensity of the Sinners series, Reece and Lara are two lovers skipping through time evading the bad guy (Carl). They are temporarily in other people's bodies and try to aid in the romantic direction of their hosts. The book is told as a series of stories so there are multiple plots and characters.
